  • Yes, eat more soluble fiber, that seems to work. Up your intake of fiber to 30 or 40 gram aday, this decrease the absorbtion of cholesterol in your gut. Oats are good for this, so are apples, blueberries, etc. Secondly lower saturated fat intake. Your liver converts this to cholesterol, the less you eat the less your liver…

  • Yes, mine is too high too 'and I am on crestor. Changed my diet in the last 5 months and now I am consistantly below 100 mg a day, and mostly that's fish, cheese and chicken. Give me another 6 months and I will fill you in what is happening to my level.
  • http://www.credentialwatch.org/reports/iin.shtml Check this link, that should address the credentials of "board-certified health counselors" of the "Institute for Integrative Nutrition". Bottom line is $4,995 pluss an additional $495, for the "Certificate in Health Counseling" and watching some web siminars gets you the…
  • [/quote] Ok, obivously you have not researched Atkins, Paleo, HCG or any of the plans that you mentioned. If you had, you would not have written anything that you wrote above....... There are plenty of PROVEN scientific facts that support these plans. I am getting ready to shower, but I will be more than happy to share…
  • Ok, my opinion. The only thing that matters for weight loss is CALORIES EATEN and CALORIES LOST. If you want to lose weight eat less and/or exercise more. The only reason that any of these diets work, is because they restrict how much you eat. Most studies that I have seen show that if you have certain genetic makeup,…

  • I'm worried and I know I am not the only one. From my understanding Roundup ready GMO's were produced to withstand more herbicides (the Roundup). So yeah, less pesticide, way more herbicide. An herbicide that to my understanding is an endocrine disruptor/estrogen mimic. "there is no evidence that GMO has any adverse…

  • Almost all of insulin, human growth hormone, hepatitis-B vaccine, and antibodies for cancer treatments these days is produced by GMO modified bacteria, with great benefit and lower cost. Most animal studies (rats, mice) of human diseases use genetically modified animals. No one seems to be worried about this. In crops, for…
  • Not a lot of good data. Below are a couple of sample articles that have some relevant info in them. But sorry, this is not my research field, there are hundreds of similar articles and this would take a while to review and synthesize. However, looking at this it is clear there is at best, marginal evidence that coconut oil…
  • First off, my expertise is plant ecology, carbon and nitrogen cycling, not nutrition or medical fields. Having said that, I have researched my health issues in the primary literature and I can comprehend what is well known and what is not. And you make a good point, medical research is pretty good evaluating drugs, but not…
  • Good Point. I have two cats too might be a good time to go into making money of them. Anyhow, I agree, late enough time to go to bed. Good night.
  • No problem. This has been on my mind for for while, hence the long post. But I really would like your opinion.
  • Um, wow, strong opinions over fats. Interesting article. I think getting unbalanced on either end of that is probably wrong. The right answer for all of that is probably in the middle. This is actually a problem that we have. There is broad consensus among scientist about this topic and a couple of individuals on the…
  • Well there are still people that believe that AIDS is caused by drug use and guy behavior. Anyone can make anything it, and propegate it through the web. There is broad consensus among scientists that there is a direct link between LDL cholesterol and heart disease. There is strong correlational and experimental evidence…
  • I disagree, there is a large body of research providing evidence that saturated fat increases LDL cholesterol, that high LDL cholesterol is not good for you, and that HDL cholesterol is good for you. So, you need to figure out if your LDL is to high or your HDL is too low. Look in Wikipedia or the Mayo Clinic or any other…
  • Yes, calories in and calories out. Eat less and/or exercise more. That's it for weight loss. All these diets and supplements are just being promoted by people making money of them. And as we can see with all the advertisements everywhere, people are making a lot of money of scamming people looking for a quick fix to lose…
  • wikipedia, for your info. Weight loss A controversial usage of hCG is as an adjunct to the British endocrinologist A.T.W. Simeons' ultra-low-calorie weight-loss diet[13] (less than 500 calories).[14] Simeons, while studying pregnant women in India on a calorie-deficient diet, and “fat boys” with pituitary problems…

  • Well I have to disagree with this hysteria about GMO crops. Roundup ready alfalfa will increase Roundup use which is one of the more benign herbicides out there. This will increase production and decrease overall herbicide use, which is good for all of this. And, no using no herbicides does not work. Organic crops have…
  • Yes, calories in and calories out, that’s the bottom line. I don't exercise much, but eating less works fine. But this is easier for guys, because their BMR is higher than for women.
  • No, I am set up at 1 lb a week, but have lost about 2 lb per week for the last 3 months. Not sure why.
