Sounds great - I'm going to try it...

I think the genetics card is overplayed, I'm not saying it doesn't factor, but it's definitely overused. I look at myself as an example - obesity, heart problems, high blood pressure and high cholesterol run in my family and I'm supposedly genetically pre-disposed to this. I'm not obese any more and therefore, I have…

Since you are asking the question on whether or not to do it, it means that you are open for options, so don't even bother and just have fun!! It will surely do a lot less harm NOT drinking... :)

Where? Link?

You should not reduce your calories below your BMR for such a long time. Your metabolism slows down and that's when you hit a plateau. Increase your calories to somewhere between your BMR and TDEE - it's a slower, but much more realistic goal for a long time.
-
It's just a basic calculation and meant as a guideline if you do things in moderation, not to the extremes. (If the number is somewhere between your BMR and TDEE it is more likely to be accurate than if you cut 900 calories from what you should be eating). If you consistently eat way below what your body needs, you put…

That's what I would do too (and have done).

1. You are clearly not eating enough. You are causing more harm than good by eating so little, especially since also saying that you're a yo-yo dieter. 2. You WILL weigh less the night after some heavy drinking because you are dehydrated. This does not mean your diet is going well, it simply means that your body is out of…

If you're going to eat it, first weigh it, then log it. Either the calorie tally or the effort involved in constantly weighing and logging will hopefully discourage you from doing that. Make it a RULE. And if you're buying chocolates - make sure it fits into your calories for the day...

I don't like it that much. Many products in Britain has the traffic light system on the front, but it's confusing. Personally, I prefer the way things are now, because I know where to find them. With the way I space my calories, an orange for lunch might mean a green for dinner. Also, without education about it, it doesn't…

Go look through a few posts. Most women who hit plateaus are on 1200 calories (or some even less). It's too little unless you are REALLY short. Your body needs fuel to burn fat, it's not going to just burn a lot of fat in one go (that's why they don't suggest that people with a lot of weight to lose simply stop eating…
-
A BMR of 1650 and you are wondering why you aren't losing any weight? Because you are not giving your body enough energy to burn off fat. Your body isn't just magically going to do it you know. 1200 calories is TOO LOW. You are not the first person here on a severely restricted calorie diet who's complaining about no…
-
Interesting name... You only started this yesterday and already lost 3 lb - how can you already be pinpointing stuff that's hampering your weight-loss?
-
We should bump this once a day for the amount of people on here who think it's okay to starve their bodies to the point where their metabolism slows down to a crawl (and then come on here asking for advice because they don't understand what's going on).
-
It's not fat that you lost - it's just water. Don't set yourself up for failure - it's not going to be 3 lbs a day forever. Your body probably hasn't even started burning any fat yet, you need to give any diet more time than that!
-
It's so frustrating seeing so many women thinking that 1200 calories a day is enough. You are not being very good to your body by not giving it enough energy to do the things it needs to do. You can only burn so much body fat at any point in time and to keep that fat burning going, you need to keep fuelling your body. If I…

Hahaha - that's what I suggested, but I suppose you have a point. I lately "make a thing" about it though rather than trying to do it sneakily. That way people know what I'm doing and that I'm not just busy texting someone...

Something BIG is wrong with your calculations. Your ticker says you have 100lbs that you want to lose. How on earth can 1200 calories only be a 400 calorie deficit? I think you used your BMR as a base instead of TDEE (calories required to maintain weight). You should really recalculate and make sure it's right - 1200…
-
You seem to work out quite a bit. 1. Do you measure yourself? 2. 1200 calories net a day??? Are you exceptionally short or do you have a medical problem that your net calorie goal is so low? It is the ABSOLUTE minimum that's suggested. Since you work out quite a bit, even your BMR is likely to be a bit higher (you burn…

The only reason I pay attention is because carbs are quite calorie dense for what you get. I eat between 200g and 300g a day, but I don't specifically limit it. I have carbs with every meal, but I try to ensure that it's healthy stuff (brown rice rather than white, pasta, wholemeal breads, wraps etc). So I check my carbs…

1. It doesn't really matter, but for the purposes of calculating things like BMI, use the morning weight, just because it's lower. 2. The difference is due to water - it's not fat that you put on during the day each day, so whether you weight yourself at night or in the morning, just make sure that when comparing weight…
-
Then you're not following Atkins - it's just low carb. (Atkins is low carb to the extreme - no more than 20g of carbs a day (this includes carbs from fruit & veggies).
-
I did the Atkins diet for about 2 and a half week. Lost a decent amount of weight, but all I remember was the fact that I did not go to the toilet for a #2 the entire time! And how I started craving cakes and biscuits and bread and pasta. I also remember going to a restaurant and how sad I looked with just a piece of meat…

Only read this now - this is CRAZY!!! You need to fuel your body!! Your body needs energy to fuel your metabolism - without it, you could simply end up doing lasting damage because your body will simply adjust to this little net calories.
-
I bet you that your nutritionist would never put you on a 1200 calorie diet though!!! It's NOT fine!!! Your body can't live off so little calories when she is using it up to exercise. There's nothing left to keep her metabolism going...
-
2lbs a week when you are already in a healthy BMI range is a bit much too ask!! Also, calculate your body fat % and make sure that you actually can go that low. Around 15-20% for a woman is still good. There's no point if you're trying to reduce it below that...
-
Those figures are not your BMR, but your TDEE less some for weight loss by the sounds of it. You BMR would be a bit lower, but by the sounds of it, it all sounds sort of right. I am hoping it also puts into perspective why 1200 calories is an ABSOLUTELY MINIMUM for females and NOT an average guideline. It is good to get to…
-
Might I also add that 1200 calories is NOT the recommendation. 1200 calories is the ABSOLUTE minimum - most women should eat more than that!!
-
I have lost all my weight without monitoring carbs too much. The only monitoring and reason I've cut down is because they are quite calorie dense and I can replace it with veggie to make me feel fuller for longer. I checked my diary and I consistently eat between 200g and 300g a day and my weight loss is going strong...

1. Stop weighing yourself from day to day. The initial daily loss was mostly water. 2. 700 calories a day? Really? And where do you think your body is going to get the energy to burn that fat? 700 calories isn't even enough to let your brain, heart, lungs function normally and now you expect your metabolism to function…
