 Great news all around! Congratulations on all your hard work.

Dani - when I first signed up for MFP I did it because I was "going to loose weight this time". Then I didn't make friends or journal or really even come back on for about 6 months - when I did come back I had gained 15 pounds so I said I was "going to loose weight this time" and nothing happened again. I had a doctor…

Amazing story! It's so nice to see someone else who is diabetic who is having success! Keep up the great work.

I am with you Carole, I only count "water" as "water"....not coffee, pop, etc.

I checked online about this since I am diabetic that is the first thing I always check for. This is what I found. For something so good for you there seems to be quite a few ingredients. http://www.diabetesselfmanagement.com/Blog/Amy-Campbell/enhanced-waters-are-they-as-good-as-they-claim-to-be-part-2/ to answer your…

I just got a Polar Heart Rate Monitor/exercise calculator 2 days ago and used it for the 1st time yesterday. I tested it against my bike and treadmill and it was right on the money. It is nice to know that when I walk I can hit the start button and go - I don't have to wear the watch, I can stick it in my pocket because…

I'm 55 and yes it is harder to loose weight at this age but you know what - I'm doing it, little at a time - working for every pound lost. Good luck with your weight loss!!

Day 3 getting my challenge complete

I have been exercising AT LEAST 30 minutes 2 days in a row. Today I mowed the backyard for the first time. Then I worked in the garden, same yesterday - the garden, not mowing. Love being able to get in the yard and dig, replant and mow - makes me feel alive.

I was eating the recommended 1200 a week and after a few weeks stopped losing or only lost .4 a week......I talked to a few people who had been doing this longer than me and they recommended I up my calories per day. I'm not eating 1480 a day and have started loosing again!!

from Thanksgiving until the middle of January I only checked my blood a few times, I was on a "I don't care" kick. When I saw my Endocrinologist in mid January I got a wake up call -- my A1c had gone from under 6 to over 8. I haven't missed a day since January and I won't again.

I'm in Richard. Thanks for the challenge!

On this date (April 1) 1978 I left Des Moines, IA and flew to Columbia, SC for the shock of my life! Not only did no one tell me NOT to wear high heels that day because I would be running off the cattle truck (wasn't really one but looked and felt like one) but no one told me NOT to wear a warm (hot) outfit. When I left…

I am tracking everything and still have a few calories left over. That includes our desert!

MFP is a great place to come for friendship and help along your weight loss journey. I have been on and off the site for a couple years but have only been serious the past couple months - I've lost 13 pounds and have eaten whatever I wanted, just within reason, by counting calories and with the help of others. If you would…

Hi Tracy -- I have a raised bed garden plus several flower beds around the yard. I love being in the yard as much as possible in the summer and can't wait until I can start mowing again!! I was diagnosed about 3-1/2 years ago with Type 2 and did wonderful for quite awhile....then at Thanksgiving something switched off in…

I use an Advcocate Talking monitor from American Diabetes Wholesale online. I have never had any problems with it - have taken it to my Endocrinologist and she likes it also -- and it is nice to get discounts on multiple boxes of strips.

I'm in. I'm 55 years old 5'4" and on several meds which make it difficult (not impossible but slower) to loose weight. I currently weigh 187.6 and would like to loose 4 pounds in the month of April (1 pound per week) so by the end of April I will weigh 183. I need that extra boost to keep going every day. Glad to find this…

how wonderful for you!! Congratulations getting off of the meds!

congratulations!! This is an inspiration to all of us!!

Welcome glad to see you here and asking for help - we are all here to help each other. 4 years ago my doctor told me I was Type 2 and for awhile I did real well, then I slipped - I was in denial (once again) around the holidays but got myself back on the straight and narrow again and feel much better. Add me as a friend if…

My step daughter was heavy in some of the Pro Ani sites when she was younger and really messed her body up - at her worst she was down to 68 pounds and looked worse than a holocust survivor - there was nothing we could do because she had all the control over her body. It is so sad because now that she's in her mid 20's and…

can't get much more Midwestern than me....born in Kansas, lived in Nebraska, Iowa and after a few years of living in NY moved back to Iowa ... now outside St Louis, MO. Add me also any of y'all Midwesterners!!

fellow Type 2 here. I'm 55 and was diagnosed about 4 years ago. I take metformin and glyburide besides exercise and diet. My numbers were consistantly in the 200's until I started here .... this morning it was 71 and I've felt great since I've started losing a little weight. Add me if you'd like....I'm also a member of the…

I won't walk into a grocery store without a list. I make a detailed list of everything I need and how many (like 5 bananas, 4 oranges, 3 apples, 2 cans of tuna, etc.). If I didn't have a list I wouldn't know what I have on hand or what I'm out of and would buy the things I don't need more often that things I do need. If I…

I make the squash in the microwave not in the oven - the oven makes it too mushy for me. I eat the squash with marinara and a turkey pattie or without meat. I love it and buy 2 squash at a time.
