Low carb usually means to 50-100 per day range. I try to keep mine under 50. See also the thread "Are Carbs More Addictive Than Cocaine?" for more info on why you're still hungry.

Take your measurements. NOW. Getting lean and fit is about more than the number on the scale. And really, aren't you trying to get smaller? And start ramping up your workouts, add weight training. It's the only way to reshape your body and improve measurements even more. Look at your protein/carb/fat ratios. Low carb,…

Seriously, what's more important? The number on the scale or the size of the clothes in your closet? You may want to check your protein/carb/fats levels, too. I'm a big fan of low-carb, recently read Gary Taubes' "Why We Get Fat" and HIGHLY recommend it to everyone!!

Try changing your carb/protein/fat ratios. Reduce all carbs, especially refined "white" carbs like flour, sugar, and alcohol. Go sugar-free if you have the choice in products. I'm a big advocate of low-carb eating, especially after reading "Why We Get Fat" by Gary Taubes. Good luck.

Low-carb. And I'm reading Gary Taubes' newest book "Why We Get Fat & What To Do About It."

I'm trying to limit it to twice a week, Wednesdays & Saturdays. I tend to obsess if I'm on the scale daily.

If you're jogging around your apartment, are you on tiptoes? To keep from thumping the floor/ceiling? The act of running (for real) usually means striking the ground with the heel of the leading foot, rolling to the toes and pushing off. If you're compromising the motions because of limited space or noise concerns, you may…

Save your money. A "cleanse" is nothing of the sort. They're generally just a bunch of stuff that will make you poop. What you want is probably more of a cold-turkey dropping of those bad carbs.

Find something of a known weight and test your scale. If you used it that many times, right close together, it shouldn't be varying that much. Also, don't rely completely on your scale. Take your measurements. If you're exercising, even weeks when the scale doesn't change you may see a reduction in inches (which is what we…

A bump is to put the topic back on the first page.

You're more likely to be "harmed" be the pesticides and herbicides you use in your own garden and lawn. And who defines "harmful pesticides?" Organic farms DO use pesticides and since they use "organic" ones, they use 10 times as much to do the same job. And don't forget what they use to fertilize: that's right...all…

This may be an issue of WHAT you're eating rather than how much. If you're eating a lot of carbs or sugars or junk, yes, you're going to be hungry quickly because you haven't actually fed your body anything that can satisfy it. I'm a big advocate of protein first. Dense protein (chicken, fish, etc) will fill you and keep…

Instead of relying completely on the scale, take your measurements. Muscle weighs MORE that fat but occupies less physical space. So yes, you can gain weight but be smaller (which is what you want, right?), especially after starting a rigorous workout routine. Cheers Kat

It's utter bull****.

I want to go back to Australia! Never met a nicer bunch of people traveling. Cheers Kat

Are you going to take this for the rest of your life? If not, plan on gaining as soon as you stop. Maintaining ANY weight loss is hard enough without screwing up your body with drugs of any kind. Conversely, being stable at a slightly higher than desirable weight is infinitely better for you than yoyo-ing. And once you've…

To change your body composition you have to build muscle. Trade off some of the aerobic for some weight training and that will help reduce body fat everywhere, including your thighs. There is no such thing as spot reducing. cheers Kat

I don't like veg either. Nor fruit. Never have, probably never will. I can tolerate some vegs when they're IN something else: finely diced mushrooms in marinara sauce, for example. Why force yourself? Life is too short to eat things you don't like. Take a multivitamin, find a source of anti-oxidants (some vitamins have…

Add Just Dance 2 and the Michael Jackson games to your Wii repertoire and have FUN getting aerobic! Cheers! Kat

Is it the kind of place where they cook on the hot table top in front of you? That style usually has lots of veg with smaller meat portions which is what you should be looking for. Or jump on-line and have a look at their menu. Most places post nowadays. Cheers and happy anniversary! Kat

It's not always about the scale. Take your measurements. I'm guessing you want to BE smaller/thinner rather than just weigh less. Muscle mass weighs more than fat but occupies lots less space. Cheers Kat

Try not to project too much into the future. If you can be certain that you're not gonna slip or fail today, then be good with that. If you need to take it down to "I'm not gonna binge/overeat/snack this minute" then do that, too. If you truly are sabotaging yourself, you may want to take a look at why. Are you afraid of…

My sister bought some shape ups and doesn't like them. They're too cushy and don't have the stability and support for her. Unfortunately she'd worn them outside and is now stuck with them. Cheers Kat

I have watched my sister live low-carb since June last year and she has lost over 50 lbs. She's found products like Carbquik (replaces Bisquik) so she can indulge her longing for blueberry muffins & pizza. She found a great cold cereal that tastes great with a little fat-free half & half. Check sites like Netrition.com for…

So your heart rate is getting up there but how's your recovery time? If HR is 200 when you stop, rest for 1 minute then recheck. It should recover very fast if you're working hard regularly. I used to do martial arts and after a 2-3 minute kata or sparring, my heart would be pounding at 170+ but after I rested for a minute…

Go cold turkey. The first day or so might be awkward but it gets easier really quickly. You'll need to start really checking ingredients to make sure it's not creeping back in under pseudonyms: any ingredient that ends in -ol is probably sugar alcohol in disguise. There are tons of artificial sweeteners that can keep a…

When I worked out after work, I'd have a snack around 2:30 or 3 to be ready for a brutal class at 5. The snack would be moderate, half a sandwich or a nutrition bar with a decent protein content. I work out in the AM now and don't eat til I've showered afterwards. :) Cheers Kat
