  • I'd get a heart rate monitor...I got one off Amazon for about $40 (that included shipping).
  • At the top of your page is a link called HELP. It lists this response to your question: I would note, though, that this doesn't always happen so you may want to go into MY HOME, GOALS, CHANGE GOALS, GUIDED...then just save it and see if it updates. For some reason mine hasn't always updated on its' own.
  • She wants to change the RMR...which is not listed here so that particular number cannot be changed. You can only change the actual goals.

  • What did MFP suggest as your daily calorie goal? http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/my_goals

  • Do what works for you. Eating back calories doesn't work for everyone so you have to decide what works for you. Essentially, the thought process is that you should not eat less than 1200 net calories per day if you are female. Net calories would be total eaten - total burned. If you eat 1800 and burn 800 you would have a…
  • I think you posted this on the wrong site.

  • I'm still trying to find my motivation again. This is the 3rd time I'm trying to lose the same stinking weight and it's so much harder this time. Can't figure out why...guess I've just gotten comfortable and lazy! Good luck!
  • I really don't think 2 weeks is enough to draw any sort of difinitive conclusion. I think you will find that your body is going to do whatever it wants at times and you could do everything exactly as you should and you might still gain weight. There is no right or wrong way to do this. It all depends on what your body will…
  • Muscle does NOT weigh more than fat. It DOES; however, take up less space and look entirely different. A pound is a pound no matter what you're measuring. It's how much space it takes up that counts. For this reason, you should DEFINITELY consider lost inches a huge success! It's not always going to show up on the scale…
  • I would mark it as sedentary so you don't overestimate your daily burn. Then, if you do intense cleaning or housework, you could log that as activity and earn/burn extra calories if you want.
  • Generally speaking, eating less than 1200 net calories per day isn't considered a healthy choice but you may speak with your doctor and see if they have any suggestions. If they provide you a different plan, just go to My Home, Goals, Change Goals, Custom and change your daily calorie goal. Good luck!
  • It's under the HELP section at the top of each page silly!
  • I try to keep sugar free pudding snacks in the house so I can get a chocolate fix if I need it for only about 60 calories depending on the brand and they are already portion controlled.
  • Well, there are tons of posts about the log in counter resetting itself by mistake so I don't know that anyone, other than Mike, has an accurate accounting of their days logged in.
  • They have a "healthy" menu but make sure you ask them to not use butter or oil in anything. Stick with egg whites, fresh fruit and unbuttered bread/toast/etc.
  • Congrats on making it this far, even with those setbacks. You're right...life can get in the way sometimes but it's all about how you deal with it and it sounds like you are in the right frame of mind. It's hard not to get hung up on the scale numbers but feeling better is definitely more important. Good luck on your…
  • Because most of the items in the database are user entered, the measurements will vary based on whatever is being used by the person entering it. Usually, there are multiple entries with different measurement options. If not, you may just have to add a new entry with the appropriate measurements that you need.
  • Depends how big your glass is! Seriously, 8 ounces
  • In your food diary search "breastfeeding", then pick the appropriate entry and it will add more calories to your daily goal.
  • Yes, go by the box that the food item came in. Most items on the site are user entered so there will be variations for location, error and changes by the manufacturer.
  • Strength training isn't really going to help with saggy skin like you are describing. Good old cardio will be the best bet to get rid of rolls and such; however, strength training will help the muscles underneath that skin/fat tone up to make it look better faster. Sorry, not much help but those areas are hard ones to…
  • I totally agree...there is no way for any system or person to predict exactly how much weight you will lose, even if they know exactly what you are eating and burning. Just remember that you may have weeks where you eat "perfectly" on plan and don't lose anything or even gain. That's normal and you shouldn't worry about…
  • No, if she enters a 1 lb goal but that requires a daily calorie intake goal of 1000 calories MFP will always make the minimum daily goal 1200 and then adjust the projected weight loss based on that minimum.
  • The system will never set a guided daily goal of less than 1200 calories. If the calculation for you to lose 1 lb per week would put you below that, the system will not calculate it. If you go to the custom goals screen and change the daily calorie goal you can see the projected weight loss changing on the bottom right…
  • I wonder if resistance bands might be a way to get some sort of muscle training in without causing too much strain on other areas?
  • 1 nutrient over goal for 1 day isn't going to ruin your life. Put it behind you and move on!
  • I don't think it's possible. My son likes this better than regular bacon but won't eat it unless it's crispy. He said my grandma did it because she fried it in grease and butter! Kind of defeats the purpose, eh?
  • Yes, if it goes in your mouth you should log it. Even low calorie veggies add up if you eat enough of them. You may find you are closer to your daily goal than you think if you truly log everything.
