  • That's great! When I first started, I added a lot of friends. Right now, all but two of those friends are still active!
  • MFP will give you the starvation mode warning anytime you are under 1200. Accordingly, 1200 is not starvation mode, however 1199 might be? If you are a few calories under, I wouldn't worry about it. However, if you keep finding yourself full after eating 800 calories or less, i would add some high-calorie "super foods"…
  • It's called plateau. Try different things, including increasing calorie intake, decreasing calorie intake, increasing workout, changing your macros, ect. There's a lot of threads on the board about this topic. Good luck!
  • 1500 might be too high. I am 5`0, starting weight was similar to yours (155) and I am eating 1350 calories. The weighloss has been slow but steady. Edited to add: I am also doing EM2LW, but since my BMR is so low due to my height, I am eating at 1350 calories. I sometimes go above and beyond that, but never by more than…
  • Yes it is possible. I don't think there is anything wrong with focusing on calories for weight loss. But this should be a first step only. Once you are losing weight, and getting closer to your goal weight, you will feel better, and exercising will come easier. It's okay to wait, but don't put it off. You can lose weight,…
  • After the intially water weight loss, I have been losing about 1 lb a week.
  • My settings are adjusted to around 140g carbs, and I have been losing steadily. Rice was a staple before I started counting calories. It was hard, but just limit your portions. I can eat the same kinds of food, I just limit my intake of carb rich foods like rices and noodles. I don't feel light-headed though, but I also…
  • What are your stats, starting weight and goal weight? For many of us, our journey to our goal weight will take several months!
  • Soda and other sugary drinks were my problem. Now they are not worth my calories. I allow myself one once in awhile as a treat though!
  • Yes, I have been losing 1-1.5 pounds a week eating around 1000-1200 calories a day. I am not hungry, but I have to really restrict what I eat in order to maintain this goal. I am thinking of increasing my calories to see if that makes a differences, but I am worried about gaining.
  • Hey Dan, so what is your recommendation for someone who wants to increase their calorie intake from 1200 to whatever is 20% below TDEE? Increase all at once, or slowly increasing 100 calories a day/week? I'm on 1200, and I feel full, but I do have to limit the foods I eat in order to maximize my calories.
  • I don't measure lettuce, cucumbers or carrots in my salad. If this puts me over, so be it!
  • Everyone is different. I have been steadily losing 1 pound a week eating 1000-1100 calories a day. I exercise 3 times a week, and I don't eat back my calories.
  • I added you! I'm also 5`0, looking to lose another 20 pounds. Looking for friends as well, so feel free to add me! Thanks

  • I make an asian dressing using rice wine vinegar, sesame seed oil and sugar. One tablespoon is under 60 calories, and enough for a large salad. Add to that chicken breast, boiled eggs and other vegetable, and it makes a complete meal at under 200 calories. I like to add fried wonton strips, bringing the total to around 300…
  • One egg yolk has around half the recommended daily limits of cholesterol for a healthy person. I love eggs, but I try to limit myself to 14 whole eggs per week, with no limitations for the egg whites.
  • I say only eat if you are hungry. If you are not hungry, you don't have to eat. One day of eating only 800 calories is not going to cause your body to go into starvation mode. Just don't make that number a habit.
  • Thank you to everyone for your input. i will be logging those bites now! Thankfully I am satisfied with only one bite!
  • I think this will be a good test as to whether or not this is a lifestyle change for you, or just a fad diet. My main goal is to get to the point where I won't need to count calories on a daily basis, and still maintain my weight. However, I'm not there yet at this point. Counting calories has really helped me in learning…
  • 5'0, eating 1000-1200 calories. My bmr is around 1440, and if I ate that, I would only be losing 1/2 a pound a week, if that. Eating an average of 1100 allows me to lose one pound a week.
  • Now that it is summer, I'm loving watermelon! One cup is only 45 calories. I usually have this as a snack twice day. So sweet and juicy!
