  • I too start, stop, start, stop...I'm vacationing out west right now and am gearing up to get back to SL on my return home this weekend.
  • Did you use "desk job with little to no activity" as the activity level to come up with 1717? If I put that in - i get 1725. Not that that is a HUGE difference lol. I just always use "lightly active" b/c I figure I'm getting at least an hour and a half to 2 hours of exercise a week.
  • Giusa - to answer your questions: 1. I set my protein/carbs/fat to the suggested 40/30/30. Protein 137/Carbs 183/Fat 61 I get really close to all of those (sometimes I go over on fat) 2. Calculators - scooby/em2wl/and every other one I could find. 3. My week: SL (Mon/Wed/Fri) and cardio (Tues/Thurs) I admit, I do weigh on…
  • Well now I feel guilty for saying no kids - I have one, it's just that he's 23 and out of the house so I'm not chasing him around lol. Yea I was thinking that my total workout time at 2 hours isn't really much either. My plan is to up my activity more each week. After a long break from my fitbit, I put it back on this…
  • Thank you guys for your insight. It makes so much sense to not go up on something (right now that would be OHPs) if I'm already struggling with the current weight. Crazy but I didn't even think about doing an extra set or adding extra reps with current weight. That is one reason I love this board. And it makes me feel…
  • I'd like to jump in and say that I too have divorced my scale. I found that I let it ruin any of the good feelings I feel by lifting. Now don't get me wrong, I still weigh, but it's not very often and I don't fret over it so much. I feel good and I feel strong and that makes me happy. This is probably the longest I've hung…
  • If everyone doesn't mind, can I add you guys too? I'm always looking for food ideas-mainly protein sources. Thanks!
  • Hi 5minty! I'm new to stronglifts also. Starting the 3rd week of it this week. I enjoy having only 3 moves to keep up with. So far, I'm loving this program. I read here daily for motivation and alot of the girls here are really up there in the numbers they are lifting. It's very encouraging! Anyways - just wanted to say…
  • you have described my body! I hate my hips and thighs and have been trying to walk 30 minutes a day (if it rains I get on the elliptical) along with lifting to see if that helps with all of the cellulite. The top of my body is so much smaller than the bottom. I sure hope that lifting + walking slims my bottom half down…
  • If there was a like button, I would like this. I get what you are saying. I think it's probably a reminder of you working out. There are weirder things to like I suppose. lol
  • Thanks. I haven't bought the book or anything but I love to read about what and how stuff is working for peeps.
  • nufertiri - you are right...before beginning stage 2, i was nervous about it also. heck i've been in it so long now, I'm an old pro! lol And I too have been trying to curb any lazy habits and I'm slowly making progress. I keep telling myself I'm not in a race. I do feel stronger then I did before I started lifting - so…
  • Glad to see peeps posting. I'm still here, still in Stage 1 as I keep having delays and I also decided to do it a second time. I will admit, I'm a little intimidated by Stage 2 - I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to do it! Guess I need to buck up and give it a whirl when the time comes.
  • Hi nufertiri - I found a couple of things on facebook that might interest you: CRUNCHES (Swiss Ball / Reverse) Jan. 7, 2014 I asked Alwyn if there were any other changes to the NROLFW other than doing planks instead of crunches. He said: "That's about the only change where I do not recommend the old program at all. That…
  • I took a week off last week due to a back issue and started back on Stage 1 today. I started with the 3 sets of 10 and it was difficult for me. I guess my fear is I'm not ready for Stage 2 so I may repeat Stage 1 again I haven't decided yet.
  • Just an update. It turns out I'm actually only up 1 pound from my weekend binge, and I went back to my place in Stage 1 today which was the beginning of the 3 sets of 10 and phew it kicked my butt. But I did it and I'm glad I did. Onward and upward.
  • Thanks for replying mouse...I work out at home also so I think I'd feel more comfortable going through it again.
  • Still here...still rambling lol. Continuing stage 1 and increased weights on a few things today. Shew it's harder than I thought but I will say I feel strong and proud of myself. Did anyone do Stage 1 twice basically for the fact that you didn't feel ready to move to Stage 2?
  • I too can be all or nothing and for now I'm in the "all" phase - let's hope it lasts. And this week was my 2nd full week of NRoL4W and I feel like my shape is changing (for the better). I don't measure b/c I always measure in the wrong places but my clothes seem to fit better and I'm hoping it's not just wishful thinking.…
  • Wow you've had alot going on....glad you are getting back in the swing of things. I'm not nearly as far along in the "being very active" lifestyle but I'm getting there.
  • kimiuzzell - so what does your schedule look like doing both? are you doing all stages of NRol4w? do you alternate weeks with SL? I'm curious as to how you make this work...thanks! mmebouchon - hi! glad someone else is reading too. I find these these boards help me stay motivated and i love seeing everyone's comments and…
  • Thanks kimiuzzell for replying..makes me feel good that I'm not talking to myself lol. I think I may look more into the SL5x5's. I have limited time/equipment myself and it might be good to shake things up. Do you have a book about the SL5x5 or is it web based? Oh and that's great that you had changes early on also - I…
  • Wow good job...look at that arm! I hope I can have that result one day. And hey I have smudgy mirrors too lol
  • Ok I'm assuming someone is reading here so I'm gonna ramble lol...halfway thru my 2nd week of Stage 1. I feel leaner (probably just wishful thinking but hey I feel good so I'm going with it). I'm sticking with it - lifting, logging food, focusing on more protein, etc. I hope my determination lasts. I did pull something…
  • Are there any others out there just starting Stage 1? Would love to hear from everyone. I did workout B today and focused more on my form than weights. My weights are pretty low right now but I've been out of the game for awhile. I'm going to start increasing next week. I did substitute planks for the swiss ball crunches…
  • I just read thru this whole thread today and what you said up there is exactly how I feel and what I need to do. i too get caught up in the scale or what others are doing (eating 1000 or less calories a day!!) and forget what works for me. I have GOT to try to not focus on that scale number this time and instead feel the…
  • Hi bmn - I started yesterday (for the 3rd time lol) good luck!
  • Hey guys - I'd love to keep this thread going as I have just started Stage 1 this week (for the 3rd time - life and being old got in the way! lol) I read here ALOT and it encourages me when everyone posts. I'm 46 years old, overweight and ready to do this for once and all. The first time I started Stage 1, I think I made…
  • I too am 5'7 and weigh 200 even but I'm 46. My calories are less than yours as I have a desk job but I'm trying to work on being more active. I did pick the 1-3 hours a week of light exercise b/c I've been doing the New Rules of Lifting for Women and some walking occasionally. You might want to look into the New Rules…
  • Hi I'll add you  I can always use more friends. I'm not an expert on the numbers part of this but I can tell you some of the things I eat to get all of my calories/protein. Lots of greek yogurt, chicken, tuna, fish, eggs and occasionally protein bars. I really don't limit myself too much on what I eat in regards to…
