My first thought is that it's very low in calories. Can you swap the iceberg lettuce for other leafy greens like spinach, kale, green/red leaf, or even romaine? You get more "bang for your buck" with those. I see a lot of corn, and while I love corn, can you add veggies that are less starchy, such as more cucumbers,…

What I have found is the most helpful is limiting "simple carbs" (bread, pasta, white rice, etc) to only one serving a day, ideally earlier in the day, and filling in the rest of my day with veggies (lettuce, spinach, kale, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, etc), some fruit (apples, berries, pears, occasionally…

Well, for me, if I cut out meats, I'll have a harder time getting enough protein (which is something that's hard for me anyway). I'm allergic to beans (I get hives and vomit a lot, not pretty) and tree nuts (canker sores in my whole mouth and down my throat). So, if I didn't eat meat, eggs, fish, dairy, etc, I'm not sure…

I'm not married, no kids, full time job, etc; but I love to cook for my boyfriend. However, it's something I decide on my own to do, because I want to do it, and because he likes what I fix, not because it's expected or required of me. And yes, I do make things that I know he loves, that I don't especially love (nothing I…

When I overdo it on breads, pastas, and baked goods (i.e. sweets), and therefore feel sluggish and bloated, a day or two of eating just fruits, veggies, dairy (milk, cottage cheese, yogurt), and chicken (or fish), makes me feel so much better. Of course, I also drink lots of water, and at least once up of coffee, but…

I like large curd cottage cheese, but NOT fat free. Either 2% or full fat for me. I eat it either plain or with fruit. Eta: Any brand I've tried, I've liked, as long as it's not fat free.

If I were making this, I'd cut the cheese in half, use fat free sour cream (instead of heavy cream), and cut the scallions completely. I also usually use water instead of oil for sauteing.

Thanks! I've ordered a digital food scale, and it should be here within the next few days. As the weather warms up a bit, a co-worker and I usually spend about 30 minutes during lunch walking around downtown where we work, which is great.

I'm not really a breakfast person, but I've discovered with working out in the morning, if I don't eat something, I'm ready to gnaw on my desk by 11am. So, I either have something like cottage cheese or Three Gain Peanut Bread (below). This is the original recipe, you can cut the sugar down as much as you want, or use…

That's pi day! (Greek letter, also 3.14)

I would love to see the answers you get! Sadly, I cannot offer any real advice.

I get up and am out the door by 5:40 to hit the gym before work. For me, no coffee until I've worked out. That is is great motivation for me. Also, it only took me about a week to start waking up by 5:30 every day, even without my alarm.

Thank you!

What do you recommend as a good way to start for those of us who can't even do one pullup or chinup?

I lost the three pounds in January, instead of re-gaining and losing, since I'm actually able to stay around 1500 calories, and be satisfied. For strength training, I'm just doing what a friend is doing: Mon: Seated row, bicep curl, back extension, torso rotation Wed: Leg extension, leg curl, glutes Fri: tricep press,…

I'm your height, and was a huge klutz though high school, so I never attempted heels until more recently. My advice is to start with thicker, shorter heels, don't go for 5" stilettos right away. For work, I usually stick to 2-2 1/2", with a "thick" heel. For going out I've made it to 3" stilettos, but that's as far as I…

I'm with you! Even kitty litter, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms... those are all fine. Folding laundry is my downfall.

When I had the flu, I lived on orange juice and hot tea for three days. Not the best diet as far as nutrition goes, but that was all I could keep down. If it's just for a few days, and as you feel better you add back real food, I don't think it's as big of a problem, as long as you stay hydrated. For me, it was three days…

So, if one has this deliciousness, one must eat mostly raw vegetables for the rest of the day. At least, that's my understanding.

My one here is pretty good. There are always plenty of machines (weight and cardio) free, as well as free weights and the lifting racks (Smith racks?). Of course, I go at 5:30am so I never have to wait for anything. You can also sit down with a trainer and set up a plan for whatever your goals are. I have yet to see free…

If I eat one bite of ice cream, that usually turns into the whole container. I have two ways to help with that. First, I don't keep in in my freezer, and when I do have a craving for it, I eat a whole vegetable (like a pepper or carrot), and then get one of those tiny containers from the grocery store. They're one serving…

My sister is vegetarian-ish (I'm not totally sure what it's called): no meat (including chicken and fish), no cheese, eggs only baked in stuff (and that's only if someone else makes it - I think she usually uses some flax seed and something else substitute). She does eat milk, yogurt, and ice cream. Most of her protein…

In the five miles between where I live and my gym there is: Arbys, Little Ceasers, Pizza Hut, two Starbuks (weankess 1), McDonalds, Long John Silver, Burger King, Wendy's, Panera (weakness 2), Chic Fil A, Hardees, Sonic, a Thai place, two Mexican places, two Chinese places, Awful Arthurs, Subway, and…

For me personally, I think it's more what those carbs are. I retain more water with "white" carbs: white pasta, white bread, white rice, white potatoes, etc, which does make me weigh more the next morning. However, if I get all my carbs from raw fruits and veggies, and whole rolled oats, brown rice, etc, I don't retain as…

Growing up, almost every Sunday lunch was pot roast. Either chicken or beef, often in crockpot with veggies (carrots, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, onion, celery), about a cup of water, and cook until the meet was done. Then, we'd put the leftovers in a casserole dish for Monday dinner, making a white sauce (or gravy)…

First, I'm not a doctor or nutritionist, or anything like that. My suggestion would be to add some dairy in (or a source of calcium), and up your calories a bit. When I was a student, I had access to free work out training, an on campus gym (also free), and I simply walked almost everywhere except to my night class that…

I usually start the day drinking 3-4 cups of water, and then drink more throughout the day, usually netting over 10 cups of just plain water, plus coffee, tea, and milk on top of that. However, back when I started being more conscious about how much water I drank, and I realized how little I was drinking because it was…
