  • Worth investing in one for pole?!
  • I just wear a normal vest top with my pole shorts, I've never relied on gripping with my side unless I really have to with certain moves (very conscious about my bloated belly!). As Helenium said, there aren't any clothes that will give you that extra grip so it might just be worth getting used to not having the grip with…
  • I just tend to use my warm ups and stretches as a way of getting cardio in before I jump onto the pole! It probably would help to do more cardio in order to get rid of the fat, but like you I find it so boring! :grumble:
  • Just came back from a class where I thought I'd be too tired to do anything, but managed to actually make some progress for the first time in ages! Finally managed to get from an invert into an upright position in one fluid move... as well as starting off in a gemini and a gemini has been my nemesis since being introduced…
  • Welcome to the group! :) How long have you been poling for? Seems you have the same issue as me, have the muscle, it's just hidden behind all this pesky fat! :grumble: Anyway, feel free to add me! :flowerforyou:
  • I grew up on Canvey Island but then moved to Surrey with my boyfriend. Feel free to add me! :)
  • I'm new to this group, but I'm about to do day 4 of Level 1 tonight before I go to bed. I've done it every day so far, and it has been really tough as I do pole classes on a Monday so my arms are usually quite stiff a few days after, and my knees have really been hurting, but I'm hoping to work through it! :ohwell:
  • Well I can't do those grips yet lol, those are my pole goals for the year! My caterpillar climb isn't complete; I can lift myself up so my knees are bent and my bum is in the air, but I cannot for the life of me slide my legs up the pole to complete the climb, I just don't have the strength yet!
  • I think for me it's getting my grips down, liek the elbow grip and the caterpillar climb. I'd also like to strength up my wrist so I can do a flag without feeling like the bone is about to snap! Ultimate goal: I'd LOVE to be able to do ayesha, but I doubt that'll take me as little as a year to do! :grumble:
  • I've been doing pole for nearly 2 and a half years now and I couldn't imagine life without it! I have a pole at home too (treated myself after the first six months of going to classes) and so I try to get some practise in at least once a week. I would recommend XPole too, probably one of the best around in terms of safe…
  • That's what I was thinking, it must be! :ohwell:
  • Well Chrome is the only finish I've ever used, so I have nothing to compare it with. It can go from being not grippy at all when it's cold, to being super grippy when it's warmed up. I'm a bit 50/50 in terms of what is more difficult to do moves on... I think my pole is easier when it comes to moves like the split grip…
  • Mine's a chrome pole and I think it's either 40 mm or 45... I know it's thinner than the one I use in class as I have more difficulty wrapping my fingers around the one in class than I do at home! To be honest if you have large hands, I highly doubt it would matter so much which thickness it is unless you have really small…
  • That's a shame! Guess it's always the way though, just because you love a book, doesn't mean you'll love the movie! :ohwell:
  • I've bought pole shorts from X Pole. I wear them to every class now! Try them!
  • Enjoying the films doesn't make anyone less of a Tolkein fan! I live and breathe Tolkein, but I can appreciate the movies and the books are two very different entities!
  • That is one of the main reasons I bare a grudge aginst the LOTR trilogy as Tom Bombadil and the Barrow Wights was such a brilliant part of the book, I was gutted they got left out! They're still 3 of my fave films though! I've seen the animated LOTR film, but not the hobbit one!
  • I've lost count of how many times I have seen this film now (helps having a copy sent from BAFTA to watch at home!) I think I'm actually going to enjoy this trilogy a lot more than LOTR by what I've seen so far... I love the fact there is just so much kept in from the book, and obviously stuff taken from the Silmarillion…
  • After seeing The Hobbit last night, I am in the mood for reading the book again for the umpteenth time! I can never tire of Tolkein! :D
  • Nice one! Well done Fae! I am so pleased with myself today! I had my old pole friend come round to do a bit of practise, as she hasn't been going to classes for quite a while and I decided to try out her signature move, the starburst, which I have never been able to do since starting pole. But today, I randomly was able to…
  • Wow you look amazing! Well done hun! :D
  • Wow you look amazing! Well done hun! :D
  • Yeah I always get bruising on my feet if we do a lot of climbing in class, don't really get it as much anymore as we mainly concentrate on the inverted moves. But yeah do not skrimp on a pole, it's better to know you're getting a decent pole that won't fall on you every time you use it!
  • I think I have the opposite situation to most people here. Walking around I feel fine and when I look in the mirror I don't feel so bad; my clothes are pretty much falling off me because I've lost so much weight. My problem is when I have my picture taken, I think that I look huge and that I look the biggest I've ever…
  • Hi... I'll try and answer as much as I can: 1, Yes my arms felt like they were about to fall off after my first lesson, and sometimes, after a good workout on the pole, my arms will still hurt, albeit not so severely. I don't think the pain will go away if you're really doing a good workout, it just gets easier and not so…
  • That's great! Keep it up! I remember how hard it was building up the strength for climbing, and now it's a breeze! And remember to wear those bruises like badges of honor! ;)
  • A lot of those cosplayers I saw when I went on the Saturday! Was a brilliant day! :)
  • Was surprised at what a good pole lesson I had last night, considering I've never had a pole class on a Monday and in the winter I'm usually a lot more sluggish... I managed to achieve a great Mantis move first time round and I can really feel my split grip butterfly getting a lot stronger... shouldn't be too long before I…
  • I have had the pole up for over 18 months and the pole only fell recently, so it lasted a little more than a few days lol! ;) We have learnt from our mistake thougha nd have moved the pole away from the indentation it has made in the floor, so we should have any issues with it now for a while! I don't tend to put my pole…
  • What Evey_bee said! :) I have had the pole fall down once when my friend tried to do a spin, but tha was probably because it was on carpet and wasn't done up as much as it could go.
