  • When you switch from a consistent deficit to a maintenance, you will automatically gain 2 to 5 lbs (depending on height and weight). In a deficit, your glycogen stores are chronically deficient and your body will seek to fill them as soon as you have the calories available. Also, you should be careful in determining what…
  • For me a HRM was essential for me starting to learn to run. I failed time and time again because I didn't know how to pace myself and would go out too fast and burn out before I really even got started. My HRM was an essential tool for me to track my pace and keep my heart rate in a productive range. C25k is an interval…
  • Run to feel great. You need to eat less to lose fat. Running will help support and enhance your progress but if you don't sustain a consistent calorie deficit primarily by controlling your food, you won't lose significant fat/weight.
  • Awesome progress...keep the focus
  • I think logging is as important when beginning maintenance as it is during the fat loss process. I would slowly raise your calories over a period of weeks. You are likely showing a lower than "true" weight because you are eating in a deficit and are perpetually depleted. In the end, you want your average weight to be at…
  • Congrats!! and most importantly, you look great; healthy and happy :)
  • Amazing transformation!!
  • I have had one for years and it was my primary exercise (daily) for many months when I started at MFP. I have drifted away from it because I started running when I got lighter and now race. The elliptical is a fantastic tool and built a strong cardio base for me but it doesn’t translate to running. Make sure to adjust it…
  • I am struggling through the the same process. In the end, lowering body fat % is all about keeping your calories in a deficit. Eating TDEE-10% (200 calorie deficit at best, so I would guess) might not be enough since there is some margin of error in logging and if you have a couple big days during the weekend which easily…
  • I weigh myself every morning on a scale that grabs each weigh-in by wifi and logs it. I have a terrible time with the scale fluxuations if I only weigh myself weekly. Somehow having high or low days doesn’t bother me but the idea of working hard all week and finding myself gaining seemed depressing. My weight regularly…
  • Don't lose yourself in taking care of others. Seems selfless at the surface but in the end you'll have less to give if you don't take care of yourself first. Don't worry about how you used to feel, or thought you felt but worry about how you'll feel at 40 or 45 years old. Life is a long journey and there is nothing worth…
  • An amazing transformation :) Bravo on your efforts and success.
  • Dropping my iphone on the treadmill and having it spit off the back and under a book shelf. Took me almost an hour to empty the shelf, move it, grab my phone and put it all back together.
  • It is amazing how much heat you produce running. Running in the cool rain really demonstrates how hot we can make ourselves. I avoided it for a while but have learned not to just endure it but embrace it.
  • Amazing post and success. Should be required reading for everyone here
  • A repost from my blog http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/alienrite/view/day-415-there-is-a-magic-bullet-563796 Looking back on my own progress and watching my friends for over a year, I have noticed one thing works every single time; Consistency wins and works every single time. Like so many, I have often thought that…
  • Amazing work and progress. Thank you for sharing :)
  • I have consistently (once or twice a week) drank throughout my entire weight loss process. I just tried to keep it all under my calorie allotment. Most of the time, it worked and I was successful (1.2-1.4 lbs actually lost per week vs 2.0 lb goal). I might have been better had I not drank anything but life needs to be…

  • The comments about looking younger are really such a surprise.
  • Most amazing, I got my photo to post correctly; sized right and everything.
  • I have been involved with the Adonis Index (male version) and it is a great program. They charge more that most because they provide some pretty fantastic information and guidance. Part of the reason it is expensive is they make most of their money from subscriptions and not from selling supplements or the such. Part of…
  • I use a small running belt. I had an arm band but it never fits right or stays where I want it to. The small running belt sits under my shirt, at my waist band of my shorts and is great to keep a credit card, key fob, and my phone. I never even feel it's there.
  • I have the Fitbit One (replaced my Fitbit Ultra and was a great upgrade) and really enjoy it. It is an activity tracker and not a training aid though (use a HRM for training). It is pretty consistent but it needs to be anchored to your trunk because if I keep in in my pocket, the jostling gives me too many steps. I have…
  • I waited 45 years for my first race and have tried to have at least one a month every since. It isn't always as easy as it sounds but I try. Somehow the most critical or random things come up just before or on race day. I did manage May, June, July and have a big race in August :) I think addicting is an understatement.
  • As a very new runner/racer, it was very confusing for the first couple races. In my last ones (chip timed), they corral you according to your self reported pace. Despite me exceeding my anticipated pace 2 out of 3 times, I am completely floored at how many people race forward of me beyond their ability to sustain a pace…
  • My last consideration and often not even a consideration. Fit is top of my list.
  • Wear what makes you feel the best. Heels look great if worn confidently. Height is only a small part in being manly. Having a beautiful & confident woman on your arm is always a bigger part of being a man than being taller than she is.
