Thanks all. Not so much happier now than a year ago but definitely feeling more in control and have a much lower stress level even though my work is twice as busy. It amazes me that the better I take care of myself, the more effective I am at work and helping others. At my heaviest, everything felt like a burden which is…

I have been working out every morning before work at 5AM with most of my days solid cardio. I never eat or drink anything. Just get up, get dressed and go to it. So far, I haven't had any problems and July 2 will be my one year anniversary of doing it every day no workday missed.

Thanks everyone!! Me looking younger was so not even a consideration when I started by it is nice to hear. Then again, the idea that I would be enjoying running is a complete surprise too.

Finally got my picture to load. Some day I'll get it right the first time.

Being consistent is the most important thing. I can only control my early morning so I workout before work. For me it is the best time. It also lets me enjoy knowing all day that I've done my good work and I don't have to worry about trying to get it in throughout the rest of the day. Also, I get a big surge of energy from…

I couldn't find an armband that I liked so I got a running belt. I prefer to think of it as more of a money belt that can hold my phone than a fanny-pack but it is very similar. It is a Runner World Run Lite Pack. I wear it just above my shorts and under my tee shirt. It holds my phone very securely and I don't feel it…

I run before work at 5AM and have been almost entirely training on my treadmill. Longer days and it is light and beautiful at 5AM so I went outside this morning. My pace went from a struggling 9:45 min/mile on the treadmill to a 6:59 min/mile outside with a 22:44 minutes/5k. It was such an abrupt change in pace that I had…

I would eat less than 20% TDEE. There is an error factor which can be as high as 20% so you may be ending up eating pretty much at your maintenance level. In the end, if your calories at 1800 are not leading to a weight loss, then eat less calories. I would think you need to be down another 200-300 to see a measured result.

Fantastic transformation and a wonderful way of looking at your weight loss. I am a huge proponent of weighing myself and learning to understand the natural ups and downs of my weight even though I was losing at a consistent pace (0.22 lbs per day to be exact). Brings a reality to the scale that I had missed before and…

Thank you :)

I do the elliptical every morning before work. I haven't missed a day since July 2. I also sacred running when the weather allows.

Thanks all. Never thought it would make look younger. I was just tired of struggling to put on my socks.

55+ lbs lost in the last year with 50 lbs lost since late June when I joined MFP. Eating smartly below my goal and daily exercise works wonders. I've been losing a steady 1-1/2 lbs per week.

Ellipticals are tricky and can be the best and worst machines to use. They are an engineered repetitive fixed motion which is very prone to causing repetitive motion stress issues if they are not properly sized for the individual (similar to carpal tunnel syndrome). I picked the one I own for primary purpose that the…

You've lost 14 lbs is a very short period of time. Your body will stop that regardless of your method. My suggestion is that you eat a controlled balance diet with restricting processed carbs and sugar (about the same thing). Losing more than 2 lbs a week will result in a rebound in almost everybody. As for the juice fast,…

I am for the first time in my 45 years doing this for me first and foremost. Seems to make a tremendous difference in my ability to commit and stay focused without too much concern about whether anyone else approves or disapproves and I regularly get both. Ironically when I was heavy and at my least healthy, no one seemed…

I've lost in the past but carefully tracking portions (see Zone Diet) and have developed a decent eye for calories and portion size. Even still, I managed to gain weight because I can fool myself and fall into the trap "that one bad meal won't hurt because I know better and can correct". The truth is that I used to eat way…

As long as you are training with weights, it is very difficult to starve yourself enough to lose LBM. As you said, weight lifters prep for contests can drop an extreme amount of weight. A lot of it is water and often assisted with diuretics. I am seeking a similar final goal of being at or below 10% BF. I am almost 45…

How much of the struggle comes from the increase in number of fat cells (hyperplasia)? Does having an excess of fat cells caused by obesity put me in a position where I will always have cells ready and "hungry" to store fat?
-
Losing more than 2 lbs a week is extreme and regardless of the cause, your body will rebound. I have found that I have a very specific average loss as long as I eat under my goal and when I gain or lose faster than my average then I inevitably move towards my average (either for the better or worse). Consistently has been…

I get free gasoline through work for the last ten years

Other than working n building up your leg muscles through strength training, probably not. Fat loss is from wherever you have excess that your body decides to mobilize. Sounds like your legs are already thin so most of the loss will come from the areas that are thicker. In the end your body composition should equalize as…

Under Account Settings in Personal Setting, the is a spot for Calorie Estimation under Preferences.

I keep mine on sedentary and eat back most of my exercise calories. It's been a good and successful system for me and keeps me active

I am working to lose 60 lbs before my 45th birthday in late March and I'm within 9 lbs of hitting the goal

Elliptical would be my choice. I have one and love it. As for which burns most, it's all about how much effort you put into it
-
It's all calories....I'd be more worried about your week with last night's binge.

Losing weight is about your calorie deficit first and foremost. I have a hard time controlling my appetite if I don't restrict my carbs, how you control your calories is a very personal thing. Whatever works and is sustainable is the best way for you. Just listen and learn from your body.
