Growing up in Brooklyn it was soda, heroes and lightning bugs, moved to NJ and it was soda, subs and fireflies. Live in Upstate NY now, still soda and subs but I haven't seen a lightening bug/firefly so I don't know what they call 'em up here.

I work from home mostly so when I'm in the office I take any available desk but there are no extra phones. When I joked to my boss about spending most of the day walking to and from her office every time I had a question, she replied, "That's ok, you could use the exercise." I thought that was somewhat inappropriate, plus…

I made these (again) recently for a 4th of July party at my zumba studio and they were a huge hit. Scooped up before I could even get one and before I mentioned they were low cal/low fat (I used reduced fat vanilla wafers and topped them with fresh strawberries & blueberries). Fantastic recipe...thank you!!!

Now that you've lost the weight, how do you feel seeing old pictures of your fat self? What goes through your mind? I'm grateful that someone cared about me enough to want to forever capture the moment I was experiencing without judgment, and I accept that I am the only person that is/was overly critical of my weight. I…

Another vote for nerdfitness.com. I started using the beginner program a little over a year ago but couldn't do one proper pushup. I can now do 10 (although 9 & 10 are still a bit of a struggle) and my upper body strength has increased dramatically. I've also read that elevated or wall pushups are a good way to start; just…

First record album: Donna Summer, Bad Girls...lol. My uncle gave it to me for my 10th birthday.

Everything.All.Damn.Day...bring on the bacon, slathered in chocolate, rolled in potato chips, and drizzled with maple syrup.

I usually give a wave and try to muster up a smile (grimace) whenever possible. But if I see George_Bailey heading my way, I will be sure to slow down for an *kitten* slap.

1. Yes, every day 2. 60lbs, maintaining for a year 3. No, increasing activity and fitness improves metabolism.

If possible, research your food options before you have to order. A lot of restaurants have nutritional information posted online, or you could scan the MFP or USDA databases for healthier/lower calorie options. And accept that life continues to happen, birthdays, weddings, graduations, etc...expect to have to cut yourself…

All great advice but you asked where to begin...you begin in your own head. Just wanting it to happen is not enough; you have to want to put in the effort it takes to make it happen.

Assuming you don't have a Heart Rate Monitor, I would suggest this site: http://www.exrx.net/Calculators/Calories.html I used it before I bought a HRM and I found it to be fairly accurate. Good luck and great job on finding an exercise regimen that you enjoy!

You have a lower BMI than 88% of females aged 45-59 in your country Global You have a lower BMI than 65% of females aged 45-59 in the world If everyone in the world had the same BMI as you, it would remove 10,834,917 tonnes from the total weight of the world's population You're most like someone from Singapore*

I started at age 43, I'm 45 now and have been maintaining my loss within 5 lbs for the past year. Pics are in my profile if you're interested. You can do this!

That would depend on which entries you are selecting for logging. I generally weigh my food raw and use entries reflecting raw weight. Some food absorbs liquid when cooking (pasta for example) and some loses fat and/or water when cooking. Whichever method you choose. Just make sure you're picking a corresponding entry from…

Ack! I did things like that when I first started. From your phone, you can probably press and hold the entry you want to remove. After a few seconds it should pop up a box that will offer you a delete option. From the website there is a red circle with a white slash going left to right... click on that and it will delete…

This does not clear anything up; it's actually quite vague and misleading. Telling people they will be 'fine' is not definitive at all. Most of us on here counting calories are doing so in an attempt to lose weight. While I agree that eating lean meats, fruits, veggies, etc is good for one's overall health, it is not the…

Eat slowly. Enjoy each bite. Focus on and savor the taste of your meal, and avoid distractions that cause you to eat mindlessly (tv, work, reading, etc). If you start with the correct portion size on your plate and take your time eating it, you will realize that you are full/satisfied with that portion and not go back for…

I saute halved Brussels Sprouts in a drizzle of olive oil, add a splash of lemon juice and some minced garlic halfway through, then a sprinkle of grated Parmesan at the very end.

It could be that if she is using a flex (worn on the wrist) and swinging her arms while walking, it thinks she's being that much more active than your fitbit one which is worn closer to the center of your body and only registering when your entire body is moving. I'm also gonna throw this out there... my fitbit calculated…

I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be harsh, but if you're not losing weight it's because you're not eating at a calorie deficit. Whether you track in your head or on MFP, use a scale or eyeball, exercise or don't; miscalculation of either your caloric intake or burn (or both) is the most likely explanation. Your diary is much…
