I think my 5 days on, 2 days off approach was what had me stuck for a long time. I've just recently decided that I am going to be "good" on weekends too (maybe a glass of wine or something, I"m not saying it's all carrots and lettuce). Anyway now that I don't give myself those days off I've seen a much bigger boost in…

I'm a month in and 10 lbs down. I only have another 10 or so to go. I'm loving it so far and I'm a vegetarian which means my meal options are much more limited. I'm hoping for some bikini pix this summer! This would be the first time I've EVER been in a bikini :)

love it!!

Great job! That's a lot of progress in 1 short month!

Hello fellow DESK FLYERS! I recently "retired" at the early age of 33 from teaching (read: got burned out) and now work at a desk all day. I was worried that going from walking around a classroom/school all day to a desk job would cause me to gain weight. But I walk as much as I can, make sure to get out during my lunch…

Doing the Tower of Terror 10 miler in September and CAN"T WAIT! Did Disney Princess 2011 and it was great! Disney almost ruins you for other races. You find yourself wondering, where are all the characters??

You look wonderful and way more than 40% to your goal!

Going today for a consultation....very curious to see how much it costs. I see they use the Body Media Fit in some of their programs...intrigued.

Very nicely put!!

Great question! I'm anxious to hear from mothers. Some people have told me that if you gain a respectable amount of weight that you'll leave the hospital with only 5-7 lbs left to go...

Very nicely put and a great way to look at things!

If I eat 1800 calories I would be doing what got me here! I'm 5'4" 151lbs and I don't see how eating more would be any different than what I was doing before... advice? :noway:

I don't know how easy this would be as I choose not to eat meat. And like many countries that don't put a huge emphasis on meat, I eat a lot more carbs (Japan, Central America, etc).

Great plan! Welcome!

you look wonderful! Congrats on quitting smoking as well!! What amazing progress in 4 mos!

How? I think the continuation of our species says a lot for what works and what doesn't! They say this is the first generation that will not live longer than their parents, and I think that speaks to our current obesity epidemic and what we're doing wrong. How can you argue with what's kept people alive for thousands of…

So is sour dough bread and white rice considered processed? I thought they were because the germ had been stripped or whatever, but I can't tell from the responses what truly qualifies as "processed."

One time my trainer asked me what I eat and as I was listing it she said "Oh you're still ON bread?" like it was a drug or something!!

Great question as I went out for 8 yesterday thinking I could rely on water fountains,....all of which were OFF! Anyway for long runs I bring and heartily recommend a SPI belt. I have yet to fill it to the max, yet it is the tiniest thing ever. So on long runs I bring: Garmin SPI belt Phone which doubles as MP3 player…

Excellent work! Now that you're closer to your goal, do you think you'll still eat 1800 calories?

Well like I said they know the screwed up and are making lots of changes, like 90 min wave times. I'm wondering if that 90 mins would also give me some wiggle room on that 4:30...
-
Yes I"ve started reading up on last year and it sounds like they have learned a bit from their mistakes. I just can't believe that their cut off time is 4hrs for the HALF but 4:30 for the FULL? That has to be a typo?

for the others-you can scan barcodes from the MFP phone app. THere is a little icon that looks like, well, a barcode, in the top right (on iphone anyway). Rae-thanks, I saw what you're talking about--it's pretty far down so I"ve never seen that little gray box before. For some reason I thought the bar code was like sent…
-
really? How can you do that from the app?

what is a whelk??

did you calcuate your BMR with beard as I'm sure it's much higher.

I totally feel your "pain" and am so into running/doing races that very little will keep me from them. And I'm currently injured as well. That said, can you downgrade from the full to a half or 10k they might be doing at the event?
-
You may want to try some walk/jog combos on those runs until you can build up to a longer base. WHen is the race? I'll add you!
-
Congrats! I was hooked after my first, sounds like you are too! A runner's high combined with a shiny medal == what's not to love??

I used to log losses instantly but I am now going to a weekly weigh in, on Wednesdays like someone else suggested in another thread. Far enough from the weekend to make sure any salt weight is gone but will be sure to keep me on track during the week. So today I weighed myself but I'm not putting any weight into MFP until…
