Reading the book. Since I don't have too much fat, I'm gonna start the Break in and then continue with Hypertrophy I. I've been going to the gym for quite a while, but I need more structure.

Yoga on rest day seems like a great idea. I always thought of yoga as boring, but I guess I did not really know what it all was about. I started downloading a bunch of beginner vids, see what comes of it. Thanks for the tip.

Agree. Cool gear boosts your self-esteem and with it your performance.

Nice. Which part of China?
-
^ this I try to avoid going out, or at least going to places where I can fairly estimate what I eat, like sushi.

If you have the time, the gym is the best (and safest) option. I sold my stuff except for two dumbbells with variable weight plates which I can still can use whenever I lack the time to go to the gym.
-
I did it once, after that I shifted to weights. I still do their Insane abs twice a week.

Mae West used to say "your face or your figure."

Lol - I know the feeling!

Let's agree to disagree. 20 minutes can be effective, depending on the intensity and goal.

Here some tips to become skinny-fat: 1. Eat a Vegan Diet – If you don’t want to eat any meat, your body will just eat you instead. Unfortunately it’s on a low fat diet in this case. 2. Do lots of cardio – Training your body to be catabolic, breaking down muscle and to store fat is great if you want that “I used to be 300…

Bob Ross. Easy on the knees but a killer for wrist and elbow.

Welcome Genkimom and xinnian kuaile. The gym is closed here during these days and I miss working out. Also tracking calories is hard with all this dining out... Luckily all is almost back to normal.

If it went up over one day, it can't be muscle or fat. This article http://www.leangains.com/2010/01/how-to-deal-with-water-retention-part.html gives a lot of info on water retention. I'd like to weigh myself once a day just to see what affects my water household. In the past I used creatine for a short while, which made…

Cheats are okay once in a while. All the fish I eat is wrapped in sushi rolls. Can't stand anything that comes with bones. Oh yea, and the fish jerky from the local supermarket is a real good snack! Low in cals, high in protein and quite tasty too.

Great article Pipil. A must-read for those experiencing weight-loss stall on a deficit.
-
Yea, and if you travel too far you might fall off the edge of the world. Up your calories and decrease your activity, or eat those cals back!

Hi Eva, looking at your diary I'd say cut out the turkish fruit. Have you tried beef jerky or fish jerky for a snack? More protein and less carbs, and personally I find it quite yummy as well. You also could try protein powder to heighten your protein intake. Eggs (w bacon) are good too, but keep an eye on your blood…

I'm looking at it again, an see it's every day. What about recovery (when you actually build strength)?
-
I do legs 2* weekly, and I usually start with squats - but that's more like 5* eight to fifteen with barbell. I've heard that's the best number for building muscle, so I wonder if doing, say, 200 consecutive squats is really beneficial. Any ideas on that is appreciated.

Eyes wide shut

Is that with or without weights?

I can emphasize with you. Chinese are a naturally curious people, and are not very sensitive if it comes to keeping their nose out of someone else's private matters, whether it's what a doctor is doing to you, what you earn, what you are reading on the train, or what you are eating. It's what you said: everything still…

I like how you put it lol: "lot's of mystery". And that's exactly true. Yesterday I found myself picking off a mumbo-jumbo label to unveil the caloric information on imported pudding jars. Took me 10 minutes before I could finally read the macros. I usually then immediately add it to "My Foods" here on MFP, so I won't have…

No.

I somersaulted off my bike a few weeks ago and bruised (I think) my ribs. Coughing hurts, and I keep working out and running, although it seems to slow down or even block the recovery process, but I can't get myself to stop exercising. I've read that tape can hinder breathing and increase the risk for pneumonia. I would…

I was training for a half marathon but fell off my bike and bruised my ribs, so I'm gonna take it back to 5km. I keep lifting, although now most exercises are killing my ribs, but trying to get back on track gradually. The contradicting part is that if the lifting is meant to get bigger, it will slow down your running, and…

47 this month and preparing for the 5km run. Looking for friends with similar goals.

The OP said 1.2 km in 7 minutes, not 1 mile. For half a marathon that would be little over 2 hours. Nevertheless, still, pretty good. For weight loss/fitness I would say give interval running a go, for example run very hard for 30 seconds, then walk or jog for 1 minute. Lengthen the time for speed and shorten the time for…
