  • I agree with the advice to get a kitchen scale. You can get a nice basic one on Amazon for about $20. You'd be surprised how wrong you are when "estimating" - it's usually always a larger portion than you think!
  • But you'd be missing so many wonderful macro and micro nutrients if you stopped eating fruit!!! It wouldn't be something I'd ever consider. I think fruit is just as important as vegetables, just not in the same quantity.
  • To me, it sounds like you are being too strict. Give yourself a break every once in awhile. It also seems like you have it in your head that it's a temporary diet....it's got to be a permanent lifestyle change. There doesn't have to be anything "special" that you need to buy. It's all there for you at the produce dept at…
  • Thank you, i didn't realize she even had a radio show! I don't really find her helpful lately, but I will definitely listen to the older shows, when she hopefully wasn't so commercial! thank you very much for the info!!!!
  • I agree, almond milk (unsweetened) is very good. Whole Foods offers their 365 store brand organic unsweetened almond milk. I also love unsweetened coconut milk from So Delicious. I'd stay away from Soy, especially if it isn't organic. Non-organic is probably GMO, and full of pesticides and toxins, plus there is evidence…
  • Good for you!!!! How exciting!
  • I make steel cut oats in my counter-top convection oven. I find it works much better than on the stovetop, no babysitting. I also heard it's great to cook oatmeal in the slow cooker (crock pot) I usually make enough for 2 days, so I don't have to cook it again the next morning. But I can shower, get dressed, etc while it's…
  • I'm hoping for Ada too. It was a disappointing season all along, except for the very first episode, I wasn't inspired much at all. I agree, too much game play, and they just weren't very likable. I didn't appreciate the trainers this season at all either. They only seemed to care if the contestant lost a ton of weight.…
  • Yay, good for you!
  • (As you stated in your original post,) laughing at someone else's misfortune is mean...and don't get me wrong. I agree, I have been very pleased when I see my husbands' ex is not looking as good as she used to, but it's still mean, no matter how you try to deny it.
  • Karma....but then again, since you are being mean too....hmm, watch out down the road. Karma
  • I was just googling and it appears that hair loss is a side affect for levothyroxine meds. I lost a bunch more weight since my last test, and recently seem to be losing more hair than usual in the shower, so I am having another test done next week.
  • It's measured as a 1/4 cup uncooked. It grows to about 3/4 to 1 cup when it's cooked. Could it be you are calculating it incorrectly?
  • Must be the same people who created the new Kashi ads, comparing eggs to processed cereal! ugh. I don't worry about the new scientific evidence and studies. There is a study that will prove or refute every angle, but the truth is, they really don't know what's going on! Eat clean, eat whole foods, keep away from the…
  • Congratulations!!!! Enjoy your success!!!
  • Good for you! That's awesome!
  • That's the same one I use! Even though I am done losing weight, I still use it daily for most things. Nuts, cheese, pasta, rice, bread, meat
  • I agree, I have reached my goals, and kept on calorie counting. I've even continued to lose more weight. I wonder sometimes if my continuing to calorie count is some sort of superstition, but it really helps to keep my intake in perspective. It keeps me accountable for all my choices, good and bad. I don't know if I'd be…
  • On the web site, go to My Home>Goals>Change Goals and then click custom
  • That's great!
  • oh that is just fabulous! It is a great feeling when you get out of plus size, isn't it? Congrats!
  • Personally, I think it's better (and healthier) to get vitamins and minerals from your food intake, vs pills. I do take a multi-vitamin, fish oil, calcium, magnesium, and vit D, and I wish I didn't have to take that many! Truthfully, the scientists try to isolate the nutrients in food but really they don't realize how many…
  • I try to eat as clean as possible, but I have my cheat days. It's definitely not a good idea to deprive yourself of cheats. You need to look at it as a lifestyle change. Can't look at it as a diet. It's got to be something you can do for the rest of your life!
  • I love the Wii Fit, and I also love the Wii Walk it Out game.

  • I bake a lot of sweet bread (banana, zucchini) and I reduce the sugar content drastically. I also bake with whole wheat and other enhancers like sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, flax, wheat germ, etc Then I figure out the serving size, and measure out 2 servings and freeze 'em in little baggies for later. That way it's away…
  • wow! thanks for the heads up! this is splendid!!! ETA: I just added a recipe. wow, this is awesome. Much more user friendly than spark people, I think. And it will be so much easier to just enter it once here at MFP, and have it ready to use! I love that I can go back and edit it after, although, I would love it if I could…
  • I started reading labels too, and besides the high sugar, so many of these cereals have corn and soy fillers, and if it isn't organic, chances are, it's gonna be from GMO corn and soy. I stay away from processed commercial cereal now and stick with steel cut oats, wheat bran, and other whole grains for breakfast. Kashi Go…

  • I agree, there were weeks that I didn't lose anything, but then all of a sudden, bam, 1 or 2 pounds every few days would melt off. It's just your body getting used to your new lifestyle. Don't give up! Just ride it out, and don't put so much pressure on yourself.
  • welcome!!!! Good luck on your journey here!
