  • Yeah. It appears my problem is not that I need cushioning on the knees, it's that I need to learn to do it right. I went back and looked at the video's and saw that the person demonstrating was not going all the way down on the knee. So I've been doing it wrong all this time. Oh well, I think I did say I was new at this.
  • Sorry my post is confusing. Yes, I step forward and go all the way down to the floor on one knee. The knee on the floor is what gets sore, even though it's carpet. I had not considered not going all the way down, nor am I sure I'm strong enough to only go part way.

  • Driving in Seattle is insane for most people, including those who live there. I once made 4 right hand turns in downtown Seattle (trying to "go around the block"), and didn't end up in the same place I started.
  • First, our jargon would be "freeway" for a Controlled Access Highway, and "highway" for a road that may be 2 or 4 or more lanes but will have intersections with or without stop lights, etc. You get on and off the freeway via the on and off ramps, of course. Just instead of the ramps going to/from frontage roads, they…
  • The notion of a frontage road may be foreign to many people, because they don't exist in many states. I've traveled quite a few states, but not nearly all of them. Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico. None of those states did I see many, if any frontage roads. I live in Oregon…
  • I get a lot of funny looks around town when I wear red. And it's hard to get out of my mustache. So I try to stay to the more subtle colors. Something to match my dress and shoes, usually.
  • Thankfully you just escaped an abusive relationship. See it for what it is. Also recognize that women who have been in an abusive relationship are often prone to go right back into another one. I'm not saying this to be mean or snarky, it just is what it is. You're self-esteem and worth have taken a beating, figuratively…
  • I did Medifast. I lost 128 pounds in about 9 months. Faster than most people can expect, but I had a lot to lose and I'm a guy, so it's easier. I did not feel tired, nor did I lack energy. If anything I had more energy. The only negative symptom I saw was that the last month or two I felt cold. I assume my metabolism…
  • No, you're not the only one. Increased heart rate, sweating, etc. are similar to a panic attack to me. I had a good one while out walking and didn't walk again for a long time. I didn't want to have another attack away from home. Eventually I started with 10 minutes and worked my way back up. I am pretty good at…
  • I liked the way the old layout showed my daily goal, minus what I'd eaten, plus what I'd earned in exercise to result in the total and what I had left. Now I just have what I've eaten and how much I have left. Since I don't eat back all my exercise calories, not having that there is inconvenient.
  • I lost well over 130 pounds all while drinking diet soda. Not every day, but a can or two occasionally through the week, and a 32 ouncer refilled multiple times during dinner out on Monday and Friday evenings. I have maintained now since the beginning of February, and am working on losing a bit more, and I will continue to…
  • I prepare most of my meals. I eat dinner out twice a week and sometimes lunch once. I believe my diary is open. However, preparation and cooking can vary a lot. My meals are all very simple, usually pretty plain and I don't eat a lot of variety. "From scratch" for me is sausage and eggs for breakfast. A salad that is…
  • Overcoming depression and anxiety is hard. Actually I don't know if you ever really overcome it, but you can learn to live with it. You say depression in your topic, but then mention anxiety in your post. Two different things that often go together. My first answer is what worked for me. I won't put it here because it…
  • I don't know why my feet are smaller, but I know that my regular Wal-Mart cheapo size 12's are looser. My slippers seem about the same, but they usually start out a bit snug and stretch. I have a pair of fancy cowboy boots that were given to me 15 or more years ago. I could never wear them for long, because they were too…
  • It can't really make you gain weight unless it somehow changes your metabolism. A lot of people report weight gain on any number of medications, including SSRI's (like citalopram). But it is more likely caused by an increase in appetite, or a change in mood that is allowing you to eat more. There might be some water weight…
  • I see three face pictures in your profile. Which one is the fat one? Cause I don't see it. Edit: Looked again to be sure. BIG brown eyes. Check. Cute cheeks. Check. Fat face. Nope.
  • As one of the aforementioned Christians, I have no real fear of death. The process of dying? Yeah I'm not so keen on that. I'm hoping for the quick "hit by a bus", rather than the lingering in a hospital route. And yes, to whoever said it's not up to me, that is correct. Satan most certainly wants a piece. However, Christ…
  • Seriously, what is wrong with "moist?" And what is a YOLO anyway? Personally, any sort of "text" abbreviations. 2 r u ur y etc. "y r u going 2 ur doc?" It takes more effort to figure out how to type that than to just type it.
  • I would love to be able to fly like a bird. I can think of a number of psychic abilities that would be fun (mind reading, telekinesis. Or that whole throwing balls of fire thing.) I think it'd be killer if I could make those steel like blades come out of my knuckles. Walk on water, or underwater for that matter. Become…
  • I'm trying to figure out how anyone could have looked at that picture long enough to notice that.
  • You have to be kidding me. The public school system that is consistently seeing declines in reading and math scores? That is teaching to the tests and not actually teaching? And even given that the kids can't pass the tests? The public school system that is essentially failing to meet the need of providing a qualified work…
  • Show me where more government regulation and intervention have lowered costs and provided better and more available coverage.
  • And yet you want to put the same government that is not only allowing stuff like this to happen, but promoting it, in charge of our health care? (Remember Fannie Mae, a government organization, was in collusion with the banks in handing out mortgages to people who could not afford them, even encouraging the practice, then…
  • Those are just two examples. If you think those problems are not endemic to the systems then you are deluding yourself. Just spend a little time on google. The simple fact is, we can only afford so much health care. It has gotten way too expensive. Government seems to be making it more expensive with mandates, regulations,…
  • I have an online friend who lives in Canada. He spent a year in agony, with kidney stones, on the waiting list for surgery. Because it was a "non emergency." A year. When he did get the operation, the surgeon didn't get all the stones, so he got to wait another 6 months for a second operation. Yeah, I'm sure he's very glad…
  • Which one is it? You say he expected sex. But then you said you went knowing you just wanted to be alone. You need to be a lot more clear with him about what you do and don't want. Because what I'm reading is a lot of mixed signals.
  • I'm probably gonna get reamed for this, but here goes. Let me see if I have this straight. You went to a hotel room with him wanting to have sex. He's 21, so we can be pretty sure he wanted to have sex also. You wanted to have sex, you say that. He expected sex, you said that. You told him you did, why would he expect…
  • I use my scale for most meals. I use it instead of measuring cups even. Why should I get a measuring cup or tablespoon out and measure my salad dressing, for example. When I can do it once, weight it and write it on the sticky not on my cupboard. Then I just pour in the proper weight of dressing and don't dirty a spoon or…
  • Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. I haven't talked to or seen her in about 10 years. Make the on and off relationship off. And decide you are 100% sure it is over. They don't change. You will be happier for it and it will stop hurting. It may not seem like it at the moment, but you will.
