It may actually be a really good thing. What you eat is something you will have control over, and if you have control over that one thing, it may help you deal with all the other things. Welcome to MyFP!

Garlic. Lots and lots of garlic (although that's most everything I like to eat. No vampires in this house!). Also green onions if I have them to use up.

48 this year. Been doing MyFP off and on for years, and am here again. My attitude is different this time, so I believe I am going to do better. Before I would do everything oh so perfect for a while (sometimes months) but I'd inevitably mess up, and then I'd give up. I'm changing the way I think about things (it's a work…

From the Mayo Clinic's website: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/apple-cider-vinegar-for-weight-loss/AN01816 and if the link is tl:dr, I'll paste the summary statement: " Although occasional use of apple cider vinegar is safe for most people, it won't likely lead to weight loss — and it may pose problems of its own. For…

This! Actually, I've stopped eating at my desk entirely. Walking away from the desk for food has made me snack less, plus there are no longer crumbs in my keyboard. Win win! And if she pushes back about that then develop a clumsy streak and start knocking them off the bullpen wall. ;)

65 on the weekend and in the evenings when we're at home, 55 at night/when we're at work. I just wear a sweater and smile when I get my utility bill and it's 1/3 of any of our neighbors'. ETA: I do have a little electric space heater to warm up the bathroom for showers, but no need to heat the whole house for that.

I'm cooking. that means that I control what goes into that food. Past few years I've been putting more vegetables on the table and putting less butter in the food from the getgo. Butter is on the table if you want it. I can probably eat two full plates of food and not go over, if I make good choices. I'm therefore going to…

I agree with quite a few of those, but there's one set I haven't seen, so I'll add it. Should of would of could of ARGH, it's should have, would have, could have, which is contracted to should've, could've, and would've.

Well, I am the answer to everything, as I have just recently turned 42. Lord of the Rings fan here, one who eagerly awaits the release of The Hobbit. I am a lifetime member of the MMORPG Lord of the Rings Online, as well. I have been playing MMOs since the early 90's when they were text based. I have played pretty much…

My two, Wembly and Boober. Boober is the smaller black one. She's 11, and I adopted her from Animal Control. Wembly is the larger blue/grey, and he came from a co-worker who rescued a pregnant stray and then found homes for the kittens and kept the mom after he had her fixed <3. Wembly is 10. I've had them both since they…

Even at goal it will be close, as I'm a little taller than he is. As it is now, I outweigh him by about 80lbs. He doesn't have a problem with it, other than wanting me to be healthy so I'll live longer...but I do want to be at a healthy weight, even if it's still more than he weighs.

I get both sides of it. "I'd do you if you lost 20lbs" (or similar comments I've read in this thread) Seriously? WTF? I'd be like "Too bad you'll never get the chance. I don't do dumb@sses" "You'd be pretty if..." means "You are ugly." It isn't a nice thing to say. "You have a pretty face."...well, at least they left the…

I have a recumbent bike at home, and I read while I'm pedaling, although usually just light reading. I find I lose about 50 calories of burn in 30 mins of pedaling if I'm reading something light, more if it is something I have to concentrate on. However, I also find that I tend to lose track of time and keep pedaling for…

I honestly don't think that people know what 40 should look like. I look in the mirror and I think I look 40. (I'm 42) But people tell me they think I'm in my early 30's. (Yes, I know, not a picture of me in my avatar, but the most recent face shot I have of me is 10 years old, so it doesn't mean anything anyway.) I was…

I make lime granitas in mine. My recipe is at home, but it's quite similar to this one: http://dessert.food.com/recipe/lime-granita-28439 You can sub in artificial sweetener of your choice for the sugar. I personally like my lemonade/limeade tart anyway, so I just cut down the sugar to taste. Pour the stuff in and turn the…

5'10", 246 now, looking to get to...well, whatever looks healthy. I've been big my whole life, so I have no clue. Probably around 170 or thereabouts.

It's "Revved up like a deuce", and a deuce is a 2.5 ton military cargo truck.

Been there and done that. My goal is to get back up on the wagon every time I fall off this time, instead of just giving up and dying of dysentery along the way. Or starvation...but that's the least of my worries on this trip. ;) Feel free to add me.

Lying to myself. "Oh come on. You can do 10 minutes! Then you can quit." Once I actually get started I'll go for 30, it's just getting me to start. And I KNOW that. But I still tell myself that lie to get myself off my tail. And hey, it works, so I go with it.

That's how I feel about Whole Foods, so I get where you're coming from. There is some truth to this, but if you make your choices correctly, then it is very affordable. I buy all of my dry pasta there. They are cheaper than the supermarket. They also have fabulous canned pinto beans (I spent a large portion of my childhood…

Yes! Congratulations on getting rid of that Morbid! I hate that word so much. You look great! Keep it up!

Krispy Kreme Donuts. It's like eating straight fat. And on that note, I've always found the fat on meat disgusting. My mom used to make these fatty T-Bone steaks, and I would trim off all the fat on mine and give it to her, and she would happily eat it. But she was thin and I was...not. So go figure. And fast food french…

That's what happens to me, too. I usually just wait and see. Sometimes it goes away. If it doesn't, then I have a piece of fruit or something.

When the university at which I work showed "Ferris Beuller's Day Off" as a classic movie. When I realized that people who were born the year I graduated high school can buy alcohol.

Albacore tuna is great just plain, but if I do want a tuna salad I use fat free sour cream, maybe a little mayo, and some dried dill.

My partner went on sabbatical from work for a few months and lost 35# while he was away. Worked really hard to get in shape...it's actually the reason I'm here now. Anyway, he gets back, one of his co-workers is like: "Wow, you've lost weight, you look really great!" "Yeah, thanks." "Wait, you don't have cancer or…

Death is a long term side effect of *everything*, including being born.

The weather in Vancouver is very similar to the weather in Seattle, where I live. The UK is actually further north than Vancouver, if anything. Winters are grey and misty rain, with some snow. Generally speaking the weather is mild here in the Pacific Northwest, not as hot in the summer, not as cold in the winter. Great…

My own insecurity stands from being laughed at in the past. (Derogatory comments yelled at by an immature jerkwad in a passing truck, actually.) Took me a long time to get over that and figure out that he was indeed a jerkwad and I didn't give a rat's *ss what he thought. I'm about to do the C25K program myself, and I'm…

I forgot my lunch, so went to Subway (only choice here without driving somewhere). Normally if I go to Subway I get a footlong something, but I decided I wanted chips, so I chose a 6" sandwich instead so I could have chips (instead of what I used to do which was get the footlong and the chips, too). Got back to my desk,…
