  • Haha I know when I want to build up muscle/strength in my horses butt, we trot up and down hills :)
  • If the free site deteriorates then I will just take my "business" elsewhere. I used caloriecount in 2012 to lose weight so I'd just switch back over to there. It would be unfortunate though because I've really gotten the hang of everything here. I'd have to build all my recipes again :frowning:
  • But seriously. I eat at least 225g of carbs every day. And I've lost 13lbs.
  • Your body doesn't magically hold onto weight because it's "good for your height" or because you're "eating too little". Those last 5lbs are going to come off excruciatingly slow. Calculate your TDEE, and create a deficit from there (MFP does this for you). If it helps you to know, I have my stuff always set to sedentary,…
  • Yup! I have taken "before" and "during" photos of myself and while my legs and butt don't look very different, my face! Omgosh my face has lost so much especially my jaw bone area right under my ear. I realize that's not something you can measure, but you can definitely see it :)
  • I've logged 116 days and have mine set to .5lb a week. I've lost an average of .7lbs a week and that's with a few breaks due to my birthday, spring break, Easter, etc.
  • I found that I wasn't losing weight when I was working out and eating back my "earned" calories. I use a HRM too. I stopped working out for the most part and thus stopped eating back those calories and I'm losing again. Not that you should stop working out, but I walk a ton most days during the week, so working out isn't…
  • I didn't read all the responses, but I figured I'd chime in. I did the whole "hclf, rawtill4" 80/10/10 thing to a T for a little over a month. Even read the 80/10/10 book by Dr. Graham. It sounded great to me because all the followers tout being able to eat as much as you want and still lose weight. I was naive. I lost…
  • I have a digital Taylor glass scale and I calibrate it by stepping on it, letting it go to zero, and waiting till it turns off. I've had it for like a year now and haven't had any issues. (And I'd like it to stay that way!) But it sounds like you might need some new batteries. P.S. I'm confused at the type of scale you…
  • This one was just today's revelation.... I made personal pepperoni pizzas last night from scratch @ 349cals each and my normal bagel with cream cheese is 380cal.... Time to make more things from scratch!
  • My current fav is baby carrots with roasted red pepper hummus. It's really filling! I also dip flaxseed wholegrain pita bread in the hummus too :) Each slice is 60 cals.
  • 5'4" and 130 is my goal, but tbh I will probably shoot for 120 if I find 130 maintainable. I don't have a lot to lose, but I've never known myself under 135 at this height
  • I don't have insomnia, but I have taken melatonin when I needed to get my sleep schedule back on track. I feel like it helped me fall asleep faster than normal :) I wouldn't say it made me sleepy though..so it very well could have had a placebo effect. Maybe something like Zzzquil would help you?
  • Ugh...a girl I'm friends with on fb recently shared this to her timeline and I just -.- I read the entire article and I think I'm dumber for it. Just weigh your food with a food scale, and eat at a deficit. You will lose weight.
  • Yup, just like @macgurlnet said. Weigh it dry, know how many servings you have, then weigh it cooked and divide by that many servings to get the "wet serving weight". I do this when I make a big batch of spaghetti for meal preps :)
  • You contradicted yourself here. Yes, water retention is definitely a factor and is going to vary in severity from person to person, but as far as CICO goes, it still applies. If you are more hungry due to the hormones, you are likely to eat more = more calories in. When I was on depo and trying to lose weight, I was always…
  • Mirena is an intrauterine device that releases tiny amounts of progesterone into your uterus all the time. IUD's are becoming a lot more popular. I don't have a period with Mirena :) Paraguard is a non-hormonal copper IUD, but often increases bleeding/cramping. These may be called something else in the UK (just different…
  • What kind of goat cheese is that? I'm really only familiar with feta, and that is obviously not feta(?) I'm planning on making my own pizza for the first time this week :)
  • I was on depo for 5 years. I was able to gain weight, lose it, gain it again, lose it again, and finally gain. I switched to Mirena because depo isn't recommended for more than 2 years use (due to bone density loss). I'm able to lose on Mirena as well. Depo is a huge surge of hormones so it can increase your appetite, thus…
  • I also have Mirena! I've been able to lose on it as well :)
  • If you are weighing your food and logging accurately, you shouldn't worry about gaining weight on BC. If you are engaging in potentially pregnancy causing acts and you would like to avoid pregnancy, then yes I think you should go back on birth control :) But that's just my 2 cents.
  • I have mfp set to lose .5 lb a week. I've been losing about .8 lbs a week though. Sometimes more sometimes less. I only have 13lbs until my goal and these are all vanity pounds. I'm at a healthy weight for my height.
  • Fat loss :) and being tan helps hide the appearance some.
  • Nope :) any time is a good time. (except maybe right after you eat so you don't wind up with an upset stomach)
  • Unfortunately you can't make people listen to you. I once had a dorm-mate that was also obese, ask me to help her come up with a plan to start losing weight. I told her that to start it would help to cut out sugary drinks and to drink water instead, that it would help her to start cutting back on calories. She then…
  • Erry day :) I don't log every day, usually just when I hit a new low weight because I hate that MFP posts every "loss" even if it's just a loss from the previous day, that doesn't mean it's actually an overall loss. I also tend to weigh myself before bed because I've learned that I almost always fluctuate 2lbs overnight so…
  • So far I've pretty much kept my boobs....but I do not have a lot of weight to lose. They obvs got bigger when I was at my highest weight, but have stayed the same so far.....:x

  • Sugar isn't an issue unless you have a medical reason for needing to avoid it. Calories are what matters most :)

  • LOVE my Mirena! I was on Depo before and switched because you are only supposed to use Depo for 2 years and I had been on it for 5...I've lost significant weight with both though. Just gained weight because I ate too much!
  • Good to know! I use the phone app to do all of my logging, so as far as I know it doesn't show up any special way. I just type in usda after the name when I search.
