I have a Mirena now (LOVE IT!!) and it has not affected my ability to gain or lose weight. Also been on Depo (also liked it, just wanted something more permanent) and had a similar experience.

I just eat a probiotic yogurt every day and it really helps my digestive system. Keeps me regular ;) and cheaper than pills, I'd imagine.

Good luck! I was 80/10/10 vegan for around a month. I enjoyed it, but I became intolerant to bananas (they give me horrendous stomach cramps now!) and it was very time consuming :(. Read 80/10/10 by Douglas Graham. I found it to be an excellent tool.

Recently I've been doing a probiotic vanilla yogurt cup (110cals), an apple (weigh for cal), and a sweet and salty peanut granola bar. Check some cereal boxes for iron content, I have found that some have a surprisingly high amount in them. Drink a glass of OJ with your cereal at breakfast and that would be an awesome start! Others have also mentioned great ideas, I find cereal to be the easiest personally.

To be honest, I would find a new doctor if that is a route you are serious about perusing. I had to go through three doctors until I found one that would let me get the Mirena. Get a food scale and start weighing everything and logging accordingly. I'm no doctor, but you obviously have your baby's health in mind. Please, please, PLEASE, don't be doing any "diets" while you are breastfeeding. Eat a balanced diet with a small deficit and you will lose weight.
