SO MAD RIGHT NOW

I live in an apartment complex that allows dogs and I just took my guy out to pee and someone let their freaking little man syndrome dog out without a leash and it ran straight at my dog and started attacking him! My dog is so sweet and loves other dogs and was just growling, but I had him up halfway in the air by his collar (he is 75lbs) to get away from the psycho one and so I started kicking at it (I was wearing slippers btw) and the owner had the NERVE to tell me to stop kicking her dog!!!! ARE YOU *kitten* KIDDING ME?? I'm not one to kick or hurt animals, for God's sake mine are my babies, but it would not stop! What was I supposed to do?? Put my hand in between them because they sure as hell weren't going to! They finally grabbed it and ***I*** yelled I was sorry and that my dog couldn't get away because of his leash EVEN THOUGH THEIR *kitten* DOG ATTACKED MINE as they ran back into their apartment saying NOTHING.
Ugh sorry, I'm just so livid right now. To top it all off, it's my poor doggos 2nd birthday. No blood was drawn thank goodness. I almost wish I had let their dog bite me so I could press charges. The nerve of some people.

Dog off leash is ALWAYS at fault in an attack. So they are going to be sorry if they don't learn thier lesson in time1 -

sorry op. i would of done the same with a few more curse words. but think if you would of gotten bitten you could of sued them for dog bite and had there dog taken away. my little old guys only go outside on a leash until we build a fence next spring. oh yeah you could of gotten a couple thousand for your trouble0

I'm glad your dog is okay.
..... and don't feel bad about kicking the neighbors dog. you did what you needed to do to protect your own; no worries there.
maybe next time just kick the neighbor ?2 -
Steel toe boots?0

dogs fight, not that strange.
But sounds like you didn't do anything wrong. dogs should be on a lease, especially around other dogs or people.
I would have booted the other dog or if possible stand on its neck so it cant move.
And if the owner of the other dog gets involved, doing anything other than restraining their own dog, i would boot them and stand on their neck too.1 -
Look up leash laws for your city.
Talk to the apartment management about dogs being off leash on their property.
Call animal control.
Be angry at the owners not the dog. The dog was being a dog. The owners did not put it on a leash or keep it away from other dogs or apologize.0 -
I'm glad you and your dog are OK. Unfortunately, unless you have a witness, if you report the incident, this bunt could turn around and say your dog attacked hers. I'd think about having my phone handy for taking videos while walking your dog for the near future.
PS-And yeah, don't feel bad about defending your dog. By any means necessary.1
