I'll tell you now to save you the "WHY DID I NOT DO THIS SOONER" moment. Buy a food scale and use it!!!! It is so helpful to know EXACTLY how much you are eating!
-
Why are you avoiding fruit? I highly doubt you are eating as little as you think you are. You just might not be eating as often. Also starvation mode is not a thing even if you are indeed eating under 1200 calories a day. If you don't have a food scale akready, I would highly suggest you buy one. It was a huge eye opener…

I live by myself, but my boyfriend has visited and even before that I told him about it and he didn't make a big deal out of it. I did have a fellow classmate ask me if I was a drug dealer :D

If you have an Aldi grocery store nearby, start shopping there! Ours is awesome and I'm in a college town.
-
Save some salt for your margarita, sheesh...
-
Love me some Aldi!! Around $20-$30 if I don't buy meat or a lot of animal products. More if I do. (also a student here)

Nothing wrong with cardio :) you can certainly get a good calorie burn that way. I'm not bashing lifting at all though. I just don't currently have a facility to do it in. When I move in August, I plan to start some :)

I have the Polar FT4. I think it was around $70 on amazon last year when I bought it. It's not super fancy in that it can't connect to an app on your phone or computer, but you can personalize the settings quite a lot so that it's more accurate. It also automatically connects to most workout equipment that have a HR…

This is why I never bothered with those fancy fitness trackers. I love my polar FT4 and only wear it working out. Though I did wear it during a nap once out of curiosity.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. If I'm hungry afterwards I eat. I usually workout in the evening before dinner and I use a heart rate monitor to more accurately measure my calorie burn. Not that it's fool proof, but it's as accurate as I can get.
-
I think you're on to something here. What about people with social anxiety? I know that I'm prone to it and if I have a presentation to give, that's all I can think about up to two days before. I guarantee my heart rate is elevated for extended periods over that time.
-
That's an insane amount of protein. Are you body building?
-
Don't bother with it.
-
Thanks for all the replies. I don't feel that it's useless, I just hear people bashing them all the time. I guess the elliptical gets a bad rap because often times there are people just cruising on them while reading magazines so they're probably not getting a good workout in. One article also bad mouthed spin classes and…

I think that I feel this way because of an article I read that said "just moving can make your heart rate increase, but that doesn't necessarily = calories burned" which sounds like a load of bs...because is that not exactly what cardio is?
-
Actually did that after my workout today!

I love my Mirena. Practically painless to put in (with cytotek and a paracervical block) - my doc is nice to women that haven't had kids. I was on depo 5 years prior and tried to blame it on my weight gain. Turns out I just wasn't weighing my food with a food scale and was grossly overeating.
-
You may be eating clean, but are you weighing your foods and logging accurately? You could still be eating too many calories.
-
My 21st birthday is on Easter Sunday...so needless to say I probably won't log that weekend. (More so bc I'll be distracted, not because I'd be ashamed)
-
I had this revelation too when I bought my food scale :)
-
Exercising and counting your calories is sufficient if you are weighing your food and logging accurately.
-
Haha this should be fun
-
I also log every day and weigh multiple times a day. Mostly because I like to see how my body reacts to different foods. What matters though is an overall weight loss. I tend to fluctuate 2lbs+/- and it doesn't worry me too badly unless I've been weighing 2lbs more for a week or more.
-
I looooooove banana nut crunch granola and vanilla unsweetened almond milk. That being said...I don't use regular milk for anything. Soy or almond if I have control over it. I feel like almond milk pairs well with most sweet tasting cereals. Otherwise it probably has a pretty nutty flavor that might put you off.

Unless you are a growing child, or are body building you do not need to eat an excess of protein. I repeat, YOU DO NOT NEED TO EAT AN EXCESS OF PROTEIN. Having said that, if protein helps keep you full longer, by all means eat it. I eat very little protein (averaging 9-15% of my daily calories, usually 30-50g) and have…

I wouldn't recommend a carb free/low carb diet. Ultimately it's up to you, but unless that's something you're going to want to do for the rest of your life, it's not a great idea. I eat loads of carbs and I'm losing. I started at 155 and I've lost 10lbs over the last 2 months eating 1,500cals a day. Have you been weighing…

Here's a really good website for logging just about anything accurately: http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods
-
Weigh every ingredient and use this website to find accurate calorie content: http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods A lot of this stuff is in MFP already, but you have to weed through items that are inaccurately filled out. I like to put "usda" after my search items. Like "apple usda grams".
-
I haven't tried recently, but I have a polar ft4 and when I tried to link it up to MFP, polar wasn't supported

Yea it's called your GI tract. Eat some fiber. It'll do you good.
