Yup, I'm in your camp. ;D

Yes. So the slogan should more correctly be "Exercise more to weigh less." That's really what this site is all about (and correctly so; healthy weight happens with healthy moving bodies). Of course, saying 'eat more to weigh less' has a bit more draw power... ;)

Yes, the FT7 has a battery compartment on both parts that you can open with a twist of a penny or screwdriver for battery replacement.

Some swimmers say it stops working in the pool, too--but they got it to work by tightening the strap. Just a thought...

You're welcome! Check the Amazon ratings; I think that's where I read about the accuracy comparison.

I just purchased the FT7 this week after comparing reviews with the FT4. I mainly chose it because it seemed a lot of people thought the FT7 had a better track record for accuracy than the FT4--and I was buying a HRM in the first place b/c I don't feel the calorie burn counts on here are that accurate. I was interested in…

Thanks! My chest strap has a snap-on unit; hopefully it won't rust...

Never knew you could swim with a watch that was only 'water-resistant' (as opposed to water-proof). Just bought my Polar ft7 this week and am searching the forums here for info about it. Guess I'll go back and check the manual again about the swimming thing...

Need this recipe, please! :)

Skim milk, Splenda, cinnamon, and raisins or apple bits softened in the microwave in a bit of water for 20 seconds. :)

My first mini-goal was not a number, really. It was simply to be able to wear some of my cute clothes again, which I 'outgrew' so quickly while my thyroid disease went undiagnosed. Thirty pounds in three years was mind-boggling to someone who wore her wedding dress on her 25th anniversary. To make matters worse, I'm…

From Merriam-Webster: trolling - present participle of troll (Verb) Verb: 1) Fish by trailing a baited line along behind a boat: "we trolled for mackerel". 2) Search for something. And we all know the internet definition. I'd say you fall somewhere between #2 of Merriam-Webster and that. You are (IF not a bonafide internet…

I agree that was rude, but your response to that rudeness put you right in the same bracket.

Trolling again? (Her thread "Am I Skinny?" got locked and quickly deleted a couple days ago after she started calling people on here Fat Cows...people who were trying to HELP her. So please, nice folks, be warned.)

Okay, I just got back from my thyroid doc appt., and will have to amend what I just posted above. ;) I've lost 15 pounds in the 2 months since my last appt., and apparently, my thyroid levels are now too high. So...if you are hypo, and in a weight loss program, it may affect your dosage levels even if you have…

I've been 'low and slow' most of my life (low BP and slow, in the 50s heart rate). I chalk it up to a lifetime of loving skating. A few years ago I had my first trip to a cardiologist (age 54) due to 'heart symptoms' (a squeezing sensation in the chest that came with bike riding and lasted for three days). I was given the…

I had noticeable, painful fluid retention in my legs, esp. ankles--felt like my skin was going to split (and somewhat in my belly) for at least two weeks with refeeding. Also incredibly intense stomach pain one night as I recall after eating a normal-sized meal. I remember wondering if I should go to the hospital, but…

Nothing. Grab a good book and call it a night, knowing the extra cushion will speed up my weight loss. I've found eating late at night slows down the progress, personally.

No, you don't have to and probably shouldn't add back all the calories MFP says you've burned. (It's inaccurate.)

With Hashimotos thyroiditis, your levels of meds will need to continually increase, as the nature of the disease is gradual destruction of the thyroid. (Mine are increased at practically every 6 month appt.) With simple hypothryoidism, it may be more murky and unstable. My doc say the generic form of Synthroid doesn't work…

Congrats on the dedication and hard work. A big achievement, and if you feel as great as you look, you must feel wonderful. I just have to say...I think your face looks like a model's--great bone structure!

More a sluggish day for me today (forgot to take a key thyroid med this AM). Also didn’t get around to doing an official workout. Congrats on all you who’ve been more faithful with that today! @ginib – thanks for the FitBit explanation. Have to look into that (maybe for the Christmas wishlist??) @mommie55 – your cycling is…

I skated. Yes I did. :)

Hi all, today WAS a better day. Made it to the rink for a half hour session, and also (for some odd reason) have not been very hungry. Squeezed food in here and there (busy day) and I’m probably under as of tonight. Hopefully that’ll translate to another pound lost when I venture onto the scale on Sunday. We’ll see. In any…

Exactly. I've been in a competitive sport for over 35 years, where failing to reach a goal has nothing to do with one's standard of excellence. In fact, only serious athletes tend to strive for reaching an ultimately high standard--but if they equated anything less than a gold medal (the obvious goal) with complete failure…

Sounds like you're well on your way, gal. Keep up with the logical and true self-talk, and firmly resist the internalizing like you resist the foods that would sabotage your diet goals. It'll save you thousands in therapy bills. (Take it from one who battled and beat a serious depression 12 years ago.)

No need to drop her friend or get another to replace him. (He was only expressing that they failed to meet their goal.) She needs to instead get another attitude--because one that transforms 'I failed to meet the goal' into "I AM A FAILURE" is bogus.
-
If I'm reading this right, your friend said you (plural) failed to reach your goal. YOU are the one calling yourself "a failure" (or questioning if you are one). I'd say your friend is correct, technically--you failed to reach the original goal. But you are incorrect--because you're personalizing the fact in a negative…

What I planned: 45 minutes at the skate rink (figure skating). What I did: 45 minutes of Painstakingly Slow Shopping at Michael's craft store. (Couldn't find the cardiovascular entry for that...) *sigh* Back to the rink tomorrow...
