Blegh. I hate diets like this!!

Here's an answer nobody has given yet..... Because it has been tried... and tried... and tried again.... and every single time it did not work in the long-term. That's why.

Bump for later!

I agree though that sometimes it can mean your body needs a specific macro or micro nutrient. I think if it's "salty" that you're craving and not "that humongo brownie over there for no reason", it might be that you need something. You just have to dig down deep and evaluate what is going on at the time—keep a food journal!

I calculated my TDEE, and I'm eating just 15% or so below that—which is more than my BMR (you should use your BMR to calculate your TDEE and then eat 15-20% below that to lose weight). I'm eating 1800 calories a day, and it really is not that hard once you evaluate WHAT you are eating. If you want some ideas, take a look…

Worst idea ever....... don't do this. Carbs are just one source of energy. If you go super low-carb, your body could start burning lean muscle instead of fat. Just eat a good balance of carbs, protein, lower fat, with a small deficit in overall calories, and exercise. You will lose at a steady, healthy rate.

Can you let them go with some neighbors so you can still go to Zumba? And I love the idea of donating the rest of the candy. Also, why not make yourself a healthy treat to enjoy? I LOVE this recipe: http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2012/07/26/reeses-peanut-butter-cup-baked-oatmeal/ 280 calories, a lot of protein, and…

^ This!!

I've tried it three times... always gained the weight back because I wasn't able to make it a lifestyle.

Oh, I do eat eggs, actually, and lots of dairy. :) And I do eat fish a few times a month. As far as my reasoning goes, I actually felt MUCH better after my meals when I cut out meat, especially red meat and chicken. Not sure why, but I felt like I had much more energy and was able to digest better.

Hey, thanks! I was trying to do 30% Protein, 30% Fat and 40% carbs, but I was having a REALLY hard time getting that much protein eating vegetarian... and I was feeling kind of nauseous? So I took protein down to 25%, but trying to pay more attention and find some good solutions so I can bring it up. *Edit* Okay, playing…

Amazing!!! I love your smile at the end! :)

That is so awesome. Like I said, she was clearly very athletic, so I hope that she has proper support in her life---if not from friends and family, at least from the gym staff, who I know are really great!

Kids are so bombarded with false expectations of weight and body size.... it made me sad too. I kind of wish I'd pulled her aside and told her that she was awesome and not to listen to them!

I don't really talk to people other than my husband or my mom if I've lost weight. I've found that even talking to some people about my physical goals like exercise or whatever elicits weird or non-supportive responses.... I think even if someone is thin already or whatever, not everyone is happy with their bodies or their…

Thanks for this! That's super helpful!

You guys are GREAT. That's why I love MFP—helpful, honest! Thank you. If anyone would like to take a look at my food diary and give some suggestions there, it is open and I would welcome that. Since I am hearing that it really does have to do more with what you eat and being able to lower your BF%—I really have changed my…

Well, that's what I am hearing/reading. So, just gotta keep plugging away—thanks!

Good info, thanks! I am trying to lower my BF% and eat way more protein than I had been, as well as lift much heavier than I previously thought I was capable of. How long until you started seeing some results? I'm sure I just need to give it time as well—I haven't been doing this for long!!
-
Nice, I'll check it out. Thanks!! Thanks everyone for the input, I really appreciate—trying to learn all I can!

Working on it!
-
I completely agree—I've really hammered out my diet the last 3-4 weeks, and have already noticed a difference. My mid-section is much flatter than before, even though I was doing crunches like crazy. Just hoping to capitalize on it with doing something a little more effective than just crunches! Those are great—I didn't…
-
Yes, working on lowering my BF% and focusing on nutrition! But I was also curious what types of routines I could be doing as well. Thanks!!
-
Hahahaha!!! This is amazing. But seriously. Just like not too long ago they were freaking out about eggs being worse for you than cigarettes. Ha! Right.
-
^ This. Also, eat. Have a day where you eat what you want. Give yourself a rest day if you're tired. Work WITH your body, not against it. Make friends with food, with your body—don't punish your body for an off week. It's a team effort... work with the grain and not against it. .

If you don't count the fruit and veggie calories, you could be filling up on empty calories with other things. No good! It's also good to know that fruits and veggies have way less calories for way more volume of food—that knowledge alone from tracking them can give you a better mindset about filling your diet with them!

I don't like to have the same breakfast every day, but it usually consists of eggs, english muffins, cottage cheese and fruit, greek yogurt and granola, oatmeal, or some variation of that. I try to get a little protein in every breakfast!
-
1. Almond Milk 2. Eggs 3. Lettuce 4. Tomato 5. Avocado 6. Greek Yogurt 7. Strawberries 8. Brown Rice 9. Tofu 10. Stir-fry veggies

I would say eat more veggies—try centering your meals around vegetables, or checking out vegetarian recipes (you don't have to be a vegetarian!) a couple nights a week. It will help you see vegetables in a different way, not just as side dishes to add to the main course. I really didn't see a whole lot of fruits and…

My parents said that I looked like ET pretty much from when I was born till I was in grade school. But they said that even though I looked like I weighed less than the other kids, people would pick me up expecting a little cloud-like bundle of joy like other babies and be quite surprised. But when I hit middle…
