Thank You
I just wanted to say thank you to those MFP members who have and continue to post helpful information about proper nutrition and training. I know sometimes there is a lot of arguing over what is "correct" and it can get discouraging when so many people bash your good advice, but for me, even seeing someone post something…

Berry Orange Nut Protein Bran Muffins
I borrowed a recipe from online for basic bran muffins and added protein and dried fruit/nuts to make them hearty and yummy! Here's the recipe and nutrition info, makes 6 muffins. (I ate two for breakfast this morning, that's why there are only 4 pictured) - 3 large egg whites - 1/4 cup nonfat greek yogurt,…

OHP
I think I saw some links around here somewhere with tips for OHP, but can't seem to find them now (should have bookmarked). Anyway, I'm having trouble with mine—I'm blowing through my sets at 40lb, but I struggle with the "clean" (is that correct terminology?). I've been using pre-loaded, smaller bars for OHP, and not sure…

DOMS?
I started following SL5x5 about 2.5 weeks ago. I'd been doing a little lifting before that, mostly isolation moves and also some machine work, so SL actually felt like a good challenge for me when I began. The first time I did a squat with only the bar (45lb), I couldn't walk for at least two days, haha! When I began, I…

Friends?
I've been doing EM2WL for a couple of months now, and just getting into living heavy the past couple of weeks. I would love to make some EM2WL friends on here! :)

2 Months of EM2WL
In October, after dieting for 9 months and being stuck in a plateau + always hungry and binging on weekends, I found the Eat More 2 Weigh Less group and some other other helpful info on the boards about TDEE, BMR, strength training, etc. I immediately ditched the 1200 calorie diet, quit doing my exercise plan of 30DS +…

Pumpkin Bread
Made my family's favorite pumpkin bread tonight: Recipe here: http://www.sarahmakesstuffblog.com/2012/11/chocolate-chip-pumpkin-bread.html Yum! Kind of high-cal with the eggs, chocolate chips, walnuts, and sugar—but you can make substitutions and this recipe still always turns out really well. Let me know if you try it!

THE PRINTER IS THE WORST INVENTION EVER.
Seriously. I hate it.

Buffalo Cauliflower "Wings"
I made this recipe tonight: http://www.thecurvycarrot.com/2012/08/18/buffalo-chicken-vegetarian-style/ Turned out well! I also made it with chicken for my husband. I used Sweet Baby Ray's buffalo sauce and almond milk instead of buttermilk. Here's what MFP says for the nutrition facts, for 1/4 of the recipe with…

Ideas for Holiday Travel?
I have a pretty routine method for planning my days in terms of food—making sure I eat at the times I am typically hungry, planning around my schedule and activities, making sure I get my macros down. I plan every night for the next day and pack my lunches/snacks... but all of this is pretty dependent on me being at home,…

Good protein bars?
I love my Larabars for pre-workout snacks... but as a mostly-vegetarian, it's really hard to get as much protein as I want each day. So, I'm considering switching to a bar with higher protein content. Larabars have 220-240 calories, and have lots of nuts and dried fruit. But they only really have 4-6g of protein per bar.…

I did it. NSV
When I was in middle school and high school, I would get Fs in phys ed because I couldn't run a mile. They had this ridiculous grading system for our "mile tests" that went like this: 6 min = A 8 min = B 10 min = C 12 min = D 13+ = F I was never taught that if you practice running you'll get better. That it's OK to start…

Such a n00b...
I just feel like such a n00b always posting these dumb (and probably obvious questions), so thanks for bearing with me... I have started to get into weight lifting the last two weeks. I'm starting with machines (yeah, I know, not as effective as free weights, but truly... I'm a complete newbie at this) doing a 3-day split…

Abs?
I'm really interested in building my ab muscles, but I'm having a hard time finding info about what I can be doing for that. I get the point in my other strength training about progressive weight lifting and not using the "barbie" weights, but is the same true about a million crunches? I've always been able to do a lot of…

Girls at the Gym
I was at the gym after work yesterday, and overheard a few girls (probably 8-12 years old?) coming in from swimming practice and taking turns weighing themselves. One of the girls was a few years older, and a little taller than the other two, but you could tell she was very athletic. The two younger girls were laughing and…

FINALLY.
Last February, my computer hard drive pretty much went haywire. I had to get a new one. I haven't taken the time yet to pull Creative Suite out of my piles of storage and call Adobe and get it installed on the new computer (one-computer license).... Until today. Ahhhhhhhh it feels SO good! I'm super excited to be able to…

8 Glasses of Water
Okay. So, if I drink 8 glasses of water a day, I'm literally going to the bathroom every 30 minutes. Anybody else, or am I just crazy?

Happy and Healthy
I'm not to my goal weight yet, but tonight I was just reflecting on how far I've come since last November. Last year I was not working out on a regular basis, binging and eating through emotions, processed foods and meat made up my meals, eating out a lot, then feeling guilty and dieting like crazy, taking diet pills, not…

Evening Snacks?
I have a terrible sweet tooth, and often feel like the day is not 'done' until I've had something sweet after dinner. I'm trying to eat all of my exercise calories back in order to net 1200 at the end of the day, and I've found that I usually have 100-150 calories left over after I plan all of my meals, snacks,…

Pre and Post Workout Snacks
I've been following this for my pre- and post- workout snacks for awhile now: Pre: Larabar Workout 1 (30DS on M-W, 30min jog, bike, whatever on other days) Post: Shake with almond milk, whey protein, sometimes a banana Workout 2 (55 min Zumba on M-W, 30DS on other days) Dinner I've been reading a bit about replenishing…

Letting myself take a break!
I worked out hard and ate really well the last 7 days, and today I was VERY tired and feeling worn out or burned out. I started feeling bad about that, and feeling fat, but I realized that I really did need to let myself have a break tonight and rest—both physically and mentally. I was SO HUNGRY and craving comfort food,…

Visualizing Success
I got these two great articles in my inbox this morning about the negative effects of visualizing success without visualizing the obstacles. Thought it was completely relevant to what we're all trying to do, and might help? Here you go: http://99u.com/articles/7232/The-Power-of-Negative-Thinking…

SO HUNGRY!
Trying to eat all my exercise calories, but I'm SO HUNGRY all day! I was never this hungry when I was trying to eat only 1200 cal even after exercising. Having some chocolate chai tea now to help curb it. Sheesh!! Anybody else having this problem? What do you do to help?

Love MFP!
I've been using this site for a few months, since cancelling my WW membership. I was looking for something inexpensive and that was more focused on the bigger picture—not just a points number! I've been learning about eating clean and getting all the nutrients and energy I need to be successful. MFP helps so much since I…
