Thanks everyone! I think I'll be okay, but there's so much to do between now and the first surgery (7/22) that I don't want to forget my eating plan and leave it till the last minute. Won't be walking much at first - arthroscopic on my knee. And when I AM back on my feet, I'll be back to work which keeps me out of the…

My first bit of advise is - follow thru - do it NOW. You can do this!! The older you get, the harder it is (trust me, I've been saying the same things since *I* was 18 - 40 years ago!!) Second - move - walk, run, go to a gym, or do videos on the tv. Moving will make it come off even quicker, and help keep your skin in…

btw can I just say - I love MFP and that we have friends from around the world. I just LOVE the word Brekkie. Always makes me smile. lol

Always use the same scale - and make that the one that counts. So many things can make a difference (is the scale level? are you wearing clothes/different clothes/shoes/no shoes etc) I have had weight difference of up to 8 lbs between my scale home (no clothes) and Dr's scale (clothes, shoes etc).

You think you can't live without bread or pasta, but once you break the "addiction" it's really not hard at all. I don't even think about bread or pasta. I tried a bread alternative over the weekend (just out of curiosity) which wasn't bad but I didn't CRAVE it. It's really better to get off them completely if you can.

Everyone - please add me too! I'm doing Atkins/low carb. Need support, meal suggestions and recipes!

Another member of the 100+ lbs to be lost club! Looking for friends as well, feel free to add me! What we all have to remember is this is not a diet - it's a lifestyle change. You don't lose the weight and then go back to the old ways.......you change for life! This is the thing that it took 40 years for me to finally…

I've always believe in "starvation mode" because many times when I UPPED my calorie intake, I lost better. But your comment about proof made me look up the topic, and I found this article that I thought was very interesting: http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/weight-loss/truth-starvation-mode

Haven't read all the posts, so this may have been mentioned already, but see a doctor and get a health checkup. Doctor might be able to help you gain weight. At the very least, if doctor finds you healthy - he/she may give you a note clearing you to be healthy to work out in a gym, which might be sufficient for the gym…

If you have the space, make a shelf in the pantry or cabinet with healthy snacks. Give her a list of healthy food choices. Make a couple "sample meal plans" (I know that when I was her age, I needed ideas of what was good and what was not good). If she's never had any experience in this area, she truly might not know that…

Today I stirred some pumpkin into my oatmeal, along with some cinnamon, splenda and pumpkin pie spice. YUMMY!! Also, have added it to plain non-fat greek yogurt, with the same spices - also very good!

Sitting here eating my pumpkin oatmeal and just about in heaven it's so good! Made the oatmeal with water, and added 1/2 cup canned pumpkin, a splenda, some cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice. SOOOO GOOD! Another thing to know - the oats won't go bad. I always have them in the house - but then, I eat them regularly (go thru…

Count me in too! I've got a lot more than 30 to lose - but it's a good target for me, and will be my first goal. Friend me - add me to the group - whatever it takes, I'm in!

That's a huge NSV! It took me forever to get to that point. Now, I try and ask for a "to go" container as my meal is brought to the table, and put half away for another time. I have never felt like I didn't eat enough when I only eat a half portion. WTG to you!

I think you know (as SO many other posters have pointed out) that 50 lbs. in 2 months is probably an unrealistic, and UNHEALTHY goal. However, I certainly can understand your wish to achieve it. Have you considered talking to your doctor and going on a medically supervised liquid diet? important words: MEDICALLY…
