These are all general numbers...not everyone is the same, so take this all with a grain of salt: Take your weight, multiply by 10...that is your RMR (resting metabolic rate...also referred to as BMR). Then determine activity level...for sedentary, multiply your RMR X 10. Then, for weight loss, reduce by 500 calories/day…

FYI...the Bodybugg does NOT calculate heart rate, so would not be beneficial if you are wanting to use it to stay within a specific 'zone' during your workout. I wear one, and have worn both the HRM and BB during workouts and find that the calories burned during workouts to be very close. That said, the Bodybugg was really…

mostein and aproc...I sent you a message about the program. Check your inbox.

I'll give PB2 another thumbs up. I can't have PB in my house. Seriously...just can't control myself around it. Four servings, and 800 calories later, I want to beat my head on the wall. PB2 allows me to have my PB, but without the guilt. It does contain a small amount of sugar...my one trade-off. It's yummy on apples,…

I have pretty stout triceps, but they're still covered up by a layer of body fat. You can do some exercises to target the triceps (such as those given above), but to be totally honest, to get rid of that underarm 'flab,' it's going to take an overall drop in body fat.

I love me some breakfast!!!! I'm a bit of a 'repetitive' breakfast eater, though...standard fare for me is: 2 packets of plain organic steel cut, then rolled oats (made with water) 1 T cinnamon 1 Scoop vanilla whey protein 1T ground flax seed 1T chia seed 2 cups of coffee All in all, right around 400 calories. Sometimes I…

Listen to your body...it's telling your something. If you don't listen, you may run the risk of overtraining and then facing injury. Take the day off, pick up your strength workout tomorrow and move on. Your body does need true rest.

I've never had children, but I have stretch marks because I was about 60 lbs. heavier 12 years ago than I am currently. Have them on the upper thighs, lower abdomen, and chest. Sucks, but I'd rather have the stretch marks than the weight back.

My body would seriously shut down on 1000 calories. I'm 5'9", 20% body fat, and workout for 45-60 minutes/day and walk my dogs. I'm also an 8th grade teacher, so literally am on my feet moving around the classroom most of the day. On average, I burn 2700 calories/day...sometimes closer to 3000. I maintain a 500-750 calorie…

Somebody already said...you have to squeeze those butt muscles for all you're worth. To feel it, go to the bottom of your squat, making sure that your knees are NOT over your toes and your butt is pushed backwards. Once you get to the bottom of the squat...stay there...squeeze the butt muscles. Do you feel them? Do a…

Don't discount that 45 minute walk!! I burn, on average, a good 100+ calories for every 15 minutes that I walk my dogs. Make sure you're pushing yourself to walk at truly a brisk pace and if you've got any hills en route, add those in. They're great but busters! On weekends, if you have time (and a stroller), take the kids…

Why not make your own? I have a recipe (I posted it on the recipe section under "Clean Eating Protein Bars" or something like that) that if you don't add 'extras' (i.e. nut butters, sunflower seeds, dark chocolate), you can get the calories under 180 and you know EXACTLY what's in it (i.e. no preservatives). If you want to…

Thank goodness I'm not alone! I look at everyone's food diaries, and they're always set for 1200 calories. I'd seriously starve at that calorie intake. I've been seriously working on my fitness for the past 18 months. I'm quite close to my goal weight, but have slowly come to the realization that it's no longer about the…

Shaun T looks mighty fine in it as well!! Angbamm...message me if you'd like to see a short preview clip of what the workout looks like.

I love it, even though I'm not a 'choreography person.' Even so, I picked it up rather quickly. I've done Insanity in the past, and while I think Insanity is much more difficult, I find I burn more calories overall with the Turbo Fire workouts. Hmmmmm.... I blogged about it about 10 days ago and included a video clip of…

ChaLean Extreme. It works if you push play 5 days/week and work on the nutrition. You will need either resistance bands or a decent set of dumbbells. The things I love about it: 1. Time--the daily workouts are 35-45 minutes, 5 days/week 2. Variety--You do 6 different workouts each week (on one of the rest days you do a…

Oh...and if you're not a very good jump roper (like me--I always get the blasted thing tangled in my feet), you can get a 'ropeless' jump rope (seriously...it even has weighted handles for a better upper body burn) called a Jump Snap. It even makes a 'woosh' sound when you spin it. LOL

Funny thing you should post this today because for whatever odd reason, I felt like skipping rope. Did 17 minutes (3 minute skips with 2 minute kickboxing intervals and a final 2 minute skip). I like to change up my skipping patterns, too, doing lower body twists, skier legs, front/back jumps, jumping jack legs, and then…

I've learned that I really need my one rest day each week. That said, I also have 3 dogs who need walked, so even though I'm not doing a 'true' workout, I'm still getting 45-60 minutes of dog walking in. Also, today is my rest day and the lawn needs mowed...pushing the non-self propelled mower up and down hills will burn…

You really need a Heart Rate Monitor to determine your calorie burn...everyone is different. I found that the 600 calories/exercise that was written in the P90X book to be exaggerated for most 'average' people (Mark Briggs is an exception to that rule--he burns a gazaillion calories no matter what workout he does). Anyhow,…

Hmmm...according to my Bodybugg, the dog walk this morning got me 450, I got 50 during my ab workout, and another 100 during my stretch this afternoon...I'm thinking 30 minutes of Turbo Fire may get me to 1000 today.

Check the label, though, in those things that are Fat Free...they generally ADD SUGAR to make up for taste when they eliminate the fat.

I got rid of mine the old fashioned way...I lowered my overall body fat percentage from 40% to 22%. Poof!! Gone. : ) Seriously, to get rid of it, you simply have to lower your overall body fat percentage. Do cardio, do strength training, and eat as CLEAN as you can!
-
Sigh...you're right...this will probably be the most difficult task I will ever face.
-
Once I got through the warm-up, I was okay with the workouts. That said, I despised the warm-up EVERY, SINGLE DAY! I did my 60 days, and have done some of the workouts on occasion since then, but have no desire to do another 60 days straight through. I'm glad I did it, I'm grateful that I did it and completed it…

Just wanted to thank you all for starting this thread...my husband, who by NO means eats well (seriously, I call him Mr. Little Debbie if that gives you any ideas), but he regularly is fighting abdominal pain, cramping, etc., and if I think about what he consumes in the 12-24 hours prior to the most severe bouts, I'm…

Best advice someone gave me when I started Insanity...do NOT look at the month 2 workouts until it's time to do them. Seriously...no peeking!

Baron Baptiste Power Yoga 1 and Power Yoga 2 are quite good. A previous poster suggested Tony Horton's One-on-One Fountain of Youth yoga. It's very good (45 minutes) and is NOT the same as his P90X, Yoga X (90 minutes) which I do when it's on the schedule, but I don't really like it.

While you're right that P90X is not a weight loss program, any time you add fitness to your daily routine, eat well, and maintain a calorie deficit, you'll lose weight. I lost 19 pounds in my first 90-day round of P90X, and since starting on my fitness journey lost 32 pounds, and dropped my body fat percentage from 40% to…

That first day of PlyoX generally leaves you walking funny for awhile...going down stairs is a bit of a challenge the next day!
