I've done full rounds of P90X, P90X+, Insanity, ChaLean Extreme, Turbo Fire and have dabbled with indivdiual workouts from RevAbs, Turbo Jam, & Hip Hop Abs. I also just ordered Asylum. My all times favorite, go to workouts...ChaLean Extreme for strength training and Turbo anything for cardio. I started it all off with…

Considering that I'm off to the chiropractor today because I didn't listen to my psoas muscle group when they were screaming in agony for the past two days, I would wholeheartedly recommend a walk, and a LOT of stretching, stretching, stretching. Yoga or Qi Gong!

Take this with a grain of salt, but when I walk my dogs (and we walk briskly in a hilly area), I generally burn about 100 calories every 15 minutes according to both my Bodybugg and my hrm.

I know that Gold's Gym gives out 5 day passes.

A friend of mine runs 8-week sessions out of an elementary school. She charges a set price for the 8 week session and teaches twice per week.

I was TK certified in mid-April and started teaching 10 days later. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also passed my ACE personal trainer certification in May. Will add on a group fitness instructor cert in the next 6 months. I burn some MEGA calories while I'm teaching...and the energy from teaching…

I did it again...two more times. Then did Insanity, then got hurt so was out for 8 weeks with only walking as exercise. Jumped back in with ChaLean Extreme, then did Turbo Fire, then did P90X+, now I teach Turbo Kick 3 days/week and strength train with either ChaLean Extreme or P90X 3 days/week.

IMO, you need to find a good fitness shoe that is designed for aerobic activity. This means that a running shoe is not designed for a program such as Turbo Fire. Your shoe needs to provide good side to side (lateral) stability (a running shoe does not offer this) and cushioning in the forefoot so that would you jump and…

I've been a home workout person for the past 2 1/2 years. Prior to that, I've joined the gym twice and it was a ridiculous waste of my money. I find that if I have to drive somewhere to workout, I simply won't stick with it. So, for me, home DVDs are perfect. I can drive home from work, let my dogs out, have a snack, walk…

I wear a Bodybugg and walk my dogs every afternoon (I have 3 and each gets his own 20-25 minute walk). I walk at about a 3.6-8 mph pace, and on average, burn about 140 calories per dog (in that 20-25 minute time frame).

If you're really lifting, you're lifting to fail within a desired repetition range. I, too, workout with ChaLean Extreme for weight training, and in it you try to fail between 10-12 in months 1 and 3, and 6-5 reps. in month 2. The key is that you're not lifting so that the 12th rep is difficult, you're truly trying to lift…

I pulled an intercostal ligament last spring in my lower right side ribcage. Hurt like the devil and dropped me to the floor in agony while trying to do plank one day. Took it 8 weeks to heal. I could walk my dogs, but that was it. When I started back, I still couldn't do any ab work as that seemed to irritate it. I still…

Cathe Friedrich's HIIT workouts (there's three on one DVD--all are 30 minutes in length)--www.cathe.com Any of the other 'Shock Cardio' workouts by Cathe--http://cathe.com/shock-cardio/ Turbo Fire or for a bit less intensity, Turbo Jam--cardio kickboxing with a dancy feel (but not too dancy)--I actually burn more calories…

For circuit training workouts that are available free online, you might look at the circuits created by Gabby Reese...her website with circuits provided is: http://www.gabbyreece360.com/category/fitness-360/train-360-5/ She shows how to do the moves in a short video and then gives you a list of the moves and how long to…

I had the best results with regards to weightloss and inches loss with my first round of P90X. That is probably because I went from being a sloven couch potato, to being a P90Xer for 90 days. No surprise that I would get great results. My favorite programs, though, and ones that have also given me tremendous results, but…

Cathe Friedrich has several...check our her website www.cathe.com. In fact, here's a link to the page of ab/core DVDs she carries: http://shop.cathe.com/category_s/54.htm. If you click on the specific DVD, she also has a preview video of what the workout entails. Another place to look would be www.collagevideo.com. They…

In all honesty, it really depends on your Intensity. You can get similar caloric burns in a shorter workout with higher intensity than a longer workout with less intensity.

The Inferno Plan is designed to jump start your weight loss at the beginning of the program...it's quite low calorie, so it's not something you can truly sustain for a long period of time. If you're truly out of shape, I would really do the Turbo Fire Prep plan that's described in the book, and then follow the regular…

I agree about getting fitted at a running store...I buy new runners every 6 months and always go in and get refitted. I was surprised to find that this go around, my choice was a pair of Nike's. I've NEVER been able to wear Nike shoes because they're too narrow...it seems that Nike listened to consumer complains. : ) Also,…

Just do the first 45 minutes...IMO, that's the most important part of YogaX (and the toughest!). Yoga IS important to your overall fitness and flexibility. It will also help keep you injury free. I do not recommend replacing it with a high impact cardio workout...it has a purpose. Your head may not like it, but your body…

You have to give it time...the only reason you think you're getting bulky up top is because your body needs time to cut the fat in order for your muscles to look lean. If you are increasing lean muscle mass, and you still have a layer of fat on top, you might just look a little bulky on top. DO NOT PANIC and DO NOT QUIT…

The foam roller and the psoas stretch on the swiss ball (see here on YouTube: http://youtu.be/3QTXloCuMg8 ) have been my saving grace. Mine got so bad that I could feel it in my low back. I was down and out for about 6 weeks doing chiropractic, massage, foam rolling and LOTS and LOTS of yoga and stretching. Now I do these…

With regards to your 5 and 8 pound weights...my question to you is, did you feel as though you couldn't do one more rep when you got to the 12th? If you could do 4 or 5 more, your weights aren't heavy enough. Your goal is to truly FAIL between 10-12 reps in the first phase. It's not about 'feeling the burn,' it's about not…

I love her so much I've done 3 rounds of CLX (two of which were CLX/Turbo Fire hybrids) and just became a Turbo Kick instructor!

Go heavy or go home! (Chalene Johnson speak)...I'm finding that as I'm lifting heavier weights with lower reps, I'm leaning out a LOT. Diet has to be spot on as well...they always say that abs are made in the kitchen. Sometimes, for some of us, abs are made by walking OUT of the kitchen! ; P

I just do one food log into the Bodybugg system at the end of the day. I track it all here, then do a customer food I call, "Calories 4/20" and enter the total cals, fats, carbs and protein.

If you like more athletic drill type workouts, then I'd go with Insanity if you have to choose between the two. If you're more interested in a more 'dancy,' choreographed routine with great music, than Turbo Fire is your go to workout. I've done both, first Insanity (after a year of doing P90X) and then Turbo Fire 4 months…

Best DVDs I'd have to say anything by Chalene Johnson (Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire, ChaLean Extreme) and anything by Cathe Friedrich (www.cathe.com). I also have an old VHS by Minna Lessig that is REALLY good, but I no longer have a VCR. : ( The worst DVDs I've done...hmmm...I bought The Biggest Loser workout a few years ago and…

I'm using anything from 15-30 pounds (and could go quite a bit heavier in Push month on some exercises)...I'm really trying to fail in the given reps each month. And, I'm getting SMALLER!!! Yep...even after 2 years of strength training 3 days/week and doing cardio the other 3 days, this one is shaking things up again.
