Hi and Welcome! We have something in common. I have 2 girls, 12 and 26. Mine are 14 years apart almost to the day. I just joined a week ago, and have found it very helpful. The food diary keeps me honest and lets me really "see" how I eat. Seems to curb the food cravings if I know I have to go to the trouble to enter it in…

Hi and welcome. I think you are doing yourself a big favor by starting a healthy fitness program at the same time you quit smoking. I quit smoking (after 31 years of a 2pack a day habit) one year ago. Last Monday, on my 1 year anniversary, I started a fitness program to try to lose the 25 pounds I gained during that year.…

Okay, it's been one week and I've lost 4 pounds. Weigh in this morning 146 lbs, 21 pounds to go. Kelly

We must be twins, Skinny-to-be. I started this thing Monday too, and weighed in this morning--lost 4 lbs. I'm keeping it at or under 1200 calories per day, and also have set the 8pm cutoff for food intake. I was a big nighttime eater, and I think that probably has a lot to do with it. I'm doing 30 minutes of Pilates type…

Hi from Kansas, Neighbor, I just joined Monday and I'm hooked already. Having to take the time to list every single thing I eat during the day has worked wonders at curbing my food cravings, and mindless eating. And seeing it in black and white that the more I exercise, the more I can eat seems to inspire me to exercise…

Michelle Pfeiffer. She's only 1 month younger than me. But at 49, she looks better than I ever did. Of course, she is simply beautiful to boot. I think we probably have to the same body type. She's obviously taken much better care of hers.

I hear ya, Bob. Add Oreos and milk to that line-up, and you had my steady diet. I just started this fitness stuff myself. And I'll tell you, I'm amazed. I ate a half of a grapefruit 3 days ago for the first time since I was a kid. Not only was it better tasting than I remembered it, I find I am enjoying it more every day.…

Thanks for all the encouragement, folks. And to answer your question, I live in the country just north of Overbrook, KS (little town southeast of Topeka or southwest of Lawrence)

My sponsor in Alcoholics Anonymous was always big on accountability; stressed the importance of regular attendance at a home group meeting, where you see the same faces and people get to know you. So I will use this thread as my "home group" for fitness. I started this journey January 7, 2008 at 150 lbs. I would like to…

Hi All, I'm Kelly, female, live in Kansas and will turn the big 50 this March. Exactly one year ago I quit smoking cigarettes (Yeah!), but have gained a good 25, (uh, let's make that a bad 25) pounds. Feel great about not smoking. Feel like a big fat slob with the extra weight. It's really the first time in my life I've…
