  • I know this is long but its a good place to start. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10177803/recomposition-maintaining-weight-while-losing-fat/p1 So, in general, you should be around maintenance for recomposition. Second, you should consume adequate protein and have sufficient volume in your lifting…
  • A little meal prep today
  • Pretty much this. It's suboptimal as compared to a diet with carbs, but you can gain strength if you still follow the principal of progressive overload. But with that said, exercise is an important component of long term health and sustainment of weight loss
  • I would definitely stress the exercise part, even if that means seeing a PT to help solve the problems. Weight loss should definitely help back issues since you will have less weight to carry, but exercise can also help by strengthening the muscles to support the back structure.
  • Not problem. I love his videos. I started following him to help my wife, but i find it overall content very good.
  • My double wide BBQ Elk buger. Its 647 Schmidt bread (40 calories per slice), with 12g carb, 6g fiber each slice. Elk, ghughes bbq sauce, gouda cheese, fried egg, tomatoes and avocado. This would be a "higher carb" day but my workouts have been brutal, so burning through that glycogen and maintaining ketosis will be easy.
  • Overall, search feature sucks on MFP. I wish it ran the vboard platform which is much more user-friendly
  • Keeping this train rolling
  • No sure how many watch Bret Contreras, but this is a great video. https://youtu.be/MpkwtHqtHWU
  • What kind of foods do you like? I post a lot of keto friendly pics in the low carb section. I cook every night and often create my own recipes. Be careful with some keto "recipes" because they can easily just add a *kitten* ton of fat which adds up in calories quickly. Lowcarbyum is fairly good. Joe Duff (YouTube) makes…
  • If you couldn't tell, I am back doing keto.
  • Slowly making some progress. Took a break from calorie counting because of travel schedules and vacation. I am doing keto because, ironically, it comes a bit more natural and allows me to suppress my insane appetite. Most days i barely think about food on the diet which is good. Lifts have suffered a bit, but that is ok.…
  • To add to what others are saying, its possible that starting with more simple changes so you can form habits, could be a better approach. I like the below video from Jeff Cavalier. Its largely how I started before calorie counting. Its probably why i have been able to keep it off. And this is what i have my wife doing.…
  • Salmon topped with spinach and artichoke dip, and sliced avocado topped with tajin.

  • Absolutely. I use fruit on a ketogenic diet. Pretty much all the time, I will eat raspberries, blackberries or strawberries. And when i transition to maintenance, i will also add in kiwi, watermelon, blueberries (use this on keto too), and other fruits as i want. I generally time most of my fruit at lunch as i workout in…
  • Smoked rotisserie chicken tonight! Simply amazing.
  • Yea, it's what i thought. You use generic scare tactics and "what ifs", as opposed to have data to demonstrate a legitimate concern. Thank you for proving the point.
  • I largely suspect you became more compliant or had less hunger with this approach. Its why, when i cut weight, i use a ketogenic diet, like currently. It just helps blunt my hunger so much easier and i can go extended periods without eating.
  • What science experiment? What long term effects? This shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what Whey is. Or are we trying to say since they have sweeteners that it creates some fictitious lab experiment? Please, and i truly mean this, explain this narrative?
  • Its not uncommon, especially if you became more active or gave your body a diet break. People tend to increase NEAT (calories burned through daily activities) a lot when they increase calories. Given most women i know maintain around 2100-2500 calories, your numbers don't seem too far off from a standard maintenance level.…
  • Man, you need to open your eyes. I have 6-8 different types of protein powder in my house at all time. I don't even struggle to hit protein goals, i just like to finish my day with protein milkshakes. You consistently being opposed to protein supplementation is noted. But let it go and move on. Other people struggle to get…
  • Spinach and artichoke stuffed omelet. I love these things. And at 4g of carbs, they are amazing.
  • From a muscle building perspective, whey > plant based with all things being equal. Whey has less calories. From a flavor perspective, i generally find whey to be a better texture compared to plant based one. But you have to experiment. Brands i like PEScience, Kaged Muscle, Quest Nutrition, and Optimum Nutrition.
  • There are so many variables it would be hard to determine that two cause. The good be shifts in sodium, increased waste production or fathers day just gave your body a needed refeed if you have been dieting for awhile.
  • While this is focused on glycemic control, it would have similar impacts as insulin. All based on a very well designed study. https://youtu.be/EBh6JHP2it8
  • https://labdoor.com/rankings/vitamin-d Here is a list of independently tested brands.
  • As someone who often does Keto, i agree with this. The most successful people tend to be people who create long term sustainable habits. OP, there is no point in doing Keto if you put a lot of emphasis on "keto" products. The problem is, as you notice, they are just calorie bombs. And while the products don't count…
