I know a lot of people who regret waiting to start lifting until they hit their goal weight. I don't know a single one who regrets starting earlier than later.

I suspect in the case of Menno, and based on some discussions from Helms and others, NEAT are the biggest reductions in EE when lean individuals try to get leaner.

There is a solid chance that I am going to revert back to a flexible dieting lifestyle for the time going. With my birthday in a week (which i will be at the beach) and trying to recover from my back issues and having to refinish my whole master bath (thank you mold), i just don't feel i can put in the full effort for…

A cheat meal would not provide enough to have an impact on the metabolism. In a general sense it would be 2 days from what i have seen. It would be likely beneficial for your mental health. And i am all for including free meals as part of a diet plan.

Yep. Simply running a TKD diet, where you time 30-50g of carbs (fast acting so glucose), will help your workouts. OP: its probably the additional fiber that is giving you some digestive issues.

Your brain can run on ketones. It doesn't need sugar. Your CNS and red blood cells are the only thing they requires sugar. OP, i often use peanut butter as a source of fats. Its so much better than nut butters. If you don't want the added sugar, than get an all natural version. If you don't care about the additional sugar,…

Sorry, i should have expanded. Lyle's UD2.0 book came out considerably early than the MATADOR study. In the book it discusses the relationships of ghrelin and leptin. When dieting, leptin decreases (in leaner individuals) and ghrelin increases. UD2.0 is to help leaner people get more lean. Its essentially a 5 day lower…

I haven't see the studies, but i know Lyle McDonald references them in UD2.0 and other books. Not sure if Dr. Norton has any information on that since he is one of the people who has popularized it. I find value in refeeds but generally in those who are lean. Diet breaks also tend to be valuable for those who have been…

I have heard Dr. Rhonda Patrick talk about it... Maybe with Attia, but at best, its theoretical. Personally, i would put more faith into genetics, diet and exercise than medications. And considering autophagy occurs the most from exercise, its probably a good place to start. I'll see if I can find the discussions, but…

Well said. I am getting the feeling we are going down the insulin hypothesis route. And if we are going to get into semantics of carbs vs fat, it won't matter. The only running argument would be high protein diets will almost always show more favorable results when calorie matched, which ironically people we generally…

The first month of dieting, even without keto, is often high losses from reductions in food volume, and adjustments to water retention from sodium. Add in keto where you are depleting glycogen and water, and its pretty common to see large losses.

All of those things should be fine. Try them and see how they work.

^agree with that. I suspect there is some error in your profile set up

Our society knows why there is obesity and its multifaceted; too many calories, too little exercise, high stress, and poor habits. When you get away from those factors, you can improve your health.

You do realize low blood sugar isn't a good thing?. There is a range that you want to maintain.
-
Same as above.

In Virginia we opened in June with 25% capacity and since July 1st, we are now allowed to do 75% capacity but require 6 feet separation and limited equipment
-
I used to think like that too. And its really not too hard for me. But i contribute that to my ability to cook and bake. I know some of you have seen some examples.

Yea, lifts are way better with carbs but my fat loss just isn't there and that is my primary focus. Damn me for having a goal of abs.
-
I am running a cyclical ketogenic diet where i will do carbs every 2-3 weeks. While training does suffer a little, i just don't seem to lose while i am not keto.
-
Two days. I generally aim for 400g and around 150-170g protein on my refeed days
-
It was Dr. Atiga that suggested carbs are like rocket fuel. I am going to agree. After 750g the past two days, my gym session was great today. Some soreness going away, so maybe the extra carbs and flexibility training is helping.

I love when these guys try diets. Their videos are good

To point out, you do not need to restrict carbs that low. Most people can get into ketosis at under 50g a day. And it will vary depending on size, NEAT and other activities. People like endurance athletes can stay into ketosis even at 200g a day. @heybales summed it up though.
-
Just saying, this is 100% keto friendly.

Being fat adapted doesn't have anything to do with losing body fat but rather your body prefers fats as fuel instead of glucose. You can be fat adapted and gain weight. You would burn fat when you are in a calorie deficit.
-
Yes. Some won't and would rather go by total carbs.

There are two methods that work for me, volume eating and keto. The middle ground is a wasteland where i can be hungry on a 3000 calorie a day whole food diet.
