You work in a field that people often don't come unless they are already sick. That is why studies are important, as it looks beyond a single population. Its why, outside of expert opinion, that observational data is the least powerful. You go to a gym where bodybuilders are using high protein keto diets and you won't…

Because its more complicated than that. Not all saturated fats have the same impact and individuals have different response. For example full fat yogurt doesn't have the same impact as butter or coconut oil. The argument is against your oversimplification and overdramatization of SFA/high fat diets. Not all SFA are the…

I am essentially working on a recomp. Hope to lean out and gain a little mass.

So I have been hitting some good PR's. This week I did 425x5 on Hip Thurst, 255x5 on squat, 220x5 on bench and 300x5 on DL. Progressing slowly and really working on not re-injuring my back. Also, I stopped counting calories this week. I am just focusing on whole foods and getting strong AF. I think calorie counting became…

Also to add, if you look at what was written, you can have a high fat diet that isn't loaded with a ton of SFA. Focusing on fatty fish, avocados, olives, dairy, eggs, chia/flax, and nuts/seeds is a great way to healthy fats. Sticky with leaner meats is also a food way to address the issue. Be a little less myopic with your…

Sure. If that is what you believe.

I follow the evidence based community, and even they think there are applications for Keto as long as you don't just live on butter and bacon. Weight management and exercise are the two biggest players in metabolic health. That is why there are people from every diet community that improve their metabolic health. There are…

So do you follow the advice of Dr. Fung or Dr. Ken Berry? Both are doctors. Not all doctors are up to speed with current evidence. That is why in research, we get data from many sources and studies to form hypotheses. I know you are anti keto. Also, pretty sure the poster saw improvements with her metabolic healthy but had…

A few months of keto doesn't outweigh years of unhealthy eating. I have seen and have had friends hospitalized after being on vegan diets. Does that make a vegan diet bad? Also, expert opinion is the lowest form of evidence. And i am personal friends with several doctors, and they aren't always informated with the most…

If you have bad hips/knees, the best thing you can do is go to physical therapy. You ideally want to understand what can be done and rebuild those areas to prevent further injury. And yea, whole eggs are the way to go! I do like 15-25 eggs a week.

This is an overgeneralization. The data is mixed on SFA and there are many co-founding variables. Typically, those who eat diets high in SFA, also tend to exercise less, eat less fruits and vegetables, smoke and drink more, and live am overall unhealthy lifestyle. Generalized statements are generally not helpful and come…

I would go get another opinion before getting on meds. 146 is not that terrible, especially if you fasting bg, triglycerides, and blood pressure are in good standing. That was almost my exact LDL two years ago, and with all my other factors, my chance of cve was like 1%. If you want to stay on Keto because it's been…

What were your actual numbers. You can't judge metabolic health on a single number. Also, one test is only a point in time and can be effected by dieting. Essentially, single data points are reasons to evaluate and get additional test. Btwz you can modulate LDL pretty easily. When i do keto, i can get LDL to 174. I could…

The speed work is just an added stressor to help support hypertrophy. You can easily modify if it causes issues.

Taco bowl and carrot cake chaffles

I ran PHAT. It's a great program. If you want, just extend the rest time for the speed work.

Been dealing with some stomach issues, so i think i am going back towards targeted keto. Tonights specialty, taco bowl with my own seasoning and guacamole recipes.

Ironically, i add salsa after the pics 😂

Nothing fancy today, but was delicious.

Thank you. They taste at least as good as it looks

Low carb carnita tacos and yogurt parfait.

Ann summed it up pretty well. Are you doing yourself a disservice? No. The bigger factor for muscle gains are based on your total protein and more importantly your lifting program. What does your routine look like? In general, meat, dairy and eggs are better protein sources than non meat foods due to higher levels of…

If you read up a few post, he feels better on keto. I agree with most of your logic but if one feels better there may be better solutions like CKD or TKD, rather than just coming off of keto.

Oh and on the pedantic side, calorie restriction increases autophagy and the increases in HGH from fasting is because HGH mobilizes fatty acids for fuel. Transient increases in HGH won't increase muscle gain. Given the limitations of muscle protein synthesis is limited to 30-40g (depending on L-Luceine content), spreading…

If your goal is asthetics and/or maximizing muscle growth, I would probably limit fasting and looks into either a cyclical or targeted ketogenic diet. And most importantly, a well structured lifting routing. Generally, I suggest starting with TKD where you focus carbs before and potentially after your workout. In general,…

Yea, sounds like it. If you ever saw the movie called, "A league of their own", my wife says I pee like Tom Hanks. If you haven't seen it, look it up on YouTube.

An insanely large bladder 😂. I have always drank 150-200oz of water a day. That didn't change on keto. Only my salt intake changed. It obviously increased.

Grilled salmon with a dijon mustard sauce and a balsamic glaze.

In general, I will use avocado oil, ghee or bacon great, but most of my veggies with the first two. I will then season in salt (to pull out the water and help make them crispy), pepper and often garlic powder.

Sounds pretty reasonable. These last two days, I have been about 2 lbs down which is likely food volume and carbs. But overall, it should be trending well.
