Cardio is important, but only powerful when paired with strength training. That is, if your goal is fat loss. I stick to walking and Tabata (max intensity, short intervals) and bodyweight (until I have access to a gym).

If you're totally unwilling to give up your "coffee" -- then go for a Tall instead of a Venti. You can still have your treat, but this size will be easier to fit into your calorie allotment. edit: once you reduce your sugar intake, you might find these drinks more unpleasant. I don't do well with added sugars in anything…

It's tough, but people are never going to stop being jerks. I get leers and nasty comments whenever I step outside because I currently live in a very fatphobic community. You can feel the judgement even when people don't say anything. But not to worry, these people are NOT shy about saying something, anything nasty to your…

great ideas, thanks for sharing!

make yourself a 37-lb backpack. fill it with bricks, bags of flour, whatever. put the backpack on your back and walk around for a few minutes. that's what your body had to do for a long time! put the backpack down and walk around. now how does that feel? don't devalue your progress. take pride in what you've been able to…

woot,, joining the slow loss club >.< I've lost about 1kg (2.2 lbs) in the past... 4 months. I did lose almost 25 lbs earlier this year over the period of 6 months, but still, I'm at a snail's pace right now.

1. toss out the cake. if you don't have it, you can't eat it. 2. find a physical way to deal with the pain. push-ups or a good, brisk walk works well for me. find something you like doing and get energy from it. 3. find an emotional means to address an emotional need. = talk to someone. whether it's a friend or a…

they see you trollin', they hatin'... but seriously, you under eat almost every day. also, you've been here for about a month. it's going to take much longer than that.

I keep long term goals in mind (knowing they are flexible) and focus on day to day challenges. If I don't do as well as I want today, there's always another day. This relieves that pressure because I'm usually such a perfectionist. What has totally changed this time around is the forever mindset that I've adopted. I have…

white rice.... you can pry it from my cold, dead hands.

I'm the same way! I'm trying to be less obsessive and let this process work itself out. So I'm just going to take a rough low average of the numbers and run with it for a while. I spend WAY too much time on MFP and thinking about food/exercise. I need to stick with one plan for a while.

I drink coffee black. It's 2 calories. If you buy high quality coffee, you won't need to add sugar or cream to it.

I'm not a fan of supplements or risking ODing on VitD considering it's fat soluble... soooo how long should I be outside for? :P

high calorie foods that are also nutritionally dense sound good for filling in that additional 1000 cals you need right now. try fatty fish like salmon (omega-3s) bananas, avocado, coconut milk, nuts and seeds, etc. try adding a tbsp of sesame seeds to your stir-fries. make muffins with almond meal or ground almonds. use…

I've been eating and exercising late (12am) and going to bed late (3-4am), so I still log those workouts and meals as the day prior. It doesn't matter when I eat or work out, my sleep cycle determines which day it counts as :) When I wake up, it's a new day, no matter the time.

Lol, as a short person, I hope this is true for me, too! I used to be 5'2'' but then the doctor took that away from me when she remeasured me as 5'1.75... I want that .25" back! Good posture will be easier when there's not so much weight on my back.

This whole thread has been really inspiring. Thanks to everyone for sharing; I hope to be able to add my own success story soon :)
