For some things like that I weigh out a serving a few times and record what that serving weight is for future use. I weighed out 2 TBSP of maple syrup and wrote the weight on the bottle. I know that my milk is 120g per 1/2 cup because I've done it so often. It's more accurate but really I do it so I don't have to dirty…

Cook a pot of rice. Cook a pot of beans. Roast a pan of vegetables. Cook a bunch of your preferred protein - eggs, ground meat, chicken breast, etc. You've got a bunch of food that can be mixed and matched to create different meals. Stock up on oil, vinegar, spices, onion and garlic, canned tomatoes, eggs, cheese, and a…

No sneaking here. I've had a Reese's cup and will be having a couple drinks and my pick of the trick-or-treat stash tonight. Eyeing a mini snickers at the moment.

You're a peach :flowerforyou:

This is fantastic, and it's right where I want to be. I'm 5' 6.5" and about 126 lb. After maintaining for several months and trying to figure out what I want to do I've decided to do a slow and steady bulk. I don't know where I want my weight to end up but I'm going to push hard and work on some big strong muscles!
-
Same here. Nutrition is good but no weight data. I'll check it on my home computer later. Thanks for sharing!

I've been maintaining for several months and just checked in my weekly weight. I do it every week. sometimes it goes up a few pounds and sometimes it goes down. Those are normal fluctuations but I want to check on them so that I don't gain ten pounds without realizing somethings wrong.

I typically don't like doughnuts (blasphemy, I know) but when I want one that's how I prefer it. What I really prefer is beignets and cafe au lait.

This thread makes my heart happy. So many strong, beautiful women. And Ophidion!

I use real maple syrup and just use less of it if I don't want that much sugar. Honey and jam are also good on pancakes but aren't much less sugar than syrup. If there isn't a reason that you need low sugar I'd just use less to cut calories.

I'm so glad this thread was resurrected . Even if I do get in trouble for having booties all over my work computer.

It has been pretty easy for me. I think it's because I didn't have that much to lose and I was eating pretty well before, I was just eating and drinking a little too much of everything. With MFP its been really easy to fix that problem. I did start off with a calorie goal that was too low, but I was never really…

Yes! I wouldn't try to find meals for one, I'd make the full family sized recipes and keep the rest for later. Portion control is key so you don't eat 4 servings of something in a day just because you have it in the fridge. You can easily eat for a week only cooking 2-3 times.

I agree with a lot of the others in that I am not terribly concerned about dietary cholesterol affecting my slight high serum cholesterol (now within normal range.). From my experience and what I've seen in friends and family, the greatest factors in reducing cholesterol are losing weight, increasing exercise, and…

No kids but my BF and I shop twice a week. I used to be a great meal planner but have fallen off in the past few years. Once a week I would sit down with the sale papers to plan out all the dinners I would cook that week, have enough leftovers to take for lunches, figure out how to use leftovers for second meals, and get…

I strongly agree with this. Creating a life is a big deal and is a decision that should require a lot of thought. Look at all the reasons you do and don't want kids and figure out what matters most to you. Having kids or not having kids is not selfish. Just make sure you're doing it for the right reasons.

Sometimes I'll mix salsa with cottage cheese or Greek yogurt when I want to add protein ti my chips and salsa. It's usually not spicy enough so I add lots of hot sauce too.
-
As with most supplements, the benefit of protein powder is convenience. Sure, I could drink 3 cups of milk for breakfast, but I would rather eat a half cup of Greek yogurt with a half scoop of protein powder mixed in for the same amount of protein at fewer calories and less fat. But I do try to get most of my nutrition…

I'm also trying rebuild my wardrobe and only buy clothes that really look good and are quality pieces that will last. I've gotten rid of a lot of my clothes partly because of the weight loss and partly because I recently realized I was a grownass woman and needed to dress like it. I'm an architect so my wardrobe needs to…

Happy Birthday! My birthday was a couple weeks ago and the celebrations stretched out for over a week. Some days were almost normal with an extra treat and some day I ate most of the foods and drank all of the wines. But I agree with the person above who said you should enjoy the things you want to and not just go nuts…

I would not wait to start lifting later. I started lifting when I was almost at goal weight and I really wish I had started sooner. NROLFW and Starting Strength are great books to read and there are groups on here. Form is really important and you can watch a lot of videos online - bodybuilding.com, stronglifts, and just…

I lost most of my weight with running as my main exercise. As I neared goal I realized I wanted to be stronger, not just skinnier. So now I do mainly lift weights with some cardio. It depends what your goals are, but I don't think you have to change your exercise if what you are doing is working for you.

Great job! 34 lbs is no small feat. You lost over 10% of your body weight, that is a big deal!

Thanks! It was a great date :D

I probably burn more calories sitting at my desk browsing MFP than I do watching TV. Because I'm sitting upright with good posture, clicking on a keyboard, and searching for drama rather than just laying on the couch. But the difference is negligible.

I do a lot of baked goods from scratch- bread, pizza, crackers, scones, etc - but specialty things like baguette, croissant, bagels, puff pastry I'll buy. Hamburger buns were a little much. I've made a lot of condiments but mustard never worked out. I haven't attempted butter or yogurt yet. BF used to brew beer but no…

They may have included oz for a volume measurement, half a cup. But fluid oz. should be used for pourable food and I'm not sure how pourable bean salad is. I'd stick with what you are sure is a weight measurement, 43 grams.

Calories, protein, fat, iron. In that order.

Thanks! Your link must have gotten lost amongst all the food porn I was drooling over. You are correct, I have no tandoor and it makes sense that my oven can't get hot enough since I can't even get a good crispy pizza crust in it. I will check out the links and Madhur Jaffrey. Taunto's eggplant and okra curries look…
