Whoa! I never heard that one! That's nuts!! LOL Thanks for sharing!

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I just can't endorse any Atkins kind of plan. I'm afraid I'm with her on this one. To each, their own. :drinker:

Depends upon what levels you have your protein and fiber set to. I shoot for a daily goal of 30 grams of fiber a day. It's hard to stay within one's calorie limit and get too much fiber. Same goes for the protein, within a restricted calorie diet. Just don't overdo it so much on protein that you give up the…

Weigh them (look at home many grams are in a serving size). That way it won't matter if they're crushed or whole. Assuming you have a digital kitchen scale. If not, consider one. They're awesome. :)

What they said, plus it's my morning favorite. Love it with a ton of blackberries, blueberries and fresh pineapple. Makes a HUGE portion, it's nutritious and delicious! Yummo!

It's a tie between: Don't eat fruit, it has too much sugar and Avoid carbohydrates and eat super high protein. :drinker:

This is an A+ answer!!!

Depends on how good they are!

We all have these days, so don't despair. My first piece of advice would be to choose ONE scale and use that. It really doesn't matter which is right -- either will show you the change in the right direction, which is what you really care about, right? Hang in there and try to focus on how good the successes feel. Get…

Agreed. Plus, this might be helpful to you: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/TrainerRobin/view/myth-or-fact-calories-in-versus-calories-out-3500-calories-one-pound-and-should-i-eat-my-exercise-calories-62012 Hope that helps!

Unlike the old days, we now know that any cardio exercise done in increments of at least 10 minutes (a minority of researchers say 15 minutes) at a time, is equally effective. That means if you do 10 minutes of cardio (remember to count only the time that you're in your working heart range), six times a day, it's every bit…

Me too. Healthier and a yummy option!

For many reasons, and after extensive education on the subject, I never endorse low carb diets. Carbs got a bad rap over the past few years, when it should have been all about BAD carbs. Healthy, complex carbs are very good for you and in fact, essential. Avoid the bad carbs (processed foods, white carbs, etc.). Embrace…

If they are healthy, complex carbs then don't give it a second thought. I am not afraid of carbs ... and in fact, embrace them (the healthy varieties!). :)

Go to a store that specializes in running shoes and get a professional fitting. They should really work with you, watch you walk and run in several pairs of shoes, and find the one that is just right for you. It's not that much more expensive, but soooooo important. :)

Excellent work. Amazing results. Good for you. Your story is inspirational!

Me too. Once they're roasted and salted, they're yummy just as they are!

Welcome!! I'm so jealous -- I love San Diego. The waterfront is the prettiest place to run. Go do that for me some time!! I can live vicariously through you!!

The old notion that one can/should work their abs every day has been debunked. Ab muscles are muscles. Muscles need 48 hours between workouts -- no matter where that muscle is located. Abs are the same. Every other day would be better so they have a chance to recover. You'll make much better progress that way ... BTW --…

Agreed re some of the bars. Just have to choose very carefully and read the nutritional labels to ensure you get a good quality one. There are plenty of junky "candy bars" out there, posing as nutritional bars!

Agreed. The only reason I didn't mention that was because I assumed (and we know what they say about assuming!) this was day one of MFP tracking. If not, yes, yes, yes. It's essential to log even if you have an "off" day. If for no other reason, than knowing how much "damage" you did. If you eat an extra 1,750 calories in…

Excellent Job!! Best I've seen on MFP!! NIce job. My only suggestion would be to add fiber to the things MFP counts (my daily fiber goal is 30 grams/day). You're probably meeting or exceeding that, which is wonderful. :) If you can keep that kind of eating up, you'll be rocking and rolling in no time! I'm impressed!!!

Anything that's high in protein, yet has some carbs and a bit of fat (for scientific reasons ... its not a coincidence that post-workout shakes and bars coincidentally have this formulation!). My favorite is chocolate or strawberry Light Muscle Milk. Yummo!

Y'all did pretty well. I love their system of scoring foods. Sure wish it was on the front label of all products in all stores. Would make it easier for the masses to make healthier choices. What is easier than red light, yellow light, green light? A brief description from the NuVal website: NuVal™ Scores summarize…

quite true. For every woman I've worked with. For me, I usually gain between 3 & 6 pounds but the good thing its it comes right back off afterwards.i always wonder why they never address that issue on Biggest Loser ... because we all know its a factor!

Thanks so much, but have to say that your posts are always thoughtful and spot on. :) And it looks like we traveled the same path, losing 50+ pounds over three years ago and keeping it off -- partly with running. It's my lifesaver, too! Keep posting on here. I've seen several of your posts and think they are always very…
