  • I was told to wait 18 months, but just like the post-op plans, all doctors have different restrictions. I am only 2 1/2 months out so I will not be ready for quite some time. I say double check with your doctor, and then have fun! :blushing:
  • My favorite response in those situation is "Well, I might be fat, but I can lose weight. You however will always be a _______." The blank can be filled in with whatever you feel is best warrented in the situation. Rude disguting people. It makes me sad.

I sleep through the night, have not had a single reflux episode, and I couldn't be happier. I started the process thinking I wanted the sleeve, but was convinced…

  • Today I made a "Philly cheesesteak" sandwich sans bread. I took one of those beefsteak packets 13 g protein per serving, and added frozen bell peppers and onions and then topped it with a piece of low fat provolone. It was divine! Cheesy, warm and yummy! Oh, and 190 calories and 18 g of protein.

  • Well, I am a month behind you and I eat around 700-800. I think it depends on your exercise levels. You might try adding a little more and see what happens. In any case, I always recommend talking to your doctor to see what he/she thinks.
  • Just in case someone is still looking...I had surgery right before the holidays, and I am a teacher so I took off nine days, and then went into the holiday break. All in all, I was out exactly three weeks and it was just right! I went back for three days my first week, and was tired, but it was manageable, and then did…
  • I made my own broth...so much better than store bought, and froze it in smaller portions. I had beef and chicken. I also loved sugar free popsicles, jello, and my protein shakes. Mine was 2 weeks, and I could have a small meal at night (under 300 cal) during the first week, but after that it was liquids only. I will say…

  • I have tried it and it's okay. Don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I have the individual iced coffee packs, the ones that you have to order in groups of seven, if you want me to mail you one to try. Let me know!
  • Tania, Welcome to the group! I just had my surgery on 12/11/12, but started my process in March of 2012. I had to be supervised for 6 months with monthly weigh-ins, had to lose 10% of my starting body weight, go to 6 weeks of lifestyles classes, see the surgeon, do exercise and meet with the exercise physiologist, plus…
  • Depending on how far out you are, try shrimp or other seafood. It's soft, I digest it easily, but some people may not, and it's a great protein boost. I typically have shrimp cocktail made with cocktail sauce and greek yogurt and a dash of Old Bay seasoning. I also do deli turkey slices rolled with low-fat provolone…

  • Hello to everyone! I am one month post-op RNY. It's been a great month! I lost 25 pounds, several inches, and have had very few issues so far. I have not had a dumping episode yet, and hopefully never will, but I have had a reflux issues. It was strange since it was something I ate one day and was fine with, but the next…

  • Update Week 1: Still 270 (sigh) Exercise is daily 30-45 minutes walking. Woot! Inches- lost 3 more (I am going to have to adjust this goal)
  • I am down 55 and people have just started to notice. When you have as much to lose as I do, it takes a lot more for people to realize that you have lost.
  • Everyone, I am so glad you posted this! I have been beating myself up today since I am almost 4 weeks out but only 20 pounds down since surgery. I forget that losing 20 is great for my first month, regardless of when it came off. I think that I had it in my mind that I should be seeing crazy numbers, but forgot that…
  • Thanks for the update! I hope you feel better soon.
  • Weighing and updating each week is a yes! I'm using Thursday as my weigh in day, but pick whatever works for you. As for finding this post, it should appear in your My Topics list now that you have replied to it.
  • My go to high protein lunches: Any salad (tuna, salmon, chicken, egg, crab) made with Greek yogurt instead of mayo. A low fat lunch meat, think chicken, turkey or some beef deli slices rolled with cheese slices around a dill pickle wedge. Shrimp - fixed any way. I like to make a dip from Greek Yogurt and Cocktail sauce for…
