  • I pay $25 a month for just the Gym membership at Core Fitness. They have a ton of classes including zumba for a $40 a month membership. And yea, even though they have personal trainers that you can buy sessions with, we always have at least 2 in the gym at all times. Heck I even get free sessions with one of them every…
  • Yeah, and I have to say for a guy who pretty much grew up on red meat I was actually surprised to find a VEGAN burger, of all things, would be delicious. Plus there's always that factor that, at only 70 calories a Patty, I can go back for seconds and not feel like I'm ruining my whole day.
  • My local Wal-mart sells these Boca Original Vegan burgers. 70 calories per patty with 280mg of sodium. Have you tried those?
  • With all the free time on my hands, I didn''t have a reason NOT to.
  • Usually I have to force myself to eat something, because I know if I don't eat when I get off work (I don't eat lunch at work btw) I'm gonna be REALLY hungry throughout the day no matter what I eat. Usually a bowl of cereal or a PB&J on Double-fiber wheat holds me until dinnertime.
  • I ALWAYS log my food. That little nerdy, data-hungry part of my brain won't allow me not to.
  • In my honest opinion, kinda yes and no. The A/C isn't making us fat, it's the fact that, in a climate-controlled environment our bodies don't have to work as hard to keep our internal temperatures in check. See, when you keep the thermostat at a constant 72 degrees (or whatever temperature you feel comfortable at) your…
  • Fast food is another huge guilt food of mine. In the past few months I can't even remember the last time I went to a McDonald's and ordered a box of chicken nuggets, and I don't think I ever will again (my adult mind has yet to grasp exactly what part of the chicken the "nugget" comes from). Chinese food was also another…
  • That's not true. Potato chips and stuff like that can't be considered bad foods because a single serving of them won't ruin your entire day. I'm talking about foods that have like 90% of your DV of fat of 160%(?) or your DV of cholesterol in a single serving. There's no way that you can eat these kinds of foods, even in…
  • Thank you for your amazingly insightful post but you completely missed the question I was asking.
  • Feel free to add me. I'm not much of a social person (something I'm working on fixing) but perhaps we can help keep each other on track somehow. It's always nice to meet people with similar goals in mind.
  • From what I can best understand about how the deficit works, it goes like this. And I'm doing to try and explain it the best I can. Let's say for example, your body requires 2000 calories in order to function throughout the day. This means that if you did NOTHING for an entire day, you would burn through 2000 calories a…
  • Oh absolutely. Fitness and health have never been big in my family, so when I tell them I'm joining a gym, or that I'm eating better, or that I can't eat what they're eating because it's too unhealthy, they simply scoff at me or make some sly comment. It's like they're mocking me, it's like them saying "look at this…
  • I thought the point was OK TO EAT THOSE CALORIES, as long as you have a deficit. If you have a calorie budget of 1900 calories and you work off 600 calories, then you have to ingest 2500 calories to maintain your current weight. But If you work off 600, and then you EAT 600, you're still 1900 calories in the clear for the…
  • Usually, but that's only when it's in small meals or snacks. When I do have a big meal though, I'm full for like, hours, sometimes to the point where I don't even eat breakfast the next day.
  • Try the low-fat or sugar free kinds. I bought a pack of Sugar-Free Fudge Popsicles at walmart (40 calories per bar, 80 per serving) and I find that they're pretty sweet treat and a nice alternative to the regular ice creams. Plus, I've got it in my mind where I consider a single serving to be 1 bar when the regular serving…
  • Omega-3 Peanut Butter & Apple Jelly sandwich on Double-Fiber Whole wheat bread with a cup of 1% milk. 345 calories total. Personally I can't stand whole wheat bread but 15 seconds in the microwave will make anything edible, plus warm peanut butter always tastes better.
