I started out doing aqua aerobics b/c my knees were so bad and it was difficult to do much more than that. Aqua aerobics provided both good cardio and toning for me. After about 4 months of aqua and losing a good amount of weight I wanted to up the intensity and was able to add Zumba. After a few months of that I started…

I too allow myself to eat the things I like (cake, cookies, pizza, pasta, wings, etc. ) but just not all the time. It's called LIFE. Those foods are going to be around and you will be exposed to them. Enjoy them from time to time but don't let it throw you off. I've found, from past experiences, that the more I deny myself…

That is incredible! I actually did that a few weeks ago w/ a pair of old capri pants. I actually fit into 1 leg and put my 5 yr old nephew in the other leg. It was a fantastic feeling. I plan on taking a picture soon. I have gone from a size 30 pants to a 14. Keep it up! You look great!!

First off….CONGRATS on making this commitment and life change!!!! I’m not a single mom but I am 33 yo and will be 34 next month. I started MFP on July 2, 2012 and have lost 122 lbs since then. Ideally I would like to lose 166 lbs but I want to make sure that I get to a point that is sustainable. I am happy where I am at no…

i would buy clothes, shoes and jewelry as rewards. I rewarded myself, and brought my sister along, for a full out spa day for the 100 lb goal. I wanted a big reward, one that i would work towards and feel a sense of accomplishment and reward when i got to it. I had never had a spa day before and it was fantastic!! My…

i purchased the polar ft60 and love it. but as @jacksonpt said, there is no way to guarantee complete accuracy. i have heard good things about polar and garmin. i know that w/ my heart rate monitor it is still an estimate but it is a better estimate than mfp or the heart rate monitors on the machines at the gym.…

@ Smithkulaga - congratulations on your accomplishments so far!!! When I first started out I was doing aqua aerobics and estimated that I was burning about 300 - 400 calories a class. After several months of aqua aerobics, I was able to do more and started doing 2 classes in a row a few times a week which was aqua aerobics…

I do both, eat and not eat. I typically work out 6 days a week and burn 800 - 1100 calories a work out doing spinning and weights. MFP has my calorie goal at 1220 a day. My trainer has told me that I need to consume about 1400 calories a day b/c I am so active. She said that my body need the extra fuel (calories) b/c I am…

Hi everyone! I joined MFP in July 2012 and to date have lost 121 lbs. I knew I had a lot to lose but never thought I could lose as much as I have. I am here to support all of you and let you know that you can do it. I used to be very active and in the last 7 yrs did nothing and gained a lot of weight. Due to the excessive…

I was addicted to mountain dew and soda as well. I used crystal light to wean myself off of it as well as Crystal Bay. Crystal Light wasn't enough b/c I really missed that carbonation. I am extremely picky and I can't stand seltzer water and dislike most flavored waters. I was introduced to Crystal Bay and now drink that…
