I have 4 dogs: Willy - cross Lab/Springer - the dog of my life now getting old. Jed - a black Cocker - absolutely nuts but great fun and full of mischief - cannot be tired out. Paddy - a lovely natured Border Terrier. Teasle - a tiny little deaf rescue terrier. They are my constant companions on many a muddy marsh walk.…

I use it as a daily "Bank Balance" if I deposit calories in by exercising that allows me to withdraw calories out if I need them. I don't carry calories over to the next day but start with a clean sheet every day. I find this keeps me on track. You have to eat some calories back otherwise you go down to silly un-healthy…

Yep, that's been my problem. I tended to guess and I was ok with veggies but really out with meat etc. I had a great treat of some cheese last night because it was weighed and measured with no guessing.

If there is a claim on a label that something is organic then it has to be backed up by Certification!! You cannot label something as Organic that has not been Certified to legal Standards!! It is prosecutable by law. If anyone has any queries on how Certification is done or how land and then products produced off that…

Agreed, A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing!

What does it matter who owns the organic company??? They still have to have an independent audit to achieve and comply with the Standards and gain Certification. They do not Self Certify (that's where I come in) Your use of the terminology (complete Idiot) implies that as Organic Auditors we do not do our job. I do my job…

GM...It's the biggest no-no in organics - instant de-certification

No, we don't let it die - we give it the antibiotics it needs and de-certify the product so it goes into the conventional market.

I have been through some horrible times in my life, the only thing I have learnt is .....Nothing ever last for ever. Pain, grief, suffering, hunger, anything. Cry and move on.

Turn in around - what can you walk in a day? i.e how much time can you honestly do it for? That's your answer. I have job which is very un-predictable in location so some days loads of driving other days not so much. I booked time in my diary today to do a real fat-buster walk and ramped up about 600 calories. Do what you…

Hi, I am 210 pounds. I have a Garmin HRM (GPS) and it is set to my current weight profile. On one of my walks I walked for 77 mins over rough terrain some hills at an average speed of 2.9mph. I burned 448 calories and covered 3.79 miles. Hope this helps, S.

British Special Forces use this kind of technique: Fartlek - (Sounds horrendous but works a treat) This is also an example of what a fartlek session might look like, but fartlek sessions should be designed for an athlete's own event or sport, as well as catering to their individual needs. Sessions should be at an intensity…
