  • I LOVE my Vivofit, and I have used a Fitbit Ultra, Polar Loop and still use a Body media Fit. As soon as the Vivofit syncs with Myfitnesspal I will drop the Body Media. Not having to recharge is turning out to be a much greater benefit than I imagined, and never having to take it off and then rember to put it back on is…
  • Had both and now only have the Vivofit so I guess that tells you how I would vote. Loop was not ready for release, had issues in almost all areas. A lot of those are now fixed though. I also had problems with the chest strap sending a correct signal to gym equipment after battery life dropped just slightly. The Loop…
  • It has been awhile so I don't really remember the others but I checked consumer reports and other online reviews, it also had one of the widest decks, I liked the warranty and could actually get it cheaper at the sporting goods store but had to pay tax over ordering it so it came out about $26 higher. However I did not…
  • LOVE my sole F80 bought it at "****,s Sporting goods" and they had free set up and delivery. Set up is a chore with it as it is very well made. Dang censer that said the Nick name for Richard LOL As in Tricky "Richard" Nixon.
  • Had all three and would only consider the Garmin Vivofit now. I received mine a few days ago and it works completely as advertised. Paired and synced flawlessly. Connected and worked well with the heart rate chest strap. Steps are comparable to my BodyMedia fit. Couple of advantages. The movement reminder bar does not go…
  • HRMUSA just billed mine so it must be shipping at least in black. Maybe it is the other colors that are not.
  • will not trade mine in but the Garmin Vivofit would be my choice for a bracelet and Garmin is more into apps so it may sync.
  • Cannot say what he is waiting for but the products are really starting to make some big advances. Try searching for "Dash Ear-bud". Not something you would wear all the time unless you are a teenager LOL but you can see the changes that are just a year away, things are moving fast but they all will need a savey Web/App…
  • Haybales failed to mention that Garmin also uses the "Firstbeat Algorithm" which some consider more accurate for Burn estimations. This is a good article on the subject also by DCrainmaker http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2010/11/how-calorie-measurement-works-on-garmin.html Since that was published Garmin is now using Firstbeat…
  • Loop is not alone here, they released a Bluetooth foot pod as well that does not work correctly but it is due to a software issue, it will not hold a calibration change you set in. The other big negative in my book is that they combined the Flow (read Loop) visibility with their new visibility for their HR products which…
  • Because the H7 transmits two different signals. One is "Gymlink' and analog and the other is Bluetooth, your wrist unit is designed to pick up the gymlink signal. The Bluetooth will not transmit in the water reliably which is what your Loop is designed to receive. If you look on the Polar forums you will see this stated by…
  • So sounds like your almost ready for the Olympics with a VO2 of 51 (LOL). Don't know what to tell you, sounds like it was based on your RHR of 60, that would be very low for me. I would do it a couple of times and try to mirror the conditions eg. first thing in morning. There are some free smartphone apps to get your HR…
  • I did not notice it either until I did a few fitness tests. The VO2 change may have driven it but could not get it back even after changing VO2 to default. Customer service could not help.
  • I like Digifit a lot but my experience was that is way overestimated calorie burn. I ran simultaneous readings with various gym equipment, body media and two different polar products ( yes I was WIRED LOL). they were all comparable to each other but digifit was at least 40% high. Your experience may vary but I stopped…
  • I meant to say Analog not Android, and the reason aI said the H7 would not work was because he was using it with a Loop. Like I said I have two h7 purchased a couple of month apart and both have a problem with the gymlink signal eventually. My testing says it always works with a new battery but I don't want to put in new…
  • Passed my Loop on and am waiting for a Garmin Vivofit in hopes it will do what I expected the Loop to do. I am not sure why you are saying you want an H7 to swim with because the Bluetooth signal will not transmit in the water. When polar says the loop works in the water they did not point out the HR feature does not.…
  • Like you I have found "Zone" training to be very effective and much more efficient. I use a Polar F60 and love it which is another reason I gave up the Loop and the H7 chest strap. I also like the training program the F60 gives me. I have found my BMF tracks the HRM well though so I do not enter any HR based data. Still…
  • Thanks for the info MaverickMH, I had not heard of the portable metabolic testing unit in the study linked. It does say that the BM compared favorably to it in the resistance exercises so maybe I do not have to be as conservative as I have been and take mine off. I had read several reports on why a HRM should not be used…
  • Actually they don't say that the accelerometer is used in the calorie calculation just that it is a data point. When wearing a HRM and the BM on my elliptical I get very similar calorie burns which also are close to the elliptical's readings. Since the BM step count is often less than a hundred, depending where I have my…
  • Did not say or mean to imply that it did not contain or use an accelerometer to count steps. From my experience steps recorded do not really seem to influence calories burnt on the BM and the other sensors do. I have found my BM is most "accurate" for "Full Body" cardio for me, but that is my subjective opinion. I feel…
  • While BM does not do well with step count during cycling, steps do NOT contribute to your HR/calorie burn count at all. Steps goal is stand alone and does often not reflect effort or work which why BM is so much better than the Fitbit or others that focus on steps and base all calculations off of them.
  • Have a Loop also and have used an H7 chest strap to link with it, I have also tried the H^ but it is harder to get it to link for me. I have had issues with the second signal "Gymlink" on the H7. It seems to have problems with any gym equipment after the battery goes down even a little. If you don't use gym equipment this…
  • Wow a HRM that goes in your ear rather than a chest strap, thanks for the heads up. Might make me want to build and use a playlist LOL
  • I also use a HRM for my workouts because I am a firm believer in "Zone" training and also want to track changes in my fitness level. I have compared the HRM to BM several times and they have always been close for me so I do not record the HRM data in MFP and just let the BM do its thing. Garmin is coming out with a new…
  • If you can live with a wrist model and want various colors get a "Vivofit" by Garmin which is releasing in the next 5-8 weeks.
  • There are various styles of "Activity Monitors" and what they record depends on the style. Fitbit Ultra is often clipped on a Bra or kept in a pocket. the Flex and Force are wrist type and so see steps better but not good for when you walk with your hands in your pockets, cycling etc. The Jawbone is in this category.…
  • A new model was supposed to be released last August but since Jawbone aquired them no further word was sent out. This is a great deal and I wish I could take advantage of it but I am also glad I have mine already and enjoyed it for many months. This deal may also mean the new model may be out shortly and they are clearing…
  • If you can wait about 8 weeks you may want this as it is a HRM and an activity tracker. Vivofit by Garmin Battery last a year and it is water resistant to 50 meters
  • Going to write off my Loop as a bad purchase. Recent problems with Polar's Chest strap that sends two signals have caused me to turn away from BLE sensors or at least Polar's. I posted this on another thread but think it fits here Maybe the perfect solution is about to come out. Garmin Vivofit, water resistant to 50 metes,…
  • Maybe the perfect solution is about to come out. Garmin Vivofit, water resistant to 50 metes, one year battery life, always on display which can show time, learns your activity and notches the goals up a tad each day to keep you pushing, will pair to a HR chest strap that DOES NOT have to be Bluetooth and will connect and…
