  • Hi, My home scale makes me one pound heavier than the one at the gym. I do weigh myself every morning (because I am a little silly) at home but only weigh myself once a week at the gym. I use the one at the gym to update my log. I chose to use the gym one because it tells me my fat % etc, which I find quite helpful.
  • I am by no means an expert, and I think you would be best consulting a dietician. I would think that you need to gain weight but that you want to gain lean muscle mass to give you strength. If you see a dietician and maybe they could recommend you a good mix of macronutrients to help you bulk up in the right areas. I…
  • Love PB! I am really careful to measure the portion and I have it an hour before running on a slice of toast... yum. I also find that eating that makes me not miss sweet stuff quite so much. Not sure why, must be because it is rich. Don't cut it out, you will regret it!
  • This is a problem area for me too! Mine is shrinking, the only advice I can give is eat limited amounts of potato and pasta... I have also reduced my bread intake (to small slices of wholemeal bread), and this seems to be helping. Apparently carbonated drinks are also bad for bloating (although, I couldn't live without…
  • I can't speak for everyone, but I can say that athletic competition is fantastic viewing when it is at the highest level. That is what the Paralympics provides, top class sport that is exciting and is of interest to the average person. I think the problem that people have with the Paralympics is that the classifications…
  • There are loads of British on here... technically I am Canadian but I've lived in the UK for 8 years...I am hoping this makes me an honorary Brit! :)
  • Nightmare for you... this is unchartered territory for any person, and it is impossible to judge what her reaction would be. Would I think you were a jerk if you made that comment to me? Well no, but my OH calls me 'Tubbs' when I start to get a little porky. This sounds like a terrible thing to do but the truth is that it…
  • wow super well done! It takes dedication to get results like that, you and your husband must be proud of your results! How did he do?
  • Cake... restaurants that have 3 course set meals... cookies... so many reasons. All are brought on by not listening to my body, ignoring my feelings, and not exercising enough.
  • You sound like me! Took slightly less than ten years to gain the pounds though... I think logging your food and activity is key. As soon as I log things, I automatically feel more in control of what I am doing, and I think that is half the battle.
  • There are two issues here the first on is the one asked by the OP. That is can you eat whatever you want within your goal and lose weight... like pretty much everyone said 'Yes, you can'. I would add that you can as long as you stay in goal calorie wise as well as carb, protein, fat, sugar and sodium. The bigger issue is…
  • Excellent work! You look awesome but most importantly you look really happy.
  • I am exactly the same for the same reasons... people are always apologising for eating meat around me, I don't care, I cook it just not for me. My OH would be very grumpy without it.
  • Hi, I have 26 Ibs to lose too... I will send the friend request.
  • You've come to the right place, if you want support there is so much of it on here you won't know what to do with it.
  • Hi, I recommend the C25K and then you can introduce Fartlek training to increase from 5K. Good luck. I have a similar goal, half marathon in May. Just about to start the training myself.
  • Wait before you return them. I ran in Rebok running shoes for ages and then bought Asics. I was properly fitted, ran on the treadmill etc... and same as you I had pain around the outside of the ankle when I was running (after approx 4Km). I was really upset, my new shoes were expensive. I went back to the running shop and…
  • The site automatically asks you to do it every 10 Ibs. I find mine actual calories eaten etc doesn't actually change (or hasn't yet).
  • That sucks... it is hurtful and just unnecessary. I don't know why people don't live by the general rule of 'treat others the way you would want to be treated' or just 'if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all'. The only thing I could suggest is that you explain that their comments are hurtful and that if…
  • Hi from Bradford here too!
  • Been there and done that. I also moved to another country for my OH. Best advice I can give you: 1) First two years suck... I cried so many times I can't even count them. It was just about little things being constantly different that make it horrendous. And missing friends/family. 2) Hang in there, you will adjust. 3)…
  • well done to you!
  • Ooh I think this thread has touched a few raw nerves. I can totally understand how women (and men) who cannot have children feel about this... it is devestating being told that you cannot have children, even if you did not want to have them. As a result, I can understand that if for some reason, you have had the…
  • Pretty much describes my life. I have a five pound window where people seem satisfied with me. Below it and I get, you look horrible you are too thin and above and it's 'whao you look like you are getting pudgy'. I sometimes feel like I can't win.
  • This is a cool site for tips, motivation and support. I am trying to lose another 30 pounds, and I have also used every diet under the sun. I agree everything is about being accountable and eating good food.
  • Well, you have come to the right place. I am sure your wife doesn't mean to be unsupportive. She is probably just pre-occupied with the baby and the household, etc. How much would you like to lose? I am not a big believer in gyms as being the most important aspect of this process, and I think you will find it easier if you…
  • We sound very similar, I also have a fiancee and a garden and about 40 pounds to lose. I got into running a little while ago and between that and the 30 Day Shred it is my favourite exercise.
