u are not alone: i feel SO sick when i eat fried/processed/unfamiliar/restaurant food too. my trick is trying to REMEMBER how crappy it makes me feel, and to take a pass on the stuff. sometime i win that battle, sometimes lose. haven't figured out how to make it a PERMANENT lifestyle change yet :)

thanks EVERYONE who has shared advice and experience!!! lots for me to think about, try, and research. just posted my food for the day, so u can see an example of how i eat when i am eating "carefully", and u can see some brief journaling about my symptoms in the "notes" section. fortunately, not too many symptoms today,…

thanks everyone for all the feedback...maybe it IS my gallbladder, even tho ultrasound was normal. many people told me that i should also ask for a "HIDA scan" and other tests...just because my gallby looked normal on an ultrasound (no stones) does not mean that i am completely out of the woods. the frustrating thing is…

I eat soy almost daily: the only soy i have every had any problems with (gas, diarrhea, painful BMs) is CRAZILY processed soy, as in, "vegan chicken wings" or "bacon"....that stuff is awesome, and keeps me sane when i need a treat, but i pay for it the next day, and it does not feel right in my body. tofu? tempeh? edamame?…

thanks for the suggestions and responses. to clarify: i am right between 5'9 and 5'10, as stated in the original post. as to the "why have a goal weight at all?" question, I am not the type of person who can work to change behaviors without having some kind of goal to move toward.... if i were to just "look in the mirror…

I ordered salad at a resturant, skipped out on white rice, and refraining from ordering anything fried. WINNNNN!

so far, over 2 weeks back in OA: abstinent, writing on daily stepwork, seeing HP in my life, and feeling grateful!!!

i hear you! 190 is basically where i have been stuck for the last year or so...high weight was 225, goal weight is 155. i don't have any advice, but just know: u are not alone :)

yes, write about this...lots. something in having a debate with someone, feeling less than, brought up painful feelings: -when have u felt this way in the past (ie: not smart enough)? -what is your relationship with this person like? -what about the incident bothered you? -what can u do TODAY that would be best in line…

writing your feelings and fears in a journal, seeing a therapist, practicing yoga or meditation, or any other path to self awareness will help. we often never realize that even when we get thin, we will still be the same person with the same challenges and personality. just...smaller.

yes, has to be squeezed of all water, cut into pieces, freezed, defrosted, soaked in marinade, then drained off. THEN, u can begin to smoke it or what not

LOL! i am a hoop dancer (i dance while spinning hula hoops on all parts of my body), and sometimes use a fire hoop, which is a hoop that has wicks affixed to it using metal spokes. the wicks get dipped in lamp oil, and are lit to create fire that u can dance with.

staying within my cals (and I keep them at a fairly high range~1750/day), and abstaining from unhealthy food choices in restaurants. often, i want to eat over my cals, and do so. then, i don't see loss, so i get discouraged, etc also, i want fried veggies, or tofu in rich sauces, and that can derail me at restaurants. but…

yes, yes, yes to everything u have said!!!! in fact, i almost afraid that, as i continue to lose weight, others will say, "uh-oh...u are getting skinny! u are starving! see, veganism does not give u enough protein! eat a cheese burger, quickly now!" i hope to a be a skinny vegan someday, and i am working on it! mostly, I…

SO true...I generally try to discourage people from seeing as a purely "weight loss diet" for all the reasons u mention!

cold pasta salad: whole wheat pasta, olive oil, chopped raw veggie, spices, dot of balsamic vinegar, always a crowd-pleaser :)

Hi, my name is Adrienne i am a compulsive overeater. at various times in my life, i have binged on large volumes of food, grazed on food all day long, eat past the point of fullness to the point of physical pain, dieted restrictively, and generally been beaten by my food obsession. there have also been periods of recovery,…

thanks so much for this thread and this group--i struggle with binge eating, overeating, and it is good to have a support system here :)

amazing results so far; i can see that u are working really hard and you are committed to this journey. i often get discouraged with my progress since certain injuries and joint pain can affect my exercise abilities. but the next time i feel like using that as a cop-out, i will think of u and use that as a motivator: u…
