  • I am just putting in my total from the end of the workout as cardio. I have been going to OT 4 times a week since February and I lost 8 pounds. I feel fantastic! I had hit a plateau that I thought I would never break. Finally after the first 6 weeks the scale moved a couple pounds. The last three weeks have been…
  • I use the app, " Out of Milk". I love it. Others in your house can sign up and add things to the list from their phone or tablet too.
  • I like the Nature's Way Alive! vitamins. It's a whole food vitamin & the ingredient list seems much better than most of the multis. I am sure they aren't perfect but I have done a lot of looking into them and can't find much bad rep so that's what I stick with. I am far from a perfect eater so I need a little kick.
  • Eat what you are craving (in moderation) then go for a nice walk to burn it back off if you can't fit it in to your intake. That's what I try to do anyway.
  • There is a resize tool in Photobucket you can use. Just open the pic and click the edit button to get to it.
  • Thanks for the tip about that dressing. I have tried the Boathouse and it's ok. Most of the time I just use regular dressing & am careful about my portions.
  • I love your story - thank you for posting and congrats on everything!
  • This probably won't work for everyone but it has worked twice for me - cheat days. Both times it wasn't on purpose, it was due to a holiday. This past time I went probably 6 weeks without losing any weight and it was getting pretty frustrating. Memorial day rolled around & pretty much all weekend I ate about 600-800…
  • I also do a spin class once a week & I'll call it a love/hate relationship. Your booty will be very sore, but you do get through it and eventually it just stops. While I am there I pretty much hate it, but with a good instructor that hour can go by fast & you burn a lot of calories. I feel great after class, very…
  • Glad you are sticking with it. I have let intimidation run me out of the gym numerous times. Actually as I was reading the OP it sounded exactly what I did a few weeks ago. I went in the gym in the afternoon, looked around and just could not bring myself to start. Walked around for five minutes trying to get up the nerve,…
  • I use the smaller ball - the ones at our gym have the height they are designed for written on them so I use the one for my range. Keep it up jkbear - you can do it. It was pretty embarrassing for me too. I actually ended up taking the ball and hiding in one of the empty classrooms until I got it, lol.
  • Beeps - thank you so much for posting. It's very encouraging! Would you mind sharing the weight you are lifting (maybe what you started with & where you are now)? I am just having a tough time not underestimating what I should be doing. I get a little afraid that either I am going to hurt myself or that I am wasting energy…
  • If you don't have the room for the bench right now you can use an aerobic step. That's turned out to be the best bench option out there - take it apart, put it away and it's out of the way. I stack two risers, throw a towel on it and there ya go. Learned it in a body sculpt class - perfect home bench. I think adjustable…
  • Awesome job!!
  • Bump - I would be interesting in hearing more folks answer these questions as I am just getting started. By BF is 31.6% at this point - I will have it checked again around 5/15.
  • I also do not follow the book; I do try to stick to the 40/30/30 but I don't try too hard. I did exactly what cphaneuf16 did to figure out my calorie intake goal. That put me at 1896 on workout days but I am having a really hard time getting up that high on the weekdays while I am at work. The weekends are a little easier…
  • Oh yeah, I got my before pic done a few days ago. Can't wait to finish Stage 1 and see the difference.
  • Congrats on getting started! I just started last week & I finished the 2nd A workout today. I did the squats with just the barbell today , last time I used a 20 lb easy bar & it was way too light. Next time I am going to add 10lb plates to the barbell.
  • Another yes here. I have been eating them back, losing and feeling great.
  • ^^This^^ Weight lifting would probably get you to the next level that you are looking for. I just started New Rules of Lifting for Women to assure that I am shaped the way I want to be shaped & not be "skinny fat".
  • I am just going to listen to my body & if I am tired (and it's not just a lame-o excuse) then I will bump the cardio - otherwise I will go. I didn't go today & so I will definitely lift tomorrow and not do the kickboxing class. I will call Tuesday by ear. But now I got my schedule all whacky. The spinning class I like is…
  • I use Endomondo & I had a sneaky suspicion that it might be over-estimating my calories burned. If it were me, I would just run them both & split the difference. I am looking at either getting a Polar HRM or a BodyMedia Fit to measure my burns. I am leaning towards to BodyMedia since I am switching to more lifting now &…
  • Definitely normal. I do not weigh myself as often because it was getting me upset too. Now I weigh once every two weeks even though my husband tells me I should wait a month but I just can't walk past that dang scale! Two weeks is about all the self control I have. I have noticed that I might even go two weeks not losing,…
  • As soon as one comes around here I am going for it!
  • Thank you - yes the step ups seemed more like cardio than lifting the first time. I had four steps but only used 7.5 lb dumbbells - I did push off a lot with my non-working leg. I will try your advice for tomorrow's session on those. The first workout went really fast so I can afford to slow down on the step-ups. Your…
  • Thank you so much for the kind words everyone! It really makes me feel good. It's nice to be surrounded by people who are working towards the same goal & can appreciate what your going through. I started early with my kids so I am little younger than most moms my age, but not by a lot. My daughter told me the other day,…
  • Thanks for responding. Yeah, I kinda had the feeling that would happen once I found my challenging weights. I am actually already thinking about not lifting today, skipping kickbox cardio and lifting Monday instead, taking Tuesday off & spinning on Wednesday. Kickboxing is by far my favorite, but the instructor that I like…
  • Heck yeah! Just do your best everyday & soon you'll be surprised at what your best is! When I started I couldn't climb the stairs in my house to get my kids dirty clothes without stopping to catch my breath. The good news is that they finally started doing their own laundry, the bad news is I got more & more out of shape.…
  • Great job! Our stats are about the same but I am just now hitting the 165 mark. I am soooo ready to see that size 8 again!
  • Thank you for sharing! This was a great story. I have been thinking about doing one of these zombie runs & I believe you've talked me into it. Congrats on your success & your race stats!!
