  • Don't shoot the messenger. I was merely passing along information that several people had already found useful and asked me to post here. You can use it or not. You are free to choose. And this is why I won't post anything further in these forums; some people just have to makes jokes about everything except what they feel…
  • Just curious--Are you using quick oats? And I agree on the egg point--they should be whipped up fresh to make the pancakes fluffy. Can you take the blender into the garage?
  • I'm not that kind. The older I get, the less I care what people think. I probably would say, "Have you looked in the mirror lately?" And you are already a better person than she is because you are HERE!
  • Just a thought: if you want to cut down on your carbs, why not try using spagehetti squash instead of pasta? It's a mild-tasting squash and adapts well to pasta recipes--without the calories and carbs--which means you can eat more! Had some for lunch today with a little sauce and turkey meatballs. Yummy!
  • I just use powdered, regular coffeemate and stevia. I gave up the milk first, and it wasn't that hard. Took about two days to get used to each, but now I don't miss them at all.
  • FANTASTIC! You look terrific! Great job--very inspiring!!!!
  • LOL--I'm on the Digby60--that's 60 min. walking my dog Digby every day, 365 days, rain or shine. A year later and I've lost 18 lbs. just walking the dog and not really watching my diet. Now that I'm watching the food, look out!
  • You're kidding, right? With all the evidence to the contrary you still think it's okay to smoke? I have a lot of relatives that aren't around anymore because they thought it was okay to smoke. "Healthy" or not, it will catch up to you one day; cancer is a reality with smoking. So is hardening of the arteries.
  • I am a sugar-holic. I used to put 1 1/2 T of sugar in a cup of coffee. I knew very few boundaries with candy. And I drank sugared sodas. Since getting on board with my new nutrition plan ( I hate the word 'diet'), I started using Stevia--cold turkey. After two days I was used to it. Now I get my sugar fix from fresh fruits…
  • I like using resistance bands. Easy, portable--I often use them during lunch at work! They seem to help with muscle tone rather than building. That and continuing to lose some weight will help I bet.
  • I'll bet you live in So Cal, right? The humidity has been AWFUL here and I sweat buckets when I walk in the morning. I don't know if you are burning more calories, but your symptoms sound like heat exhaustion. Try going early in the morning (before 7), HYDRATE by drinking some water before and some Gatorade afterwards so…
  • MFP gives you 'extra calories' for your workouts--but that doesn't mean you need to eat them--why would you want to? The whole point of successful weight loss is to scale back the calories by maintaining proper, balanced nutrition in order to trigger your body's natural fat buring process. I always have a surplus at the…
  • Now THAT is a success story! Very inspiring and good for you for saving your own life!
  • Promax Cookies & Cream--but only 1/4 bar at a time. Just a bite tides me over!
  • AGREED! Protein powder is an excellent snack or additive. I've made protein bars with it, too. I usually have a protein drink after a workout to aid in muscle repair/growth, as prescribed by a lot of fitness experts. Just be sure to drink LOTS of water if adding more protein than recommended for your BMI; kidney stones are…
  • 5 am, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Having a dog makes it easy!
  • I think he's on to something. My sister in law has diabetes and she follows his recommendations with great success. I for one think we eat way too many carbs. But balance in all things is always good.
  • LOL! Figures it was that simple! Thanks everyone!
  • I feed my dog Purina One Beyond (chicken and oats). I did a LOT of research before I decided on it. Not as good as the pricey 'healthy' ones, but not as bad as most. After a year, he seems to be doing just fine! I give him a 1/4 C. in the morning, with 1T. cooked chicken breast and 1 T. cooked frozen peas. For dinner he…
  • Deep breaths. Walks. And knowing that I can only control myself, not other people.
  • I used to hate grocery shopping. But now I consider myself a seasoned pro. Think of it as taking control of your food, your choices. Do a meal plan ahead of time before you go and don't buy itmes that you don't need--just what you need to make the recipes you've planned for the week. It's very empowering! Don't rely on…
  • There's a great converter online: http://www.worldwidemetric.com/measurements.html
  • One I came up with myself: HEALTHY BREAKFAST SANDWICH Van De Kamp's - 100% Whole Wheat English Muffins, 1 muffin Avocado - Half, 1 half, raw Oscar Meyer - Turkey Bacon-25% Less Sodium, 2 slice Trader Joes - Lowfat Cottage Cheese, 1/4 cup Toast muffin, slice up avocado, cook bacon until crispy and pat dry with paper towel.…
  • Interesting thread! I like Skippy myself, but when it started being so expensive I switched to Ralph's brand. Almost the same. I can't stand 'healthy' peanut butter. I stick to the 2T serving and offset the 'bad' ingredients on the days I eat it.

  • I started taking PharmaFreak Vita Packs. Loaded with vitamins, minerals, and stuff for digestion, etc. There are two doses per pack--one for morning, one for lunch. I don't take vitamins at night. If you go to BodyBuilding.com and plug that product in the search on their store, you'l see the ingredients list--it's amazing!…
  • BUY THE ENTERIC COATED FISH OIL CAPS--YOU WON'T TASTE THEM!
  • That's me--140g. a day. I get quite a bit from powder, but I think they are perfectly healthy when used in conjunction with other proteins from nuts, dairy, poultry, fish, and meat. The deal with eating 'unprocessed foods' is that you often get unwanted fat from them. I'd be UNDER my fat totals for the day if it wasn't for…
  • When on your period your metabolism ramps up--that's why your body craves more food. Try not to give in to the bad stuff--eat healthy stuff that tastes good and look at it as a bonus to be able to burn extra calories!
  • You say you "don't eat much processed junk at all." If you're eating any, and especially if it's carbs, that could be contributing to that tire. Try eating complex carbs instead.
  • Unfortunately for us--and the mice--they feed them huge quantites to speed up the results. Not very scientific. I can see the argument against meat because of cruelty, but not anything that's done in a lab. They can skew the results in any way they choose just to prove their 'theories.'
