I think the last time I went off hormonal birth control it took 4 months to get a period - or maybe it was closer to six? Plus my boobs got outrageously tender/painful. Synthetic hormones do a number on your endocrine system; some people can get pregnant right after going off the pill, but lots of people take forever to…

Cast iron pan. Probably won't help with the weight gain, but shown to help with anemia.

You can improve your muscles' efficiency and get functionally stronger even if you don't put on muscle mass (which for me has been awesome). Also, I heard a rumor that if you use your muscles, you won't lose so much muscle mass when you lose weight. Personally I do strength training while losing because it makes me feel…

How many other gross junk food meals come in under 500 calories? Well, probably a few, but whatever. The sodium wrecks my tummy, so I add the whole packet and then dump half the broth (or replace some with plain water after cooking is finished). I add TWO eggs and some snow peas or sliced red pepper, maybe some halved…

Search "worst binge" on the forums... there are some pretty amazing threads out there. You are not alone! Changing your mindset about emotional eating is hard, but it can be done. And tons of people have been there. Welcome!

I've always been dubious about whether buying a load of almonds would be cheaper than buying the processed milk, so I've never tried it. But here's an awesome recipe for what to do with the pulp (...awesome enough that I make almond pulp just to eat these), as long as you have someone to share with:…

Stretchy drawstring gym shorts I just tied tighter last week now fall off while walking around the house. Flabby wrinkly deflated bit of thigh at the top now migrating to whole length of thigh... for the win? Edit: Not this week, but the one that really matters: A1C down to 5.5 wooooop

Upping your vegetable intake will bring up your fiber; lots of dark leafy greens (personally I don't even bother with lettuce in salad anymore; not enough good stuff to be worthwhile). Small portions of beans and whole grains will also help. Protein? Well, the easiest way is meat. Skim milk greek yogurt or whatever will…

I don't think I've had that specific experience, but I know depression makes it really hard for me to go from zero to hourlong workouts. This time around, I started really slow - exercise wasn't even a goal, I decided to work on eating habits first. Then I set really, really low goals and gave myself permission to hit…

As the first person said, you need to wash and dry them for storage. They still won't last forever, but when you get them they're covered in mold spores and who knows what all else - washing them will help a bit. I use an organic vegetable wash rather than vinegar, but I'm intrigued by the vinegar idea. Also, check really…

Nice one. Honestly, even if the apology was 100% genuine, his understanding of the damage done is now a lot clearer. So what if he feels bad for a while? He should. Props for confidence!

Nah... lead by example until/unless they ask you how you're making your health journey work.

Pretty sure all live yogurt cultures have acidophilus. "Greek" yogurt isn't special - it's just thick, usually with weird chemical thickeners unless you're eating the full-fat kind. If you like the texture of Yoplait, keep eating it.

This is mostly a bump... lots of folks have posted my favorites. But I will say: Kale, finely chopped. I put that **** in everything (tuna salad, soup, curry, mashed starchy vegetables, quinoa) Also, beets. Best beet salad: 1) roast three or four medium beets (wash and cut the tops off; place cut side down in a deep…

google/youtube is a good start. there will be lots of videos showing you "correct form," but it's a good idea to check a few or find some trustworthy sources since you do not have to know what you are doing to post a "good form" video. also www.nerdfitness.com - strength training 101

I love cats, and I accept that their litter dust gets everywhere in my house, and that I probably inhale cat feces on a regular basis. I would still be FRIENDS OFF FOREVER if someone brought me a food item in a used litter box, liner or not. /socialized Also, googling kitty litter cake or litter box cake is going to net…

facemask? LEMON CUSTARD Real pudding Oh wait, sugar is not good for babies, or people... Um, I would be all over that mac and cheese thing, that sounds yummy. Or omelettes with extra yolks for breakfast or dinner. Spaghetti carbonara?

How's your posture? I have a theory that people grow flat butts because they sit on their tailbones instead of their butts - in other words, hips tucked all the time while sitting, no lumbar curve. Is it bro science if I admit I made it up?

www.nerdfitness.com - has some fun, free bodyweight workouts and suggestions on how to improvise some pieces of equipment. If you have a conveniently structured piece of hand luggage (has a handle that lets you lift it like a dumbell), you can stuff heavy books in there and add to it as you get stronger. Of course, for…

bump to look at, get motivated over, eventually pick up something heavy (still working on my bodyweight squats) (you're awesome)

How do they measure that? Obesity - fat tissue - is not actually murderous. Presumably they are measuring the mortality rate from diseases that tend to be correlated with obesity, but as always, correlation does not equal causation. /petpeeve

I think the 50-60% was for the periods when you're taking it easyish, not the bursts of intense effort. If I'm reading both of y'all right.
