  • Are you particularly stressed at the moment? Are you getting enough sleep? Sometimes slumps like this can become a mental thing - you have a couple of bad runs and feel you've lost your mojo, you start to worry about this a little, and sure enough, you're next run is a crappy one too, your worry increases, you tell…
  • Such great tips from everyone! They're all worth paying attention to. I definitely think sleep (and just rest in general) is a big one! I too have gone through periods where my progress when running has been at a total standstill. I went from comfortably running 8 or 10kms to only being able to run a couple of kilometeres,…
  • Start by trying to refrain from telling yourself that you have no willpower. How do you expect yourself to have any willpower when you keep telling yourself that you have none? I'm currently working on this one myself! :-)
  • Hey, I'm kinda in the same boat! This is my second time with MFP. I don't have much to lose this time around, only about 12-13 pounds. Last week, my first week back, I lost 4 pounds which was a much larger loss than I expected. Second week - nothing! I'm trying to remember if this is how it was when I last lost weight with…
  • Hi Chloe! Yes, Melbourne born and bred here. :-) There's a lot of good, fresh food here in Australia. Try to shop markets (or smaller fruit & veg stores), rather than the big supermarkets, for the freshest foods (cheaper too!). There are a lot of weekly markets here in Melbs. The Queen Vic Market is the biggest and is…
  • Bump! I'm curious to know too. Are heart rate monitor watches as accurate as those with a chest strap? I assume it works by measuring the pulse in the wrist?
  • Hi, sorry to hear about your break up! I'm the same - I always overeat when stressed. I just had a bad weekend for it, actually. Sometimes, I think I do it as an act of self-sabotage and I don't really understand why. Running really helps to de-stress me a lot. Do you like to run at all?
  • Another vote here for spironolactone. I'm 35 and have spend most of my life with acne, so I've tried a lot of acne remedies and medications. Spiro is my miracle cure. My skin is 100% clear. I only get the odd, very minor pimple on rare occasions. Side effects have been very minimal and most disappeared early on with a few…
  • Ugh, lost count of my August binge monsters. I'm setting myself a challenge - next 7 days are going to be binge free. Wish me luck!
  • Personally, I find I definitely see better results and develop strength faster when I combine pump classes with a weight session or two on the gym floor. I think the lower weight, higher repetition nature of pump classes needs to be combined with some additional work that combines lower repetitions with much higher…
  • I too am having issues with binging and am really perplexed by my own behaviour as I have never had an issue with binge eating before. Over the past year, I have lost around 13 kilos (29 pounds) but that weight loss has been at a stand still for quite some time. For the first 6-8 months, I never binged and I never had any…
  • Thanks for the quick replies! It's REALLY odd. I was only verging on overweight to start with (upper limit of health weight range), so I didn't have a particularly large amount of weight to lose, which makes it all the stranger. It's quite annoying. I like my shoes!
  • Hi Gary, Sounds like Shin Splints! It's very common to suffer from them when you start running and, yes, you are right, it can be due to improper technique and/or simply the wrong shoes. You don't have to give up jogging. Just do some googling and figure out what you can do to reduce the likelihood of it occurring. I think…
