  • The minute you linked Mercola you lost credibility. He's hardly a reputable source.
  • Try Sarah Lurie Iron Core Kettlebell DVD set-on amazon for ten bucks-first two dvds are instructional and workouts, the last two are workouts. Lauren Brooks has a great dvd series and book. Stay away from Jillian Michaels-she'll get you injured. Try to stick with RKC (certification).
  • dammit, I fell for a zombie thread.
  • It may trigger similar reward pathways as drugs do, but let's be clear. That is not all that is needed to determine an addiction. No one has had to go to detox to prevent the dangerous withdrawal from a Big Mac. No one is selling their bodies to score some fries. Yes people have cravings for certain foods, but that's due…
  • I'm speaking from the experience of being in therapy and being the therapist. You have every right to ask what their credentials and specialties are. The only person giving medications should be an MD (or maybe an NP or PA). But they usually don't do talk therapy. They should be discussing what your goals for treatment…
  • I don't know what the carbs are in these, because I don't track my carbs all that closely, but I love these black beans chips. My friend with celiac eats them with salsa because they are gluten free-I just like them because they are yummy. Not a cracker..but maybe a good substitute?
  • Does anyone have any reputable links about soy and health? I looked at this "the doctor within" link and it reads like a big conspiracy theory. Further googling revealed naturalnews.com and mercola. Not reliable sources, by any means. I have heard about soy specifically to be avoided for hormonal issues. But…
  • I'm 5ft 1 and 124 is a pretty good weight for me. Maybe just trying lifting weights to shape up some muscle?
  • These days I doubt anyone is "genetically homogeneous". Although if this is the case I'm sure there are lots of vegetarians and vegans who are going to be really upset that they have to start eating meat again.
  • Guess I have to start eating squirrel. Dammit.
  • I have used a foam roller for a year. I am still 5ft 1. I want my money back. Although, maybe I'm doing it wrong? Perhaps I was supposed to bless it with some crystals or something first?
  • I refuse to give up my coffee or my creamer. If this is the one bad thing I have on a regular basis, so be it. I'll fit it in my day and give up something else. Life is too short to not enjoy my coffee!
  • Kelly Coffey Meyer has a DVD series called "30 Minutes to Fitness". Each DVD comes with 2 30 min workouts and premixes. She has everything-kickboxing, bootcamp, weights, step, you name it. You can find them on Amazon. I love them, they're the only DVDs I do now when I choose to workout at home instead of the gym.
  • My cat likes to do yoga with me. Well, more like she likes to lay and roll around on my mat while I'm in a pose.
  • Here here. I'm sure anyone who is actually addicted to something, like alcohol, or heroin, or cocaine, would be upset that their life-threatening addiction could be equated to wanting lots of sweets. No one is going to jail for smuggling cookies or selling their bodies for another hit of pie. Regarding that urge to keep…
  • Don't laugh...but I sleep in my workout clothes. That way when I'm laying in bed arguing with myself to get up, I have one less reason why I shouldn't.
  • So basically you're upset because no one gave you the answer you wanted which was "yes, I did it and it worked! Go for it!". Yea, that's not going to happen.
  • Um, I'm pretty sure that by definition they are NOT loaded with sugar, or else they would not be zero calorie.
  • I am willing to be scientists would disagree with your statement that natural selection no longer applies to us. A species does not "outgrow" evolution. It's part of how a species continues to avoid extinction.
  • I know water contains chemicals, I'm not looking to nitpick what your saying to cause an argument but their is research out there to suggest it's damaging to health. Of course you can find an argument and counter argument for almost every thing relating to the health and fitness industry I was merely making the person who…
  • I'm not vegan, but I am curious about the pasta thing-is there vegan pasta? Doesn't regular pasta like barilla have egg in it?
  • Um...I wouldn't even be interested in eating my own poop! I did see this floating around on facebook, but then again I see so...much...crap...on facebook.
  • http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3195546/ This article discusses the affects of salt and potassium on our bodies, and the presence of those in our diets, but also notes that much more reseatch is needed, and that the human body does well well at managing its' pH on its own. No where it is mentioned that ACV will…
  • If you don't know if you're ready for professional help, there are online resources to help you start addressing this. From Alcoholics Anonymous (if you're spiritual), to Moderation Management (if you want to learn to drink moderately-not for those who are unable to stop once they've had one drink), to secular supports…
  • I tried ACV once for constipation, deluted in water. And then I had to add more water. and more water. I choked down maybe 4 oz and all it did was make me queasy. It did not help with constipation. I fail to see how this would help with weight loss, unless you're trying to induce vomiting. But more power to those who like…
  • This is where I get confused-the whole "moderate pace vs strenuous pace" etc. I know I feel like I'm working hard. Sometimes my heart feels like it's racing after a set. Sometimes I feel worked, but not exhausted. I suppose it shouldn't matter. My Garmin Swim does a calorie count, and I enter my age, gender and weight so I…
  • huh?
  • Do you have some studies to support this claim that it suppresses appetite?
  • Um....yea not so much. It's just another way of eating, not the be-all, end-all of eating. Many of us can achieve "massive physical athletic benefits" without cutting carbs. I eat carbs and am also VERY dedicated to changing my body. And have done so.
