That is so awesome! You will be so pleased with both products!

Awesome tips to follow! I have done 4 half marathons. I have a tip to add, but it's for race day. Don't count on the port a potties to have toilet paper. I stuffed a bunch of TP in my SPIbelt (and in a waterproof bag by them) and will never run a long race without it again. That is one thing I wish I would have been told…

I also suggest looking into the ROAD ID, that way you don't have to carry your ID with you, it has your information on it along with an emergency contact.

I just suggested them also...they are a life saver!

I have a SPIBelt. If you happen to have an Academy Sports store near you, you can get one for about $12. They hold a ton of items and don't bounce or slip while running. If you don't have an Academy near you, you can order online. I have recommended them to a ton of people and they have been happy with them also.

We only get Runner's World, and LOVE it

sure feel free to add me, my diary is always available, but hasn't been wonderful lately. I've been on here for almost 3 years and love this site. I have met several people on here and they are all so encouraging. I have even met some on person, and love them to pieces. Good luck to you.

I have been using Nike+ for just over 2 1/2 years and the last 9 months with the GPS watch. I really love everything about it. I like the fact you can do intervals on it too, will be great for track work (when I start doing it) that way you don't have to have someone there with you to record each time for you.

Ok, I was a little off, for the both of us it's $56 but for one it's only $30-ish.

I am a member of anytime fitness and highly recommend them. I honestly cant remember how much it is because my husband is also a member so we have the couples plan, but it's under $50/month. Our gym is pretty small but only 1 mile from my house so can't complain. There are treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes,…

Feel free to add me. I've been running for 2 years and currently training for my 4th half. I also had a set back, not injury related, just lack of motivation, but I'm back at it.

I have found that chewing gum does help. I never go for a run without gum otherwise i start dry heaving (gross, I know, but reality for me). I also found i can't chew fruity gum because it causes big loogies. Wow this post may be more than you bargained for but it's my personal experiences. Good luck and do some trial and…

I have done a few of them. I really like them

When I first started running I listened to 80's hairbands. But have been runnign without anything for over a year. I like that I don't have to mess with the cords choking me and different things.

I actually have my half marathon plan in a notebook. Everysunday I get it out and write the weeks training on a whiteboard. I put the date, what the workout is and then the time it took me to complete it. Like if I run 4 miles, I put the time it took. If I strength train, I put what part I worked (abs, legs etc) and how…

I have exactly 1 month till my 3rd half marathon. I use the nike+ GPS watchbut you can get the sportband to start off. It's cheaper.

My 3rd half marathon is Feb 19th for the Livestrong Austin Marathon. I ran it last year also, that one was my first. So at least I know the course and know what to expect. 47 days, and I'm smack dab in the middle of training!
-
I'm not sure how much of a running background you have. I'm assuming you have some running under your belt already? I would wait till 12 weeks out from your race then start the program. Maybe follow a 10k program till time to start the half program.
-
I'm in the middle of that same program, just finished week 5 ( think) my half (3rd one for me) is Feb 19, in Austin. I honestly think the half is my favorite distance.

Hey there everyone!! Temple here!

I'll add you! I'm coming up on my 2 years of consecutive days of logging in. I love this site, and between my husband and I we have lost 166 pounds (give or take). We went from eating out about 4 times/week and being the couch potato, to eating healthy, counting everything we put in our mouths, and became runners.

I'm also a huge ASICS fan. I started out wearing Nike, but have since switched to ASICS, and don't think I'll ever wear any other brand. You just have to try them on to make sure they are comfortable.
-
I'm training for my 3rd half using HHHM, the first "real" program I am following. I some how got by on my first 2 half marathons with minimal training! So far I am in the middle of week 2 and going strong! My half is in Austin Feb 19th.

If you have an iphone, ipod, or ipad, there is an awesome app called Nike Training club. It is VERY cool!!

I do a lot of reading about running. Here is one thing I found very useful about hills. I don't recall exactly where I read it (Probably Runners World magazine): pump your arms faster. It sounds strange, but your legs will follow your arms. You may even learn to love hills, I do.

I'm also doing the Austin half marathon in november, I did it last year and had a great time
-
I'm also addicted to racing. I like racing more than i like training for them. I did 2 half marathons this year, my first ever was in Feb, and my 2nd one was a couple weeks ago. I don't see anything wrong with doing as many as your body can handle, as long as you give yourself plenty of recovery time and time for training…

"You don't stop running because you get old, you get old because you stop running" ~jack kirk who still ran the Dipsea Trail race at 96 years of age

I'm training for my 2nd half (which is in 5 weeks) I have another half in February, and hoping for my first full before the end of the year next year. Feel free to add me if you like
