I'm totally in, thank you!! This is so do-able!

I have found that cement (running on sidewalks) hurt my shins. The blacktop and the track are a lot more "spongy" and are easier on your shins and knees. Just my 2 cents.

I'm in the same boat as you. However, I really love the summer, and woudn't trade it for the world. Plus training in the summer makes you faster for the fall races when it's cooler. I'm adding you as a friend.

I started running 1 1/2 years ago, age of 34. When I first started running I listened to music. But soon realized that when I finished my run I could never remember what songs I heard during my run. I tried a run without music and, never listened to music again.

I only have an old mountain bike. Wish I had a road bike and helmet and all that, so I could get some different type of cross training going on.

I officially started my (2nd) half marathon training last night. Last night, I went for 2 miles. My goal wasn't to get a PR for my 2miles, I just wanted to do it without walking. I haven't been running like I used to. My time was 23:19. I also headed out tonight for another 2 miles. I honestly didn't want to run tonight,…

I can't see your diary to give you any suggestions, but I am also on 1200 calories, and It takes a little bit to get used to it, but you eventually will find that some days can be difficult to reach 1200. I've also heard over the years that the more sugar you eat, the more you crave more sugar, and the more you eat. I have…

I totally agree! Take your time, this thread is for fun, and support.

I'm a HUGE fan of chicken mole!!! I have never had any issues with it. I think you will be fine. Mexican food is my weakness too.

My overall total is only 22 miles, beginning half marathon training today, so I'll start to slowly build up my weekly milage.
-
I added you as friend, I'm training for my 2nd half (November), and have another one scheduled next February

I haven't been doing much lately, my total for walking across Texas is only 20 miles. But starting Monday, July 11, I will begin my half marathon training, so hopefully I will be posting more milage to this thread.

I have been so lazy, but the inevitable is going to happen, I will be doing my 2nd half marathon in about 19 weeks. I also got out there for a walk today, went 3 miles, 53 minutes, at 1:30 in the afternoon 100 degrees! I wasn't looking for a great time, just wanted to get out there and do something, but that time was…

I found a training program on Shape.com, gonna try it out. It's a 12 week program, but I'm doing every week twice. I keep looking at different programs and figuring out which one i want. I have been itching to start an actual program, so that's what I came up with. Tonight was the first night of it, was supposed to do 3…

Just wanted to stop by and say hello. Just added another 2.4 miles, my total is 10.4 (I'm assuming I've already accounted for my 5k that i did Saturday). I was hoping for 3 miles tonight, by my quads were killing me and were still very tight from the 5k.

Mine is 9 minutes flat. I like to try for new PR's for the 1 mile, but prefer to just try to increase my distance rather than speed
-
I'm gonna try this. Since the start of this thread (June 7th) thread I think I only have about 10 miles. But I'm really wanting to get started early on my half marathon training, so may bump up my mileage. One question...The miles that it is across this wonderful state, are we doing out own miles and completing this per…

I love the "sport Beans" made by jelly belly, and I use the extreme sport beans, because they have caffine in them. They are small enough and won't melt like some of the gummies

I need to start getting more active with this thread. My training hasn't started yet, and it won't till mid-August. I'm ready to start it now, that way it keeps me running. This morning I did another 5k. This is the first 5k with my husband. We had a good time and I actually think it brings us closer. We went over the…

Yep, you will walk funny for a few days. Chocolate milk is a great recovery drink, if it's available. Just a little hit of advice, if you see people handing out tongue depressor sticks, some people mistake it for something that's edible. IT'S NOT. It's vaseline, but take it if you need it, it will be a life saver miles…

Congrats!! You will be fine, don't worry if you have to walk, I walked during my first 5k. Don't start out too fast, with all the people around, you will be caught up in the moment and will take off fast. Fight that urge, you will thank yourself later. Also never wear new clothes that you haven't ran in before. Anything…

My first 5k was May 15, 2010. It actually took place in a local pasture, so we were always on the lookout for "cow pies"! I had trained for only about 1 1/2 months, if that long. There were a few hills (now I wouldn't call them hills, but I didn't know how to train and didn't train on hills). My time was 40:50. I trained…

OOOH, i have to bump this! I did my first half in February. I got injured at mile 4, and even though I crossed the finish line, my time disappointed me. I really didn't have a set time I wanted to finish it in, but I was very bummed. After that I lost my motivation and my love for the sport. In the last few weeks I have…

I never actually followed the c25k program, I kinda made up my own. But there are so many success stories out there for the c25k program. You only increase your mileage by 10% each week. So, if you ran 1 mile one week, only run 1.1 miles the next week. You will learn to love it. And I still do walk/run intervals, it's part…

I'm no pro, but have done a lot of readking. The thing I read and remembered when I was running uphills and found truly works, is to swings your arms more. I found that by doing that, I actually got up the hills faster. It also helped me to concentrate on that, instead of the hill itself. I have to admit, hills are my…
