So, I won't look too dumb if I walk in wearing my padded bike shorts?

Can't remember the date I joined, but was on for a while, then stooped. As of yesterday, I have logged in and kept track for 495 days in a row. Monday should be my 500th day

I mainly just had water, I only had a few cups of gatorade and didn't have any issues with it. I just have to chew gum when I run (to keep my throat moist and keep from gagging) so the kind of gum I chew tastes really nasty with gatorade.

I ran my first half in February with all the commotion and adreneline, the time will actually fly by for you. I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, works perfectly. I also take Sport Beans with caffine made by Jelly Belly. I think i took about 1/2 pack every 5k distance during the race. I don't like the taste and…

I'm in the same situation. I still log on and track calories, even if my choices aren't very good. I went from loving to run to being very unmotivated and lazy. Once I completed my first half marathon in February I got lazy.

oh, cool, I can't believe i've never heard anyone say that before. thanks

Oh, and really dumb question...what is NSV? I googled and one of the searchs said "no-scalpel vasectomy "...I know that can't be what you are refering to.

Awesome!!! Congrats. That is a really great time. I started the same way a year ago, and have since then and ran in a total of 4 5k's and had the oppritunity to go on a 5 mile run with olympian, (and my favorite runner ever) Ryan Hall and his marathon running wife, Sara. I also completed my first half marathon in February.…

bumping, gonna give this a try since I've been on a plateau for months

Congrats!! I completed my first half in February, and hoping to build my motivation back up to do another on in November. There is also a really good program on marathonrookie.com . My suggestion is stick to your training. I fell off the wagon and didn't train like I should have so I ended up getting a knee (IT Band)…

Lots of sites out ther for it, just google "c25k" and find which one fits you best. It's an excellent program. I never did it, (kinda came up with my own version). I started running March 2010 and completed my first half marathon February 2011 (granted I did walk some of it due to knee injury, but i finished darn it!) Good…

Option 1 Run/Walk goal 10k - 3k done Cycle goal 25k - 0 done recently lost my love of the sport (running), trying to get my passion and endurance back. The kids only have 1 week left of soccer, then I can concentrate more on my own fitness. Hoping to hit the gym tomorrow night to get some cycling in.

I think I'm gonna give this a try, my biking will have to be stationary bike though. I'm not much of a cyclist, but would love to get a road bike. I'm a runner that has lost motivation and endurance. Thank you! I will start Monday, option 1 to start out slow

This going to sound pretty disgusting, but it's the best advise I received before my first half. If you get pre race jitters and feel like you need to run to the bathroom every 5 minutes, I strongly suggest immodium AD. I took a couple pills the night before the race and 1 more in the morning. It kept me away from the…

I can't stand the GU either. I use the sport beans the extreme sport beans have caffine. They are made by Jelly Belly and are pretty sweet but work well!

I was just gonna post a topic about spinning to see what to expect and if any padding is needed and what kind. I appreciate all these resopnses.

that's what i'm talking about!!

I've been on it in the fast, but going to start getting on it more. I think i found you... sending you a request

I did a half 3 weeks ago and really wished I would have taken my training more serious. I like the programs found on marathonrookie.com I shoudl have followed it more closely. I had IT issues at mile 4, but finished (in a way worse time than I wanted) but I finished!!! I will be following a program for a full that I will…

I ran my first half marathon 3 weeks ago, and realized just how important a training program really is!! I will be signing up for the rock n roll in san antonio which takes place in November, I'm going for the full this time. Good luck to ya, feel free to add me as a friend

I love the website marathonrookie.com It has free programs for all distances. I just completed my first half last sunday (Feb 20) and am going to use that site to train for the full. Good luck to you, you will do fine!

I'm planning on trying to make it in 2012, I'm doing a local marathon in Nov so can't make Chicago this year.
-
I'm going to try to work out for 25 hours this month
-
Ice it. 20 min on, 20 min off do that a couple times. And yes, rest is the best. You don't want a stress fracture or any worse. Just take care of your ankle. Being off of it for a week is better than months if it develops into something worse. Ice and rest Is the best.

My knee only bothered me when I ran, so for that particiular race I could go farther by walking, but normally I go further running.
-
I started running a year ago, I have run 3 5K's, a 10K at home, a 5 mile run with an olympic marathoner (Ryan Hall) and just completed my first half this past Sunday. Before the half my longest run was a 10K. You can finish the half, trust me. My course was the worst around, very hilly and I developed a knee injury by mile…

good luck to you, you will do fine. keep me updated on how you do and how your training goes. I'm adding you as a friend.

I also saw these at our expo and tried one on, but didn't get one, a friend of mine did. Well I ended up ordering one last night and it will be here soon.

You are awesome thank you!! And congrats on you finishing yours!

I kinda did my own training for my half, didn't follow it like I should have. But my first half is this Sunday! My stomach is in knots and I'm very nervous but excited
