I'm 45 and re-commiting to this - my diary is open. I am really trying to "eat right" and stick to my exercise plan. I plan to be here frequently, would welcome suggestions and support and would do the same. Feel free to add me :)

We're supposed to "pray unceasingly" so I think that praying while you exercise is a great idea! St. Therese made every little thing she did a prayer - if it's good enough for her, I say do it :)

We bought an EatSmart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale about 5 months ago and I love it. Inexpensive (< $30 on Amazon), accurate (readings don't change when stepped on multiple times), and basic - it doesn't remember your previous weight or store multiple people's readings, etc.

I'm 45 and re-commiting to doing this. I will be 46 in October and would like to start the "2nd half" of my life in better shape - hoping to lose about 30 pounds and make exercise a habit. Feel free to add me!

I eat some of them back if I'm hungry. I'm a bit hesitant to eat them all only because I'm not sure about the accuracy of my exercise calories earned - I'm doing C25K and don't have a heart rate monitor, so the calculations are pretty rough.

Well - some of us aren't 18 year old pre-menopausal females who haven't yet messed their metabolism by 20 years of "dieting". And yes - some do not measure or track correctly. But some do, and still struggle or lose slowly.

A new pair of tall black leather boots, and hopefully some new clothes as well!

Same reason I don't do Nike but love Saucony.

I'm really looking forward to this. "Use it or lose it" is so true, especially after 40, and I am so self-concious of my arms and wearing sleeveless shirts. Thanks for starting the challenge!
-
Great work - you look fantastic! I agree with the others who have mentioned how much younger you look. You will rock the 40's!! :)

Everyone falls off the track now and then. The ones who eventually succeed pick themselves back up and keep on going. You learned from this (not to go to a party starving); each meal is an opportunity to begin again. You can do this!

Congratulations - well done!

Yes, here! Just came in from my 1st day and I'm sure my "run" speed was slower than my fast walk. We'll get faster!
-
I would love to join this - it's exactly what I need right now! I won't be able to take my "before" photos until tonight. Thanks for staring this.

WOW Kat - I am so happy for you! You look terrific and have made such positive changes in your life by doing what works for you. Thank you for sharing both your story and your advice.
-
And congratulations on your achievement -well done! (sorry - hit reply too soon earlier:)

Thanks for sharing! Just starting c25k (again) today.

I'm in - better late than never, even if summer's about over! I seriously need this - I'm a "bit" older than you and let's just say that it's true - use it or lose it! Looking forward to this.

Absolutely - it will be perfect to wash-down an organic Big Mac and fries made with organic potatoes and oil.

I'm 5'2" and if I could lose 2 lbs/ week at 1800 and you took 600 away I would be unhappy and ungrateful, if you know what I mean. If her weight loss begins to stall I would bring it down, but shouldn't we be eating the most calories we can in order to maintain a healthy rate of loss, since the calories will be decreasing…

Congrats for starting back! I just did the same last week - like to give/receive feedback as well. Request sent :)

My brother works in mushroom research at a major university and I've toured the facility where they are grown and research is done. I didn't see anything that would be a put-off for eating them. Curious as to why you would say that... Anyway - definite mushroom lover here!

Bump. Thank you for sharing this - beets are all over the farmers market right now, and I love goat cheese, spinach, and topped with caramel pecans.... definitely making this on the weekend.

Anyone who communicates can add me as well (promise to do the same)!

Hi - I'm 5'2" and 148. I'm just finishing my first week and tomorrow is my WI day. I'd love to lose 20-25 pounds (will see when I get closer how things are looking :) I work full time and am married with 3 sons (16, 13, 11) - life is crazy/busy in a good way and the flexibility of the 5:2 plan really appealed to me - no…

^^ This. I buy something that I really like, hide it from the kids, and have a square or two when I need something sweet/dessert-like. If I didn't do this I would probably find myself mindlessly munching on cookies or some other "treat" that my husband/kids have around sometimes. But if you can't control yourself around…

3 last night for my 3rd day - 41 to go.

So far so good, but I didn't have an early cut-off for regular days like some of you (we eat late dinners). Stuck to the 5 pm on fast days, though.
